    Hi all
First of all, apologize for my English, I'm french :)

So my problem is that I would like to re - install everything on an A45-S250 using the recovery CD.
But the main problem is that the internal DVD player no longer exists.

I try plugging in an external DVD drive, but the laptop won't start on it.

I have seen that it can start with a disk, lan or SD card drive. But with opportunities of theses, how power reinstall everything include in the recovery CD?

I may have a usb floppy drive, so I'll be able to boot from a bootable disk. but then how to start the process of recovery CD?
I will prefer to use the recovery as a home standart WinXP CD, because I know that the OEM series will not work in an original version of Windows XP...

    Thanks for your help!

    Kubs

    Hello Kubs

I see only one solution: you have to somehow use external DVD player and make it visible to your laptop. I try didn t, but I guess you need to start your laptop using WXP startdisc and load the MS-DOS driver for external device.
If you will have success to access external hard drive I guess that you will be able to start the recovery procedure.

  • My CD/DVD burner does not work after installing Windows 7.

    Hello.

I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop (about 2 weeks ago), initially delivered with Windows Vista.

The facility is perfectly, and I enjoyed the simplicity of the new operating system.

Everything was going well for about 2 weeks.

I was able to burn CDs and DVDs.

But today, when my father asked me to burn a CD for him, Windows Media Player 12 says that I had to connect a burner and restart Windows Media Player 12.

I restarted the program, which did not work.

I restarted my computer, that didn't work.

I uninstalled my CD/DVD burner drivers and reinstalled them back on and I thought that WMP12 had started working.

But when I put the blank disc inside my laptop and started the burn, my computer gave me a message there was an error in burning the disc, and I had to close WMP12.

When I got the farm, WMP12 and then tells me to connect a burner and restart the program.

After that, I looked for the drivers online set to level, or to the bottom of the slope to.

    But none of them worked.

After that, I talked with a HP technician who told me that it is better to stick to the pre-installed operating system that comes with a computer and not downgrade or upgrade manually.

She also said that because my computer was made for Windows Vista, it was the compatible operating system for my internal hardware.

It gives me no drivers or anything to install.

I should have come to Microsoft first, because now I realize that HP has nothing to do with Windows 7.

    If Microsoft, I ask you:

When you install Windows 7 on an original Windows Vista laptop and that your CD/DVD writer works for about a week, then it stops working...

What should I do next to fix this? :(

    Please help ~!

    Hey Kyo - San,

Given that the troubleshooter could not see the CD DVD drive, you can try to navigate to the following location in the registry editor and deleted the upper filter and lower filter keys and check if it helps you get the job of CD DVD player.

    1. click on Startand then click all programs.

    2. in the start menu search box type regeditand press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    3. in the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    4. in the right pane, look for UpperFilters and UpperFilter key and select it.
Note You can also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You don't have to delete this entry. Click UpperFilters . If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you may still have to delete the LowerFilters registry entry.

    5. on the Edit menu, click delete.

    6. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    7. exit the registry editor.

    8 restart the computer.

Note: Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to delete the corrupted registry entries.

However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, follow these steps in the KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/

  • -DVD burn does not work in the DVD player sometimes

I have a Mac Pro from the beginning of 2008, and it came with a DVD drive (OPTIARC DVD RW AD - 7170A).  I was able to burn DVDs with using toast in the past.

But lately, the half of the DVD burn won't play in my DVD consumer player.  I get a "Disk error" message when I try to play them, and they do not load.  It's a strange problem, because some of them work and some do not.  I can't tell where the problem is.

Is there a way to test the DVD player?  Should I just replace it?

Many brands of blank DVDs gives very inconsistent results when burning. If you use a brand store or generic blanks, that may be the problem.

  • Need to reinstall Vista, but the DvD player does not work

Alright. That is the problem. I installed windows 7 on my laptop because a virus crashed my windows vista and the lost disk. After installing windows 7 my dvd player wouldn't even appear or open. As there is no power going to it. Before installing 7 worked well. I want to downgrade back to windows vista. I had an iso, mounted police and when installed would not let me because the car is not active or something. Went to disk management in the config of the admin and active player. That I reset. When starting it stops saying BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl alt del to restart. I don't know what else to do. Help, please.

Here's how to clean install Vista:

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • I have a computer running VISTA. The CD-ROM/DVD-rom does not work and can not read the CD of the program that I placed in it.

It won't read a DVD.  It will not read ANY CD or DVD.  I tried 12 different CD/DVD.  This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it.  I had added Nero.  I removed Nero.  I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled.  He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work.  The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '.  It is not the case.  It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.

I did everything suggested that past discussions.  I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly.  It is not the case.

I tried to get various programs to recognize.  They cannot see the installed media.

    I uninstalled iTunes.

Please do not give me the answer of cut-and - paste stock; It does not work.

Please tell me what to do to make Vista see the media inserted in the CD/DVD-RW drive.

    Thank you.

Here's the answer, just in case there is something you don't have, and I start up and down.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable
or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Please make all underneath the same if you've done it before as it's often the total of the process which
    solves
    the question.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Normally the above will solve this problem if not work your way down through them, even if you
    done before.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry settings for your
CD/DVD drive someone with the same model.

  • I installed Vista in a Virtualbox VM and the product key does not work, how to fix this? I use the same product key supplied with the computer originally.

I bought a Dell Precision T3400 of Dell Financial Services and it came with Vista Business installed.  I installed a new hard drive and installed Vista in a Virtualbox VM by using the recovery disk that came with the computer, and the product key does not work for activation.  I get a message that says I need to activate Windows, but he says that the product key is not valid.  How can I fix it?

    Thank you

If you have reinstalled the OEM of Vista Business copy on the new hard drive, as Bill says you can't also use it in a virtual machine.

You can only reuse your OEM of Vista professional copy if it is no longer used on the computer. Do you have what operating system installed on the new hard drive? It was an upgrade copy or complete the license?

If you used a license to upgrade to another edition of Windows to replace your copy of company then Vista Business license is still in use (for upgrade) and you cannot reuse it in your virtual machine.

However if you replaced Vista business with a copy of the full license of another edition then you are able to use the OEM copy in a virtual machine, but only on the same computer. You must use the product key from COA to the label on the computer. The product key is put in the copy OEM cannot find the SLIC table on the host motherboard. You must use the phone activation from within the virtual machine. Click on start in Vista Business and typing "slui 4. Do not meet the audio guests until it asks you if you want to speak to an agent. Explain that you have completely replaced the OEM copy with a copy of the full license of the new windows and now want to use the OEM copy in a virtual machine on the same computer. Agent will then give you the activation string. Remember that the virtual machine is not transferable to any other computer.
