I'm building a new computer from scratch. Is it possible to transfer my windows xp OS from my old computer to the new?

I'm putting together a new mini computer from scratch. Is it possible to recover my Windows XP and install it in my new computer?

This license/copy of Windows XP OEM is * linked * to this Dell system.  It is * not * transferable to any other system.  This is part of the OEM license agreement.  In other words - you did not have licensed copy for Windows XP - the Dell system has.  You may not have known/done this so far - and it can't make you very happy with the situation.

A decent (albeit simplified) explanation of the difference between a detail a Windows XP license and OEM Windows XP license:

As you can see - there's a reason that the OEM license was cheaper and cheaper aspect was why Dell it came with the PC.

I just bought a new computer, and I just discovered that I can't spend my version of 12 items from my old PC to my new PC because it came with a license for one computer only.  I bought 14 items today at the store.  How can I move all of my photos of 12 items on my old PC (which are all nicely filed), for my new PC in 14 elements?  I would appreciate any help with my question.  Thank you.

    Hello

You must make a backup of your catalog with items 12 and then restore using 14 items. A guide for the backup and restore are help from Elements Organizer | Back up or restore the catalogs.

  • How can I import my favorites from an old version to the new version of firefox?

I want to improve Firefox from an earlier version to a more recent, but I have a lot of favorites that I want to how I do it and what is the best way? Help, please.

When you perform an installation upgrade, Firefox usually migrates the settings automatically for you. However, 3.5 is quite an old version, so I don't know if it will work the first time, or if you may need to upgrade in two steps: first to 3.6, and then at 17.

First, I suggest you back up your complete folder of parameters, so you can restart the process if necessary. This article explains how to get the file; You can just make a copy outside the path of Mozilla: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Second, you can export your bookmarks to an HTML file as an additional option. This file must also be registered somewhere safe. You will find the export function in the dialog box Organize Favorites? (Things may have moved...)

    These steps work?

How can I transfer my settings, files, and programs (e.g., office) from my old PC to the new PC?

Microsoft Office and other applications will need to be reinstalled from their original installation disk or install files. Make sure you have your product key for your applications.

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:

In what concerns your personal files and settings, you can save them using Windows Easy Transfer and restore them on your new computer, you can have an external hard drive for this task.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

I highly recommend using Windows Easy Transfer, as it stores a lot of what you miss by a manual copy and paste. For example, dictionaries customized in Microsoft Word and bookmarks and other custom settings for third-party applications that are stored in the folder (hidden) of AppSettings.

Profile of Thunderbird folders are hidden files, so first make hidden files visible.

Even if your files are now in drive E, not C.

If you have downloaded Thunderbird to new pc and run it for the first time, it will create a profile, but do not create the exisitng e-mail accounts. Then you copy the contents of the old drive hard e: drive - profile folder (not the folder real profile, that all the files in the profile folder) and paste them into the profile folder overwrite the default files.

  • NOA60AAHABL: Copy CD from my old PC

I tried several days copy CDs to backup music from my old PC to the new PC without a bit of luck. When I insert a CD on the disc, nothing happens except for a window in the bottom right corner popping up to tell me to click on it.

On XP it was just a matter of inserting a CD, and it started downloading.
The only thing that happens is that there are several files now called 'Music', but the folders are empty.

The problem is resolved. I asked a 14 years in the neighberhod and it "on a link" I could access the media player.
Very strange that a person must activate certain things on this stupid Win10, who, in my opinion, are supposed to be there.
Quite frankly, I find it appalling that a company sells computers and operating systems and leave it to the 'Community' to fix things.

  • I am trying to recover my old favorites (and, hopefully, history) from my old computer to transfer to my new computer.

I got the hard drive from my old computer and am trying to transfer my old files to it, but I'm not sure where to find the old bookmarks files. It would be wonderful if you could also help to recover the history - I was in the habit of keeping a large number of tabs open and simply restore everytime I restarted my computer, so a lot of data was lost when my computer crashed.

    Hello

If the backup files are intact, then you would be able to copy the files required in the backup after installing Firefox and it works at least once in the new PC.

    Backup

    Firefox profile folder

You must copy and overwrite the files needed from the old profile folder in the same folder structure in the new profile. Some important files might be places.sqlite who holds the bookmarks and history, the cert8.db that stores personal and other certificates, signons3.txt + signons.sqlite that stores websites registered names to user/passwords etc. To open the profile folder, in Firefox, help (Alt + H) > troubleshooting information > Open the containing folder and the release of Firefox.
