I just got a call from the so-called azm1.protection.status.alert
I have no idea who/what it is. I did respond to the call. Has anyone else got this call for you? Is it Skype or should I worry?
Calls from this account isn't Skype and this account is now blocked.
In the future if you get a call like that of someone who claims to be Skype or informing you that your computer needs to download some software protection, then please report it to customer service: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1170/How-can-I-contact-Skype-Customer-Service

I just got a call from the same thing with the eventvwr in the race, I just wrote it down at the bottom, if it is a scam What are they actually accomplishing? This gives them access to our computers? They do not seem to be asking for money or that comes up when they try to "fix"?

I just got a call from someone who said they were from Microsoft. It was obviously of the India. In any case, he said that there are problems with my computer and it asked me to do something, I would not. He hung up. He told me to click the button of windows on my keyboard. Then he told me type something in and running. But I refused. I said, how end I call Microsoft and give them your name... HE HUNG UP.
Hello DianeMcGettigan,
It is simply one of the many scams that are doing the tour.
Unless you have a prepaid support contract with Microsoft, then Microsoft will never contact you by phone, mail or e-mail about problems with your PC. You did while refusing to allow him access to your PC. All they want to do is to have access to your PC, so they can steal personal data (banking etc.) on your part.
This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or the opinion of Microsoft, its employees or other MVPS.

You did the right thing.
Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.
Please see:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .
Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.
These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

I just got a call from somewhere in India that I have problems with my computer.
Original title: hoax call?I just got a call from somewhere in India that I have problems with my computer. They know this, because I have generated error reports. When I asked how I could be sure who they were they led me to a screen with a ref to no error report. and he cites correctly for me. When I was asked to sign up for control of my computer for them to correct these errors, I refused and hung up. What happens with all those errors that we report to microsoft when our computers generate the error reports and how these appellants knew my error report reference.
Fake phone calls to technical support
Such unsolicited telephone calls are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, donot give access to your PC, not give them all the money and donot go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.
Error reports contain no personally identifiable information. These people are hoping that your system recently sent to Microsoft to make their call seems more legitimate.
