I just upgraded and now Firefox is not yet open!

Can I revert to a previous version

What happens when you try to start Firefox?

Some things that might be relevant according to the answer...

Sometimes Firefox 'hangs' when starting. The process is in memory but no longer works. In this case, you may need to use the Windows Task Manager to 'kill' the process.

  • You can launch Windows Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + SHIFT + ESC.
  • First check the Applications tab, and then look under the tab process (for firefox.exe).
  • You can select the item of blocking and use the end task button or complete the process. Note that if Firefox were actually used, it could result in data loss, but since it is not yet displayed, it should be OK.

Sometimes a firewall program control will block an update Firefox as being possibly modified by malicious software. In these cases, it can help to erase any reference to Firefox between the firewall and do detect again the application when you try to start it.

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

  • I trashed my mimetypes.rdf file to restore stocks of download, and now Firefox will not open because profile missing, please notify

Until very recently, when I want to download a pdf file, it will open automatically, and recently, for some reason, it stopped automatically opening and just downloaded on my desktop where I wanted. I found the instructions on Mozilla if files uploaded but not display, displaying my profile and then folder to delete. I've trashed (different from delete?) and now if I try to open Firefox, I get the message that Firefox cannot open/load because the profile is missing. Please tell us how can I get the profile folder in.

    Thank you

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

  • I've updated to 8.0 and now firefox will not open and I get an error message indicating that 7.0.1 is not compatible with version 8.0 of the Min and max version 8.0. What can I do now?

I tried to uninstall 7.0.1 and reinstall only and still it would not to date and problems such as the loss of my favorites and have different toolbars and Add ons whenever I opened it. I lost so many bookmarks and it became so frustrating that I decided to try to upgrade to see if that could overcome the problems. And now I have this problem. When I did a search on my hard drive to see the components of firefox how was I found firefox files and documents in all directions and I was wondering if I should just delete everything related to firefox to clean all residual files which could be causing problems and then start a clean download , but I didn't want to delete files in windows and didn't know what I should delete and I have to leave. Can anyone help? I miss my firefox and the wish that I had never upgraded to 7.0.1.

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

Hi wskossack, I'm sorry to hear that you have problems with Firefox 36. I also regret that we have not been able to get this working for you yet.

If what you really want is to uninstall Firefox we can do. Of course, I have to ask if you'd be willing to let my help allows you to get the most up to the working version of Firefox. But Firefox is all about the ability to customize. If you want we can install the latest version of Firefox and you can use it until the next version comes out or while we work to get 36 Firefox works for you. I will try to cover all the options in my answer.

First of all, I turn the uninstall of Firefox. If you want to watch the article click here that this can be done in 7 steps

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Firefox and install again. This will fix likely problems you have right now. Because you're asking how to do this, I'll assume that you have not tried this.

If you have Vista or Windows 7:

    (1) close all open Firefox Windows.

    (2) at the start menu click Control Panel

    (3) click on uninstall a program

    (4) from this list chose Firefox

    (5) click on uninstall (they are located up turds)
If the uninstall wizard does not work, you can start it manually by running helper.exe, located in one of these locations by default:
    (32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe
    (64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe

    (6) in the Firefox uninstall wizard click Next and on the next page, click Uninstall and then click on finish

    (7) to remove other files and folders that cannot be removed by uninstall it, you must manually remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations by default:

       (32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
       (64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

The uninstall program removes all the data user such as history or bookmarks. To completely remove these data, you must manually delete the folder containing your Firefox user profile:

       Click the Windows Start button.

Type %APPDATA% in the search field and press enter to open the hidden Roaming folder.

       Open the Mozilla folder

    .

       Delete the Firefox folder.

Now, I'll go on how to get the latest version of Firefox installed on your computer. If you want to watch the article click here . If you decide that's what you want please read the article for more information security helpless.

Firefox 35.0.1 was the latest version of Firefox, and you can get it by clicking here . The link is also in the article. If you do this, you will need to disable the automatic update. To do this, go to options, then go to advance. The title of the advance, there will be a subtab. You want to go to update. You can then select never check or to tell you when there is an update.

So the only thing left is for me to help you with any problem you are having with Firefox 36. I hope that you will give me a chance. In any case, if you need more information or help with everything I went please let me know.

Make sure that you run not Firefox mode full screen (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Ctrl + Shift + F).

You see the orange Firefox button if the menu bar is hidden (view > toolbars).

If the menu bar is hidden, then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the call of menu bar.

Make toolbars like the toolbar 'Navigation' and the 'personal bar' are visible: "view > toolbars" or "Firefox > Options.
