I have xp sp3 - automatic update does not

I have Windows Xp professional Sp3-yesterday my automatic windows update no longer works.  I can access it, but when I press (express) "get updates priority, I get 'the site has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to show."

DanielVillarreal06,

It is usually enough to do this: start > run and type

Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll

and press the ENTER key. If this does not resolve the issue:

Start > run and type in these lines. Press the ENTER key after each one:

net stop wuauserv

Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll

Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\wups.dll

Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll

Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\dllcache\wucltui.dll

Regsvr32.exe MSXML3.dll

Regsvr32.exe qmgr.dll

Regsvr32.exe qmgrprxy.dll

net start wuauserv

Restart Windows, and then go to Windows Update.

  • Automatic update does not. I have to manually go to the Firefox Web page every time.

Whenever I go to Firefox/subject to check the version, I will be shown what is apparently the latest version and the computer will check for updates, then tell me that Firefox is updated. However, it is never. I still have to go to the Firefox Web page and download the new version of myself. I find this very frustrating, and it happened through a couple of updates to Mac OS x. I'm running Mavericks and just download Firefox 31.

We see this often reported as past on Mac that update does not work properly, and it maintains the skirmish with the connection or otherwise is not updated.
We advice you to download and install the full version in this case.

You can find the full version of the current version of Firefox (31.0) in all languages and for all systems operating here:

  • The service "wuauserv" (automatic updates) does not work correctly

The service 'wuauserv' uses constantly between 88 and 95% of my CPU, slowing down my computer to the point that it is almost unusable, so I've been suspending or disabling the process 'wuauserv' every time I use my computer.

In addition, Windows Update does not, if "wuauserv" is suspended or not.
It prevents just check the latest updates and never stops to do that no matter how long wait.

Well, I managed to solve the problem.

I followed the instructions on this page: http://workingscripts.blogspot.com/2008/05/windows-update-high-cpu-usage-fix.html

Immediately after that, Windows Update and the automatic updates service finally started working again. It has been almost two weeks since I fixed it and have not had a problem since.

I didn't format the hard drive and do a clean install of Windows XP for this problem - I have never done this because it does not seem necessary.

And I do not see how this relatively recent automatic updates problem never touched my other problem Installation of Internet Explorer years discussed in my other thread.

  • My automatic update does not work.

I received this message everytime I open Firefox for quite awhile without realizing exactly what that meant. Now I see that I'm running 6.0, rather than 7.1 and when I click on automatic update, the message I get is: the update could not be installed. Please make sure that there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer and restart Firefox to try again. I have certainly no other copies of Firefox running.

    (2) restart your computer
    (3) run the installation program that you downloaded in step 1

  • Automatic Updates does not take into account calendar, runs when I'm playing games and kill them

    Windows Update does three things:
-Checks the updates - it takes several minutes of intense activity of disk and processor
-Download updates - this hammers bandwidth
-Installs updates - disc of hammers and cpu

I have a dual system of fast cpu - it doesn't help not-windows update will be hammer any system, as it is not limited - it works just as fast as possible.

Everything would be perfect if it ran only on time, by the windows update control panel.

I put it to run at 04:00, because that's when I'm never on the system. The system is still on at 04:00. It has been set to 04:00 for 6 months now.

However, he always runs updates at other times. More recently, it is said that she checked at 18:26 and installed at 00:50. I've often wondered why my game is either corrupt, only to discover, it does the updates of windows (the other culprit is snapshots in system restore, I plan now by using Task Scheduler to arrive at a reasonable time).

Basically, Windows Update ignore all calendar - as has been complained by many other people.

Its a huge process and it needs to be programmed correctly - at least to run only in idle time.

Is it possible to control the actual schedule of windows update?

Please DO NOT SAY to SET THE TIME in THE CONTROL PANEL as it does clearly no difference to everything that is important.

Also do not forget that all THE STEPS of updating windows are disastrous for a game - worst, it is in fact the verification of updates, but the cheque, the download and installation are all bad - all the parties must be scheduled to happen when I'm not in the middle of a game.

    Thank you

  • Automatic update does not

I have some problems with my computer. In the last months, I had to run Malwarebytes as there was a large number of viruses on my computer. I use AVG and Windows Security Center.

Since the first major attack of virus, my Security Center tells me that my firewall and automatic updates are disabled. I continue to turn on the firewall, but it turns off after that I have turn the computer back on, and I also tried to turn on the automatic updates. When I went to the tab, I saw that he was already, but I don't get updates.

I went to the Microsoft site, but I was told that if I wanted to download anything whatsoever from the Download Center I have to use Internet Explorer (generally, I use Firefox), so I just downloaded the new IE8. However, the page is blank... even Google will not open. He says that the internet is not connected - which obviously is that Firefox still works!

Any help is greatly appreciated... but take it easy on me, I don't understand all this!

    Thanks :)

Seeing that your system has been compromised by "a large number of virus", the only methods to ensure that there is no hidden malware present so that you can trust your system would be to:

    (1) create a rescue CD that the system can be started with so that the hard disk is idle.

    Kaspersky Rescue CD
    BitDefender Rescue CD

    (2) save all your personal data and program installation files, or application. Then gave and installation of the files scanned by a malware online scanner or downloaded to ensure that nothing has been compromised.

Then, format and reinstall Windows XP.

Otherwise your system probably all your keystrokes, passwords and financial information sent to the web servers of cyber criminals or it part of a botnet.

  • Automatic Updates does not illuminate

OK, this can be pretty basic stuff, but my children have not been able to help so this is. I have 2 PC and the other more ancient works on XP Service pack 3. There has been no updates for over a week and whenever I turn on the pc I get the message that the automatic updates are disabled click this balloon. However, when I try to turn them on in the Security Center I get the message "sorry this is not possible" or words to that effect.

Then when I click on automatic updates in Control Panel, automatic updates are enabled in fact! But still no update. My kids seem to think that I may have a problem, but my Anti Virus, free Avast says it all goes well and I also run regular scans with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware with the same result. Am I infected with something or is this just a message of thugs? Tahnks in advance for any response. Gary.
