loss of activation key for a reinstallation of Windows XP sp2 cd. P/N KY938 rating
Hello. I used a (Ms Win XP Pro Sp 2) dell reinstallation CD to format my laptop (it came with the laptop). later, I discovered that I had lost the activation key. I can't activate it online cos it keeps asking for the key. Please, can someone help me? It's pretty urgent!
the disc has a notation ' P/N KY938' down, and it's under Copyright 2007 MS corporation. .. more! God bless u!If you install a Dell supplied CD/DVD restore on Dell computer that it shipped with it should never ask the COA/key... The only time where I came across a plant from a Dell CD/DVD requiring a COA/key is because it has been installed on the non-Dell hardware. He has scoped during the installation of the system on which it was delivered with.
I don't think that Dell will sell you a new set with installation of COST but can Microsoft. Not sure about the cost.

In the case of a computer from a major manufacturer contact them via their web site. Many have recovery media low cost for just the situation you encounter. Also they can cause (however unlikely) a new product key to replace the one that has rubbed off. If all else fails see also: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246 -

How to activate Win 7 Home Premium SP1 if I have a product key for Win 7 Home Premium without SP1
I bought the Dell with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium computer. I recently had a problem with the firewall system and found that the only solution is to reinstall Windows. I downloaded .iso with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 because my current version has been already upgraded to SP1. After that I installed it, it asked me to enter the product key. I have provided the product key, but he says it's a bad touch and I realized that my product key must be for Windows 7 Home Premium without SP1.
I downloaded .iso with Windows 7 Home Premium without SP1, but I can't install it now because it says that my current version is newer than the one I am trying to install. What can I do about it now? Can I get a product key for Win 7 Home Premium SP1 if I have Win 7 Home Premium? Service pack 1 is free anyway...If you have downloaded a Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 integrated, you should be able to use the product key located on the COA sticker in the battery compartment.
Skip entering product key and complete the installation.
Click Start, right click on computer
Click on properties
Scroll down to the Windows Activation
Click on the link 'change product key '.
Enter the product key located on the COA sticker attached to the bottom of your laptop or in the battery compartment. Click next to activate via the Internet.

I lost my product key for my windows 7.
I lost my product key for my windows 7, but I still have my tht to recite, I bought with, is there anyway I can get it, please help
Then its likely that win7 has provided preinstalled by the manufacturer of your PC and as such, its display of the volume used by the PC manufacturer, key which is not the same as that which would have been attached to the label on your PC
If the case, a pre-installed version of win, then ask the recovery disks from the manufacturer of your PC, for which there is a fee, these discs would not usually require any key will be used.
Or to explain more in detail where you obtained the real dvd win7

My activation key for windows 7 (bought from my college) does not work. How can I contact someone who can help?
-MikeHello djplexus
First, you will need to understand how to set up the dual boot. This will allow you to be able to choose between XP and 7 at startup. With regard to the creation of an image of Windows XP Backup there is no Windows XP software that will do it for you. You will need to look to third-party vendors for support with this issue. Thank you.
