I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I have administrator privileges, but there are a lot of files and sectors to which I'm not 'access '. WHY? How can this be resloved?

I need to access many files to transfer to my computer thank you program configurations.  I thought that as an administrator, it will be possible.  So why can't do this and how can I get around this problem of fixing.  I can't even change files eventhough administrator access is listed as having full control.

Well, in Windows 7, you will find what was in 'Documents and settings' in C:\Users\\Appdata (appdata is a hidden folder).

Windows Vista Home Premium Disk Defragmenter does not work properly.  It will analyze the disks and say they need to be defragmented, but when I click "Defragment now" he begins to analyze again.  It keeps analyzing and telling me to defragment however it defragments never really.  Please PLEASE HELP - it's so frustrating. Thank you =)

    Hi islgrl10,

Alternatively, you can also view the partition on which you try to run disk defragmentation, it may be corrupt or have some bad sectors that might have prevented disk defragmentation utility runs successfully.

To check for errors on a partition,

    1. click on Start button, and then type command prompt and run as administrator.
    2. in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f and press to enter.
    3. When you are asked to plan the check disk on the next reboot, type 'y' or 'Yes' and restart your computer to run the utility chkdsk on your computer.

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit SP2.

Is there a way to delete the records of 'detail' of only updates of failure or cancelled in the history of Windows Update?

I just installed hotfix for Windows (KB947821).

It looks like a lot of my earlier 'failed' and 'Cancelled' updates are automatically updated and installed, and successfully, I might add.

Some dates in some records do not seem much sense. I guess I'm looking for a way to select the records, I want to get rid of.

    Help?

    Hi Jeffrey,.

It's not really a taken way in charge to remove only the cancelled or failed updates. These are taken from windows logs and displayed in the history. Steps that Jose post is a way to remove all files in history and will remove all updates as well as a failed/cancelled updates successfully.

  • A few key Windows 7 Home Premium OEM COA unreadable characters, is there something I can do?

I replaced the hard drive in my aunt's computer and validate the OEM key on the sticker on the bottom of the habit on his laptop computer. I tried both online activation and calling the Activation Center. It's probably because 2-3 people on the key have been rubbed off and are unreadable. Is it possible for me to post/send the key parts, I know to a microsoft representative and I have them tell me what are the characters in question? I can't the OEM SLP key which I suppose was installed on the motherboard at someone at the factory for a new key to activate windows? Is it possible to get my windows activated without having to buy another copy? Thank you.

Well, I appreciate the help. One last question; as I understand it if only I get a Toshiba l655-s5146 windows dvd and installation of recovering from it, it must recognize the activation of SLP key integrated into the bios and turn on automatically without the need for me to enter the product key. Could you confirm if it will work? I wish I had a little before insurance I pay 20 Toshiba or so much money for the recovery cd.

    Hello

    For your futue reference:

If ever, you have the same problem with another machine preinstalled OEM, product key Finder, BelArc programs, etc. will not find a usable product key that you then use the procedure to reinstall OEM.

They will only find a product key that has been used on several machines during factory production, which is useless for your application.

These programs will work if you have a retail Windows license to find a key, you might have used.

You need the product key from the COA sticker, or the long before recovery partition recovery disks doing the hard drive failed.

And Yes, the manufacturer of recovery disks are designed to reinstall without the need for you to have to enter the product key on the COA sticker.

If you have problems, then it's a matter between yourself and Toshiba as to what the fault is with their recovery media.

    See you soon.
