  • No CD operating system created by the function 'Create the recovery media' - Windows/Vista/SP1

    I bought a R61 with Vista Business installed for the purpose of this downgrade to Windows/XP. I noted with interest that the system had arrived with VISTA/SP1 is installed. First thing I did was summon the Thinkvantage Rescue to create and support recovery in the case where I decided to go back to Vista at some point in the future. After you have created all of the proceeds of the recovery disks and being the creative professional that I am, I decided to test the newly created disks. Three DVD has been created. When I tried to restore the system from these backups, I learned that I didn't have a CD of the operating system. None of the 3 DVD was recognized as a CD of the operating system. Unfortunately at this point in the process, the hard drive had been wiped out and I didn't have a working computer. My only alternative was to restore using the recovery media to Windows/XP that were in the area and call Lenovo and request recovery Vista media. They arrived very quickly, so I deleted the XP image and restore the image of Vista from Lenovo's Vista recovery disks. I was very disappointed to discover that there was no SP1 Vista recovery disks. To make matters worse, when I tried to call the 'create recovery media' of this image of Vista, I even created a box of 3 DVD recovery DVDs that once again, did not contain an operating system CD.

    I find myself with the situation that I can't get the exact picture that was on my computer, when it left the factory. I don't know that besides as SP1, it should have been revised pilots and others who came with this machine originally, and which I am not aware. These could create strange incompatibilities I had to install Vista/Sp1 from the Microsoft site on top of the current generation of Vista.

    Is it possible to get a Vista Business/Sp1 for the R61 recovery support?

    Moreover, my computer is Windows XP now and recovery media created from this environment of work like a charm. I know. I tried them.

    It took a few months to get a handle on this, but here is the final solution.

    First of all, the person who suggested that if the first media was on DVD, to copy it to a CD to work had no idea what they were talking about. Either works just as well, even if Lenovo suggests that the first must be a CD.

    As usual, the 'problem' was caused by poor documentation. When you perform a set of recovery using Rescue and Recovery Media, you do not create an "operating system CD", and this is normal. When you get a set of recovery CD / DVD from Lenovo, you will always get one which is marked "operating system CD.

    Different sets through processes of different recovery and rescue and recovery needs to know what kind of game you have, it allows to perform the correct process.  It does this by asking the question "Do you have an OS CD?" Based on the answer she executes a process or another and expects different content on the CD / DVD that are presented to him. You cannot mix DVD upward between the two processes. If you say Reccue and recovery that you have a CD of the operating system (ie. provided by Lenovo) and present it with media created by you using the process of "Creating rescue media", the recovery fails.

    Finally, I went back and restored my machine using the DVD that I created initially using Rescue and Recovery. I answered 'NO' to the question "Do you have an OS CD?" and ended with a perfectly functional R61 VISTA/SP1. He didn't stay for long, however. Then I reinstalled XP using the provided Lenovo recovery CD, I answered YES to the question and ended up with a fully functional XP R61. Now, everything's fine.

  • Why the help and support of software still pop - up when I click on the buttons in Windows Vista SP1?

    I have this laptop to my cousin, because he does not use it more because of some problems. I tried several methods, but I still have this problem. When I open any software, automatically help and support appears.

    I hope you can help tnx I...

    Hi Jalke116,

    You can try these steps and see if it helps.

    Step 1:

    You can try to perform a clean boot and check if the problem persists.

    A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

    You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    After you resolve the problem, see the section on boot link to how to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Step 2:

    You can also read the following article and try to download the Microsoft Safety Scanner and perform a full scan on your computer.

    Microsoft safety scanner

    Note: When you perform the analysis, there are chances of losing the data that you can take a backup of important data before performing analysis.

  • Need advice on the video card / power supply upgrade

    OK, first of all I am a novice to PC. But I have a HP pavilion a6600f. I wan to be able to play games like Battlefield BC2 but graphics integrated card wont cut it. I checked some info and found what motherboard I have. Its a FOXCONN Napa HP P/N. There is a link to the Board of Directors in case it might help you to answer my question. http://www.cnsunnyit.com/products/HP-motherboard-KJ383-69002_78.html

    This motherboard is a card like a GeForce 7800 GT or ATI X 1900? These cards are what is suggested as a Minimum for this game. Also maps would require me to get a 400W power supply. The power supply can be changed as well? All the answers you may have would be great. Also remember that I know very little in terms of pc in order to keep its simple for a simpleton like me. Thank you!

    Hi 223fmj,

    You came to the right place.

    Yes, you can update your graphics card. More than all that depends on ports inside your PC.  Depending on your motherboard (HP) card , you can install PCI Express x 16 graphics cards.

    To reinstall Vista.

    You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery discs, IF it is still available.

    They should do this for a small fee.

    And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.

    The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

    Them or us ask the right sequence of key.

    And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

    Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

    If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  • Need to download the iso of Windows installation DVD or usb 7.1 when booting via the BIOS

    Original title: ISO WINDOWS 7.1

    My hard drive has failed on a Toshiba laptop.  I installed a new drive and now need to reinstall Windows 7.1 I purchased pre-installed on the laptop, which was not supplied with a recovery disk or an installation disc.

    I need to download the iso of Windows installation DVD or usb 7.1 when started by the BIOS.

  • Guard application launch at the start of the appliance, also need advice for the implementation of network methods

    Hi all

    I'm new to the development of Blackberry and I'm writing a relatively simple application to run on 7.1.

    So far the development was interesting, I managed to create my user interface using resources online (mainly this forum), but today I tried to implement some of the network classes that I need and now I just met constant problems.

    I use Eclipse SDK 3.7.2 (the one that comes with the plugin RIM)

    First question:

    I'm not sure what I changed, but today I noticed that whenever I start the Simulator (by sim 9360) my application is started during the initial startup process. I don't think he did this before, but to be honest, I wasn't paying much attention. I think it starts at the start of the device is because I put a breakpoint in the constructor for my class from the main screen, which is hit before the Simulator happens even to the point where it is ready for user interaction. In addition, once it is ready, if I press the BB button, I see my registered application.

    I don't have it set to automatic start in .xml descriptior enforcement.

    I started this application on the HelloBlackBerry sample, here is my main method for the entry of the application:

    public static void main( String[] args ) {
            appSettings = AppSettings.fetch();
            // Create a new instance of the application and make the currently
            // running thread the application's event dispatch thread.
            HelloBlackBerry theApp = new HelloBlackBerry();
            theApp.enterEventDispatcher();
            //openConnection();

        }

    As far as I know, this is the only entry point for the application.

    More code

        public HelloBlackBerry() {
            // Push a screen onto the UI stack for rendering.
            mainScreen = new ScreenHelloBlackBerry();
            pushScreen( mainScreen );
        }

    Here is the method of. my class AppSettings fetch()

        // Retrieves a copy of the effective properties set from storage.
        public static AppSettings fetch()
        {
            AppSettings savedSettings = (AppSettings) _store.getContents();
            return new AppSettings(savedSettings);
        }

    Some of this code that I wrote myself, the persistence store cause the launch of my car?

    I tried to reset the Simulator to the factory settings, no change.

    All applications initialized during the startup of the device and then closed shortly after?

    Part 2: Need advice for the implementation of functions of network in the application

    I need to implement some methods that will retrieve data from a web service, and I also need to send data to this service. What I've read, the ConnectionFactory is the way to go. I want my application to make a request when the application is open and can check on a set interval. I didn't know exactly how to go about adding another thread for networking, I understand that network connections should not be created on the thread main event, so I tried to do this:

    The constructor of my class that implements screen (ScreenHelloBlackBerry), I use the following to create a modal dialog box to prompt the user for a username, I also try networking wire in the same segment of spawning:

            public ScreenHelloBlackBerry(){...initialize fields and managers, add it all together...then near the end

    //This will open the confirm dialog when the application is launched
            UiApplication.getUiApplication().invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                  public void run() {
                      openConfirmDialog();
                    //start connection - Possibly broken
                      ConnectionThread ct = new ConnectionThread();
                      ct.start();
                  }
            });

    I don't know if it's somehow OK to do, but it seems to work for what I need. I want a user who launches the application at the prompt, and if a user switch applications, when they come back they wondered again (unless they close the app and reopen it).

    Here is my ConnectionThread:

    public class ConnectionThread extends Thread
    {

        public void run()
        {

              ConnectionFactory connFact = new ConnectionFactory();
              ConnectionDescriptor connDesc;
              connDesc = connFact.getConnection("http://www.google.com");
              if (connDesc != null)
              {
                  HttpConnection httpConn;
                  httpConn = (HttpConnection)connDesc.getConnection();
                  try
                  {
                      final int iResponseCode = httpConn.getResponseCode();
                      UiApplication.getUiApplication().invokeLater(new Runnable()
                      {
                          public void run()
                          {
                              Dialog.alert("Response code: " +
                                            Integer.toString(iResponseCode));

                          }
                       });
                      httpConn.close();

                   }
                   catch (IOException e)
                   {
                     System.err.println("Caught IOException: "
                          + e.getMessage());
                   }
              }
        }
    }

    At the moment it has basically unmodified code from a sample that I found, I'll be retooling to meet my needs whenever I can make it work. I HAD this work to the point where, after the closed user confirm this dialog, a few moments later a an alert dialog appears with the 302 response code. I don't know what changed, but now it doesn't work at all, and if I try to scroll with the debugger, I can't past the httpCon.getResponseCode (). I've seen some mistakes earlier on "no record of service was set up", and I also had once a timeout exception.

    I'm sure I'm doing this wrong, but at the same time as I said WAS working, and now it is not. If someone has done this far, thank you very much for your time and advice are much appreciated.

    Also, should I try to start the thread of the network of the UIApplication class instead of the screen? There is currently very little happening in the class that extends UIApplication, do I spend most of my business logic out of the class of the screen and in the UIApplication class?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi all

    Just to conclude this topic for those who are interested, I found an excellent guide to the implementation of networks in applications of BB, click here for a link.

    About my application being started at the start of the simulator of the device, I found that on a device real this behavior is not complied with, and in addition, the behaviour seems to have stopped after uninstallation and reinstallation of my Simulator.

    Hello:

    See if you can make your own Vista installation disc if you can read the product key 25 character on the bottom of your laptop.

    Here's how:

    If you are in a fault light but rewarding you can do yourself if you can read your product key of Vista on the PC of 25 characters.

    You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

    Do not take into account the part of the text in the first screen shot about "extract the files in the folder of Vista."

    The files were extracted already in this folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screenshot.

    The other thing I noticed is on the 4th page, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in me, and then other codes already filled in.

    When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

    I selected no, make the ISO file.

    It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

    I tested both of them one my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, worked flawlessly.

    When you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    After you install Vista successfully, you can then install the drivers for your PC and driver page support.

    Hello

    You are welcome

    If the CD/DVD drive in the works of PC Gateway, you can (at least temporarily) remove it and install it in the HP, you can run your recovery disc and reinstall Vista.  Once everything is running on the HP, you can always remove the CD/DVD drive and reinstall it in the gateway PC if you wish.

  • Is it possible to get the files for windows vista, so I can reinstall my system?

    Hello

    Im a user of linux on one machine HP Pavilion dv5-1095eo leisure. IM tired to restart my machine to run a windows OS, so is possible for me to get the files for windows vista. I got the windows key attached under the computer and I don't have any windows CD when I brought the machine.

    Hello:

    You can do your own installation disc Vista too if you wish.

    If you can read your 25-character product key MS, you can make your own Windows Vista installation disc. You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

    I tested both of them (just before going forward with the actual facility) and they seem to work perfectly.

    Apparently, when you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    After you have successfully installed vista, you can download the drivers you need your PC support and driver page.
