I have xp media center 2004. Download the guide in October 2011, he stopped. I have read some of the other responses on this issue and tried everything they tried. Nothing has worked. The guide icon shows up and says it's the download, but it does not download. This isn't a UK issue, because I live in the State of WA, identical to MS. I appreciate all help.

Hello

Try the procedure described in the following article and check the status of the issue.

Windows Media Center Edition 2004 does not download the Program Guide after you change the download method.

  • Television channels in Media Center double in the guide

This seems to be a common problem but I and many others don't seem to have a solution.

I disable duplicate them the layers that do not work but a day or two later, they come back.

I am in England and I put the post code of the transmitter that I am supposed to receive my tv. I have erased the Max and reread my tuner. Which none cure the problem.

There should be a code added to the media center, which will focus on the channel list and remove those who do not have any signal. This isn't a real solution as some duplicate channels do not work. So what code that remembers what channels you have disabled?

What else can I do to fix this? I'm getting really cheesed to disable 50 channels every day.

Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place, it can't see a Media Center option to publish under.

    Cheers for any help guys

Edit: My tuner is a nanoStickT2 of pctv. 290th PCTV model

just saw this and this solution works rather than download a file:

Duplicate with no signal channels come from adjacent areas. In the guide, do a right-click and disable unwanted channels. Once you have put WMC in place as you like it, you can stop retunes go in the (type regedit in the search box) registry editor and find the entry

    hkey_local_machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\BackgroundScanner

    and setting

    Dword PeriodicScanIntervalSeconds = 7FFFFFFF
    Dword PeriodicScanEnabled = 0

you will need to add a new DWord for the Periodicscanenabled DWord value

  • Win 7 Media center must rebuild the library whenever he starts.

I have a frustrating problem with Media Center in Windows 7.  He is a dedicated Media PC that is used primarily for music.  Whenever I have run media center and select the music option, remember all the information of the library for each category.  Since it loads in album it takes 5 to 10 min. to get information (albums, works of art, etc.). Then when I go to the Genre, he goes through the same process.  This is repeated whenever I select a new category.

As long as the PC is on and information process was done once for each category, it works better.  Once the PC is turned off and restarted it must go through this process again.

I used Media Center in XP for years and once he has sought and collected built the library is easy to use.  When the PC is started again click MC select music and all loads of information in a few seconds.  It seems that MC in win 7 is a step backward, unless there is something I am doing wrong.

I downloaded the drivers for my sound card. display and motherboard.  All files are stored on the PC.  I had the problem on three separate PCs.  Although two of them, I went back to XP.  Before going back on the third, I want to see if there is something I can do wrong.

I suggest that you try to reset the media library of WMP. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

  • Compatibility issue with the version of media center 2004 and Windows XP Service Pack 3!

I have a problem getting Media Center 2004 version compatibility to work with Windows XP, Service Pack 3. Does anyone know of a problem here? Are they compatible? If not, anyone know if there is a fix for this?

The material that I was referring to is the material that you were talking about, namely your card graphic and sound card. I thought that this could be as simple as installing the correct hardware drivers.

As I am not very familiar with your particular PC, it is not that I do. You can switch to the thread where PA bear you helped:

  • The guide to "Help and Support Center" installed for Windows XP Media Center 2004 is largely outdated and must be updated.

I have version Dell of Windows Media Center 2005 (service pack 3) installed on my XPS 600 desktop computer.  The installed Help and Support Center guide date for use with Windows Media Center 2004 and has never been updated to include most of the changes system over the past six years. Dell or Microsoft should be responsible for the update of the guides or instructions that are installed on the operating system. Not only that, but Media Center and Movie Maker themselves also grossly neglected as updates are concerned.
The currently installed Help and Support Center guide is missing details on significant changes to Windows applications and utilities.  I rely on up-to-date information to make changes to my OS applications and utilities.  There is a lot of information in this guide that is incomplete and misleading and therefore not very reliable.
I have an OEM of Windows XP version and I wonder if there is an update of current or replacement for this system guide and who is responsible for the update.

Nothing in XP will be updated. The current Windows operating system is Windows 7. XP is already three iterations of the windows behind. A great substitute for the XP search feature (which was never very good) is Agent free Ransack.

  • Can not play music in media center 2004 on Satellite P15-S470

    Hello

Last weekend, I upgraded Windows XP Media Center SP1 to SP2 (because MS no longer supports it) on laptop Toshiba Satellite P15-S470 to my father. Tonight, I found that his Media Center 2004 refuses to read audio CDs audio error: "To play music in media center, install Windows Media Player 9 or a repair."

After a long search on the Internet (e.g., newsgroups and forums), I found this a known issue since the release of SP2 in 2004. He worked before SP2 and other music players (for example, Windows Media Player (WMP) v10 and iTunes v6.x) have no problem. I tried to use Registry MCE 2004 provided by Toshiba and HP fixes (just for fun) and restart, but they did not help.

Is there anything else to try next to the clean installation of SP2 and the BONE with its software? I was about to update WMP to v11, but I discovered that it does not work in MCE 2004. :(

    Thank you in advance. :)

    Hello

You have this problem its just at the point where you use WMC to listen to the music CD or also with other players?

Is there any problem, indicated in the device (sound card) Manager?

  • How to disable the pop up "Windows Media Player cannot download the information on the media... "after the extraction of a CD without activation of network connectivity.

When I copy a CD with Windows Media Player, I get the message pop up after the investigation period is over: "Windows Media Player cannot download the media for this CD information. The other titles, artist, and album will be identified as "Unknown" in your library. For best results, connect to the Internet or manually add media for CD information. »

I know that the message appears when I turn on the setting to allow WMP to connect to the internet to get information about the media, but I don't want WMP does. What I want is a button I can push on the pop-up that says "don't show this message again" (similar to the warnings seen in internet explore). How can I disable this pop-up window without activating the internet connection option.

In case you're wondering, the data from the internet are incompatible in the naming convention so when I rip an audio book, so I can listen to my mp3 player, I can't completely post-processing script because not all of the disks in a set have a coherent on the slopes or even name the disc etc. At least drives marked 'Unknown' is consistent and so easy to script for the reduction to a single MP3 file.

  • After recharging, have more Media Center

Original title: units media center problems in windows XP.

I have a multimedia computer with XP installed with media center included. My OS has become corrupted, and I had to reload the OS. Unfortunately, the CD I have doesn't have a Media Center on this issue. Thanks to many headaches and pain, I have the computer and running upward, all the necessary drivers are installed, but I do not have Media Center.

How can I get? I have the original product code for Windows XP my computer is came up with, but no media came with it.

Usually, when you do not get the CD of the OS with the computer it's because the manufacturer installs a recovery hard disk partition. Because the code is not eligible get a CD. If you do not have this partition or CD and you really want Media Center, you will need to buy it. You can check if you have a partition recovery here: Control Panel, administrative tools, double-click computer management, click Disk Management.

I have a Windows 7 Media Center box, and an Xbox 360 that I use as an Extender.  The two connections to the same wired router.  Everything worked fine until I went on my old router (failed) and put in a WNDR4300.   After the new router has been installed, I didn't have the Extender work then, deleted from the media Center and re - he added.  It worked but after I shut off/started the xbox, no link.  It is repetitive: I can make a new connection, but then it didn't reconnect after reboot of the xbox.

    Check/change:

-J' changed to a static IP xbox

-There is no part 3 a / v or a firewall on the support center

  • "Windows Media Center cannot detect the IR control cables, which are necessary to control the set-top box. Fixing parts IR that supports the IR control cables and then try again. IR HARDWARE NOT FOUND ".

Original title: when setting up Windows Media Center, I get the error message: "IR hardware not detected".

I have an internal TV Tuner that has been installed by HP, when I bought recently a "computer build-your-own." (According to the control panel Device Manager, my tuner is a Win TV HVR 1290, made by Hauppauge). The computer came with Windows 7. While installing Windows Media Center, after setting up the TV Signal (on channel 3) I am able to see a video thumbnail on my computer screen. I am also able to change the channel using my remote control U-Verse (not the Windows remote control supplied with the computer). So far so good! I then hit next and get the following message: "Windows Media Center cannot detect the IR control cables, which are necessary to control the set-top box. Fixing parts IR that supports the IR control cables and then try again. IR HARDWARE NOT FOUND ".  After you receive this message, the installation procedure is completed. I called HP that support intalled the tuner. They had not the slightest idea what to do. I then called Hauppage customer (manufacturer of TV Tuner). They said that I need to plug one end of the IR Blaster cable that shipped with the computer in a slot in the back of my computer (they told me which slot). They said so to run the IR all the way cable to my cable box and the other end of the cable to my cable box of band. They said it was necessary to be able to use my Microsoft Remote to instruct the box to change channels (cable IR stuck on the box). I told her that I did not use the Microsoft Remote, I could change the channel with my U-verse remote (that I preferred to use anyway). He said that it took the cable on the band decoder in order to remove the error message and the installation of Windows Media Center. I then called U-Verse technical adapter who informed me of their set-top boxes (made by Cisco Systems) do not have the ability to receive signals IR IR Blaster cable (or any othe IR signal source). Microsoft is apparently not understand how U-Verse set-top boxes are designed to work and sells a product incompatible remote control/IR. My question is this: How do I set up Windows Media Center, in order to avoid getting the error message "IR hardware not detected" when you install Windows Media Center and just use the remote control of the U-Verse that I prefer to use in the first place. Once understand you this point, please send the information to HP, At & T U-Verse and others. Thank you.

Ron, I have something for you!

and for all the people who have this problem :)

Hi, I had the time of IR not detected in Windows 7 Ultimate with a TV wonder 650 card and a box of digital adapter from Verizon for my PC... Go on the road to installation and after the Media Center channel search, choose manual configuration. Choose the aerial signal (I aso picked after this analog) l. After he sought more, he finds no channels.  Do not be afraid. Just accept it and go to the main settings page in the Mediacenter. If I remember correctly, then select TV Guide. Choose Add channel. I added the channel 3.

Since my Verizon box has no IR for the computer, I added the channel 3 for the media Center and I change the channels with my Verizon remote. All my stations in the Verizon box go to Channel 3.

The story here is so, for some reason any Windows detects that only my box channel signal TV and you must manually configure the media center on the air, then go to settings and add the channel you want in the guide.

Why the guide TV control which channel you can tune is beyond me, but the scanner locks all channels, it does not detect. they must be added manually in the guide.

My TV works and looks okay now.

    It actually works!

the only problem is that it is not in HD

    but there is something

During the TV signal together towards the top there is no option for "Cisco".  Then I select "Unlisted" and setting up tells me there is nothing that can be done and leave the whole upward. Media Center will learn the remote control IR codes because it does not pick up the DTA remote this process.   I was finally able to get a "tv signal" implemented by choosing comcast, although this isn't my cable tv company, , but still the wmc remote will not change channels on the DTA cisco. The wmc remote works fine and changes channels in the real of windows media center, but because the string must be changed on the real DTA there on some channel I entered on the DTA remote. Since I use record TV WMC, indicates on the guide, it's impossible, unless I can get the DISTANCE WMC, put in place to change the DTA channels!

    I need help!

I was finally able to set up the remote after tweaking autour with IR receiver. I have even connected infrared diffuser!
