  You can use an ethernet cable between the modem (= the internet connector) and the iMac.

  WiFi is like an invisible computer thread worms (among others) the modem. When you switch WiFi off, your computer cannot reach the modem and so there is no internet on your computer.

  OVET the past 2 weeks, my internet connection crashes. I'm going to dianose and the repair center and get a message 'reset with network adapter' and I press OK.
