  Contact Toshiba if it is a machine of toshiba and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

  When you try to activate Windows 8, this means that you are using a product key for an upgrade of Windows 8 version and a previous version of Windows wasn't on your PC when Windows 8 was installed. To install a Windows 8 upgrade version, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.
