My husband was the administrator of our computer and he died in June.  I don't know what it is.  I never needed to know because he took care of everything.  How to change or find out what it is.  The system restore disk will do it

    Hello

The system restore disk will not help you find the password. Unfortunately, you cannot change the password without knowing the administrator password. If you have another
account administrator on the computer, then you can log in to that account and change the password from there. Since you have a restore disc, you can reinstall Windows and
    start all over again.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to provide assistance of password cracking. However, by default Windows administrator account is hidden subject to a new account with administrative privileges has been created. Start the computer in Safe Mode. If an additional admin account has been created, you will be presented with the option to choose the default Administrator account. You can choose to log in to this account and if no password has been set for this account, you can use it to remove passwords for other accounts. Otherwise, you will need to use Google to find an answer.

    1. it depends on how your password has been strong, experienced how are thieves and how long they have.  If you have a password (alpha-numberic with special signs) and thieves are not very experienced, they can't

2-If your password is not strong, or that they are very experienced, they may very well.

3 - If you have the key and can prove to the satisfaction of MS they can mark the invalid key and they will not be able to get updates etc.

  • How to replace or change the administrator password.

Original title: I've got a helping hand me down from the laptop. The previous owner was also the administrator. She forgets all THE passwords.

Please help if you can tell me how can I know or overide the administrator password and the password of the office she now had on users page where you select the user who will use the laptop. As you can see, I'm not computer very warned, I am on SSI and was thrilled to have the laptop to help me but I can't get the passwords I need to help remove, install or difficulty of the programs, files and as I manage problems. I try to install or uninstall something or the computer tells me that I have to do something and then the administrator password is necessary. I went to the Helpdesk and they were very useful for what they could do for free and it can all work but I can't access anything until I can log on to the Office of the administrator first, then do as I was directed by Microsoft Help Desk. Anyone who could help me I would be happy because I can't afford to take it to a professional. And I have no idea how to get around the administrator passwords. I looked for administrator password forgotten, but he did not come. I need to access any of the password for the administrator Office, and then I could get into some other areas or try the Help Desk tells me. Or if anyone knows how to do all this, I had like to hear on your part, thank you.

  • Need to enter the administrator password before I can download the software upgrade

I found I need to install an upgrade of the software, but cannot do without an ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD ... which I don't have (or I had not one when I implemented that stand-alone pc, or I forgot whether I don't have an administrator password to use).

Can someone tell me how to find what it is, how to change it, or how to make my normal "logon" Administrator status (without having to set an administrator password, because that's the problem I have).

I tried various methods, but everyone tells me that I need the ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD and so I'm stuck.

I've seen a lot of suggestions for the windows password (which I guess is different for the ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD), because none of the suggestions for this work without an administrator password.

    Hello Jules.

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

    1. is the issue specific to the installation of software updates?
    2. what troubleshooting have you done when you say, 'I have tried different methods?

Thank you for details on the question and your efforts to resolve.

This problem may occur either if the user account control settings can not correct because of where it stops installation or there is a problem with the registry keys that control the installation of a program.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Run this Microsoft fixit and check.
    Reference:
The problems that the programs cannot be installed or uninstalled
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall

If this does not help, use method 2.

    Method 2:
Disable user account control and then try to install the software updates.
    Reference:
    Disable UAC in Windows 8
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/hyperyash/archive/2012/07/18/disabling-user-account-control-in-Windows-8.aspx

    Important notes:

Control (UAC) user account can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users. We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.

Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can imagine the disadvantages suffered by you and will certainly help you in the right

direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. What is the exact error message when you say, ' I tried to change my password and he said: I can't? "
    2. You did it of any significant changes to the computer before this problem?
    3. You are connected to a local user account or an Microsoft account?

It seems that your administrator password is unable to validate Windows Server.

If connected to a Microsoft account, I suggest to reset your account password and try to connect to your computer Windows 8.1 and check if it helps fix the problem.

    Hello

If your account is an administrator account, you can change the password of another user account in the Control Panel/users.  There is also the account by default in safe mode that is not normally protected by except defined by a user.
