I need help to connect my macbook pro to my TV high definition. I just installed the latest update for el capitan, and now all of a sudden not work there.  I use a hdmi cable that has worked for me before.  Any suggestions?

  It seems to be a problem with the hardware. I suggest you try to uninstall and reinstall the CD/DVD driver and check if it helps.

  When you reinstall CS5, you start to 12.0 there's a 12.0.4 update that includes bug fixes.

  You need to directly download this update and before you install, go into osx security & privacy > general tab and temporarily allow app installs anywhere.

  A 2012 MBP has SATA 3 connectivity.

  If you want to install a new HARD drive, the best approach is to clone the new from the old HARD drive.  It will duplicate the original HARD drive which has likely El Capitan installed.  I suggest to use Carbon Copy Cloner to the process.  It is not free, but worth it because you can use it to create a backup disc drag.
