I inadvertently did a forced change of the password on my Windows XP login and when I try and enter my old password to create a new password, I get the message that my password is incorrect. I myself have locked and can't get back in.

If you have created a reset before disk or you can log on as "Administrator", you can follow the steps detailed in this Document Microsoft Online:

If you actually cannot log on as an administrator or if you do not actually create a reset disk in the past then, unfortunately, you would be well advised to reinstall the operating system as there is no mechanism in place to recover a lost password. This, of course, is normal for a good reason.
