I keep El Capitan, but Food Lion of Time Machine on a new partition on HDD. Is this possible?

I run a Macbook Pro in 2011. I recently updated my OS from the Lion to El Capitan.

Unfortunately, a major program I need to use is not compatible with the new OS X 10.11.

Fortunately I made when I was still on 10.7, a time Machine backup before the update.

I think to partition my internal drive to keep El Capitan, but also restore Lion of my Time Machine backup on the new partition. This way I can continue to use the program, I need by starting the Lion of the second partition.

Is this feasible? If so, how can I restore Lion of Time Machine after partitioning my drive?

Thanks in advance. Any help is very appreciated.

Yes, but only if your computer can boot from a system of Lion. With regard to the full system restore using Time Machine: Please consult the FAQ of Time Machine of Pondini for help with Time Machine. It is a vast site with almost everything that you need for using Time Machine. You will not find a better resource for Time Machine in one place. I am looking to buy a 'new' ipod classic. IPod Superstore claims get the new Apple iPod that Apple is still making them for 5 years, but only to sell them to a few suppliers for resale. Is this possible?

Probably not still making them, but Apple political is to the service of produced at least five years after they is no longer manufactured and sold

"Owners of iPhone, iPad, iPod or Mac products can get the services and Apple parts or service providers from Apple for 5 years after that the product is longer manufactured,' which is

Vintage and obsolete products - Apple Support

With the iPod, 'maintenance' means often giving you a replacement to pay the off-guarantee fee, which is $ 299 for the last classic model of the iPod, according to this document

Pricing of the Service - The Apple iPod Support

So Apple probably has a stock that's enough to last up to five years after 2014 (when the last classic model of the iPod has been abandoned).  This provider is unlikely to be an authorized dealer, as well as the iPod has not perhaps be covered by the standard warranty of one year.  That's why it comes in a regular white box, not a retail box.  It's supposed to be a replacement of maintenance for the iPod classic (latest model) owners.  It can be 'used', but it is still old.  Parts like LCD, HDD and the age of the battery by sitting in a warehouse.

    Back up your data.

In order to reinstall Lion, you will first need to ERASE the HARD drive (hence the need to back up your data).  Then you should be able to reinstall LION.

  • El Capitan to 10.11.6 now airport Time Machine keeps disconnecting update

I've just updated El Capitan to 10.11.6.  Now the airport Time Machine keeps disconnecting. Any suggestions?

Time Machine is a software on your Mac, which is used to save the contents of your Mac (s) at an airport Time Capsule.

An Airport Time Capsule is a wireless router with a hard drive built-in, designed to store backups Time Machine of your Mac (s).

With this in mind, could you give more details about the problem you are having?  Disconnection from the airport Time Capsule or disconnecting from Time Machine?

Do you get any error messages? If so, what exactly is the message that you receive?

  • Time machine keeps 'prepare' update

I noticed yesterday that this time machine turned when I was on finder. (the small wheel circulating)  I checked and the last update was December 27, several days ago.  I have not updated anything or any news apps in.  Nothing has changed.  I am running Yosemite 10.10.5. on my day 2010 27 "iMac.  After searching for communities, I saw one say to uncheck "put the hard drives to sleep when possible" under the energy saver.  I did and it made no difference.  I get all records of time machine that there is a problem, he just keeps trying to update.  I disabled the time Machine for some time and then restarted, it and got the same.  I removed the current and then attached to time machine backup drive, but no difference.  (the disc has 855 GB 2T available and is about a year.) Have no idea that it would take 5/6 days to prepare to be updated even though I had added something new.

If I update to El Capitan would be it reset Time Machine.  I've been putting it off power to ensure that most of the bugs are out.

  • Time Machine asking to create new backup, backups, but seems to work very well

Time Machine tells me that he wants to delete my backup history and create a new backup volume, but it seems to be back up files very well. I use an Apple AirPort WiFi. Must I just keep ignoring Time machine to start a new backup volume? I really don't want to lose my backup history.

    Something is not here.

When time Machine tell the backup is corrupt and he must wipe... then it can save is more to it.

That probably makes TM uses your local hard drive to a backup snapshot from the network on your Time Capsule version (or AE more USB drive) is now corrupted.

Sorry, but your history of Time Machine is now dead and lost... and just need to bury. There is rarely any great point by making a backup of the sparsebundle... but if you are adamant then for sure just copy the sparsebundle to a different location... erase the drive, and then start over... You have no choice.

  • Retrieve the backup Time Machine to iPhoto with El Capitan

I had issues with my hard drive and decided I do a backup of my computer using Time Machine, install a new hard drive and reinstall my OS X. Once I had installed my new hard drive, I used my old one (via a 2.5 USB eSATA cable) to install from the recovery partition and I was prompted to install OS X El Capitan. All this went well and I've been operating pretty quickly.

The problem: I have a file "iPhotoLibrary.migratedphotolibrary", I found in my new Time Machine backup the Photo app does not recognize. I saw that you can always download the latest version of iPhoto, if you can find it in your App store, but I never bought iPhoto isn't in my tab "purchased."

Possible solution?: I have earlier versions of Mac OS X in my tab 'Bought' in the App Store. I can download one from OS X, put on a bootable disc, partion of my hard drive and install OS X on the new partition? I say, older versions will iPhoto and I can open my file "iPhotoLibrary.migratedphotolibrary" and export my photos from there?

I really want to do: Have a way to import my file into the new Photo on El Capitan app.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Visit Time Machine FAQ of Pondini helps with Time Machine. It is a vast site with almost everything that you need for using Time Machine. • Time Machine don't prune the old El Capitan backups and works out of space and "backup fails.

With the help of El Capitan 10.11.1, I noticed a change in behavior with the handling of the time Machine of large files, specifically the files of virtual disk VMWare Fusion (about 50 large concerts).  After a few weeks of use of fusion VM virtual machine, Time Machine gives an error where it ran out of space and "backup failed."

I had the same problem occur on a second iMac that I own.

I reformatted my external drive for Time Machine and started fresh, but after a few weeks, I got the same error again.  It seems that Time Machine is not the size or remove older backups of VMware virtual disk to provide a space for the new.

Previous versions of Mac OS X and Time Machine had no problem with the backup of large files such as these.

Has anyone else noticed "backup failed" message with Time Machine on El Capitan?  I know that I can exclude the disk virtual VMware backup, but that defeats the entire purpose of Time Machine backups.  Any suggestions?

Time Machine automatically deletes older snapshots to make room for the new. If your backup history is shorter than expected, it may be because you want to save one or more large files frequently.

Software virtualization VMware, Parallels or VirtualBox creates a large virtual disk container that is constantly evolving. It will not be saved at all while the virtual machine running, and at other times it must be saved each Time Machine performance. Who fills up quickly any backup destination.

You must exclude files from virtual drive of your Time Machine backups. To do this, click the Options button in the Time Machine preferences window. You can also do this to virtualization, application settings. Back up the files on the virtual disk within the comments system, using a native backup application.

A compromise solution is to create a 'snapshot' of the virtual machine in the virtualization software (not a Time Machine snapshot.) This will give you a single large file that never changes and only has to be saved once. All future changes will be stored in a file that is much smaller initially, but will grow over time. You must always exclude this backup TM file. If you need to restore the computer virtual of Time Machine, you will have a working configuration, which will be easy for you to restore the rest of the data in the system of comments.

  • I want to download El Capitan, but KEEP the installer

I want to download El Capitan, but KEEP the installation program.

I have a partitioned hard drive, (I need to keep old versions of Mac OS because I do video editing).

How can I keep El Capitan Installer?   As many know, in the world of the downloaded software, installers can be removed or disappear. I like to keep a copy of things as much as possible.

    Thank you.

As soon as the download is complete, it will jump to the top of the installation start screen. Press command-Q to stop the installation. Open the Applications folder and copy the El Capitan installer in any drive you want as a backup.

I El capitan, but stopped opening safari says impossible to find something wrong with the application extension

You can open it by accessing it in the Applications folder? If so, you may have a corrupt Dock alias. Click and hold the alias and make it about 1 inch away from the docking station, then release. Then drag the application in the Applications folder in the Dock to create a new alias. When you have a new alias, control - click/Options/keep in Dock.

  • Can I update to El Capitan directly from Lion?  I have an iMac 24 "early 2009.  I want to do this?

I think the Lion upgrade completely to El Capitan.  First of all, can I do this? I have an IMac in early 2009.  Are there reasons why I wouldn't want to do that?

Well, we can tell you that you should or should not pass, that decision is yours alone.  We can tell you the benefits of upgrading, but ultimately, it is for you to take advantage of them if you wish.

To upgrade to El Capitan, your computer must be one of the following conditions:

    • iMac (mid-2007 or newer)
    • MacBook (late 2008 or early 2009 or newer aluminium)
    • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    • MacBook Air (late 2008 or newer)
    • Mac mini (early 2009 or newer)
    • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)

So, if you have a 2009 iMac, then Yes, your computer can handle the upgrade.  You would from the App Store.  If you choose, make sure that you back up your system with Time Machine or something like CarbonCopyCloner.  Obviously, the upgrade: a more stable, secure system, and that you use the latest version of Safari, which is more stable and more secure than previous iterations.
