I have received several calls from a company called the Technical Department of "eprotectionz" offering to get rid of the virus, is this a hoax?
Hi there, hope someone can help me on this issue.
I received several calls from a company called 'eprotectionz' technical department which proposes to rid your computer of an "infection" (no virus) apparently slowing down Windows. In a first time, I finished the callwhen they began to ask questions about my computer. They are appatently a global company - I am based in Australia and on checking their site, they operate out of the Australia and other countries. Their phone number here in Aust is 02-8091-0114. This company is legitimate. I become more suspicious when they ask to enter my computer remotely while I followed the instructions to remove the so-called infection. I don't trust everybody these days and trust no one! What do you think?? Thanks in advance,
Australia. Take a look at this, mate.

Check, if pictures can access the original files of your pictures, or if the originals are missing.
You can test to try to edit a photo or trying to export it with "file > export > export original file..."
Photos can be edited or exported?

I got a phone call from a company calling itself the MSIT Experts saying that they have detected the activity of the virus on my computer, citing my name and address, which they say has been provided by Microsoft. Someone at - he heard of these people and they're authentic? Paul Rabone
Hello Paul,
Its a scam. If they call it still cling. I had 2 these calls than several of my clients and I also had them. By all accounts Microsoft do not have this kind of activity, not even through other companies.
By curiosity on where in the world are you? I was just wondering if it's a global phenomenon not only limited to the United Kingdom.

Called several times in recent weeks. I ran the Scanner of MS and nothing turns upward. Very skeptical about this appellant.
Hello
It's a scam.
Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.
If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.
If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.
And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.
There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one
Read this Information from Microsoft:
"Avoid scams to phone for tech support.

Don't be fooled of unsolicited calls. Don't provide personal information.

Yesterday, I took measures to try to free as much space as possible, hoping to upgrade to Windows 10. When all was said and done (delete the old restore points, deleting old graphics driver installation files, etc.) my C: fell from 13.5 GB of free space to 27 GB, with orders F: to about 624 GB of free space. When I closed my computer for the night, I shut it down normally (ie. He would not download/install updates).
When I started again this morning, it starts normally (no not wrap updates began the last stop down), but when finished loading office there is a message in the Windows taskbar to say * fact * install the updates. Out of curiosity, I check my free space on both my drives and my C: went up to 10 GB of free space, with my F: in GB 645. The kicker? When I clear space yesterday, I took a glance at each weight (including hidden files) folder. Today when I did the same thing, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. In other words, each folder in C: root seem to occupy the same weight. I didn't even move anything from my C: to my F: when you try to free up space, I just deleted everything I wanted more.
Just to be sure, I went back and cleared again restore points, but he did exactly the same thing that happened yesterday: nothing. There was no progress bar and no space was saved. I also checked on Puran Defrag, but my C: earn barely any fragmentation, indeed, I've defragmented it yesterday. I've also already disabled the hibernation and removed the hibernation file earlier, which helped a little. On the other hand, this means that I have absolutely no idea whence this 17 Go invisible and how to get rid of.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edited to simplify the title.
You are welcome.

Hi russalan,
I understand that after you upgrade to El Capitan yesterday, you see a badge notification for FaceTime and you want to get rid of it. If you open system preferences > Notifications on your MacBook Air and then scroll to the bottom and select FaceTime, you can disable the feature icon App Badge.
