  I need help because I can not remove the BIOS password. I forgot it. I contacted HP Customer Service and received the email from HP that contains the MSC file.

  I took the following measures in the e-mail

  Please follow these steps to clear the BIOS password:

  Save the attached file in this e-mail on USB than SMC. BIN and insert into the system (or save the file to the root of drive d: HP_TOOLS)
  -Press 'Key + arrow UP key + arrow down key Windows' all keys at the same time and turn on the system
  -Release all keys and press F10 at HP logo to go to F10 setup for "Reset BIOS to factory default security"

  Please make sure that the USB is formatted in FAT 32

  Is that what I'm doing wrong. I'm also not sure of the date and time in the BIOS, it is anyway to check it without the password.

  Your laptop is to produce a code hexadecimal halt which is stored in the ram as a 'one stop' and is recalculated after a reboot.  This indicates that you have a FRIEND bios later and unfortunately none of the current code generators will work - surprisingly, you can always remove power on password of the machine by removing the cell RTC (leave the connected Power Board) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds before reinserting the RTC.

  The bad news is that the RTC is on the 'wrong' side of the system board, so it will take a lot of disassembly.

  The only other option would be to Contact HP in this regard.

  I am an unlucky recipient of a laptop with Windows Vista. It came preloaded with Vista... no backup disks or manuals, etc. The restore feature was not turned on, so a restore point has not been set. My WMP will not play wmv or any wmp files. I also have problems with my automatic updates in Windows. I have 10 updates that were not successful, but there are probably pages of the attempts of many times where the updates failed. My Trend Micro Titanium Internet tells me I have a problem in my directory root, which is probably due to an update of Windows that was supposed to protect me from a weakness in Vista, but again once with my updates failed to download successfully, its possible the fix I need is still sitting there... I think it's a shame that MicroSoft is allowed to 'SELL' a product without disk... just a license # and NO manuals. AND not a lot of support for your money... or the other. I spent hours and hours trying to fix myself... using all the resources I can find... look like a dummy, I'm sure, but if I had the software I probably would have deleted from my hard drive and more. It would certainly have saved me MONTHS of frustration. Trend Micro and real human support downloaded the plus version of their software for me and recent, plus a few extras to eradicate certain other pests. To get a human being to help you at MicroSoft? It will be $60, please... Sorry, if I look a little tired, but you guys are supposed to be the best and I feel fuzzy. I have been in sales for a long time. long time AND sold the BEST AMERICAN made cars... CADILLACS, but you know if I take care of my clients after the sale... they would have felt like I do, today... disappointed. If every time they came into the dealership I have loaded the $$ to take care of them, they don't come back to me when the NEW models came out... I made sure they got their cars back washed... and they sent their friends to buy from me. And ILS never thought to buy from anyone else, actually when I left the company, I had a nice little legacy of clients in order to let my protégé.

  I have a laptop ASUS N53SV card Atheros AR9002wb-1ng. Last week, the connection continues being dropped randomly and reset of the card is the only thing that will fix it.

  I already tried things:
  • Change the channel on the router (it goes from 1 to 11, no difference)
  • Disabling the adapter power management settings
  • The reactivation of the adapter power management settings
  • Install a new driver (from what I could find, I could have done this wrong)

  And finally:

  • Uninstall the card completely and restarted my computer, which he has reinstalled everything from scratch.

  It was the last thing I did to try to solve the problem. It worked for about an hour, but now I have a new problem: troubleshooting tool resets over the adapter, then now, I do it manually each time by the Manager of devices of deactivation and activation (which I do every 10 minutes approximately).

  If you can't find the device in the Device Manager (card subnet / other devices / Unknown devices), then yes its seems to be a problem with the network card. & I see that the same is available online for purchase
