I need the exe to find unformatted on the system disks.

I recently installed two big (750 GB) SATA hard drives in our computer, but need help to find the tool that will allow me to find and put these new discs.

The administration in the menu Accessories menu is disabled due to young children using the system, so I'll need full access to the command path.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Hello Eric

The program you are looking for is called diskmgmt.msc. Open a run window (Windows Logo key + R), type diskmgmt.msc and press ENTER.

  • Games like solitaire, free cell, hearts, etc. accidentally has been removed from my computer. When I go into Control Panel, add or remove windows, windows components, I need the floppy disk that I don't have. Any ideas how I can get these games back?

I have windows xp service pack 3 and internet explorer 7

    Hi dollarsfor6,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

In most cases if the games are deleted from the computer files will remain on the computer.

I suggest that you are looking for game files in the system32 folder.

Click on Start menu later click on run and type c:\\windows\system32 in the following search of the window for the file of games like free cell. If you get the files in the system32 folder then copy the file to c:\\program files\start menu\ later in the game folder.

If fails it above step, try a system restore to the point when the game was available on the computer.

  • Move the user off the system disk folders? Envy of all the data on E, so need to move directories user E. not individually, but in the world. If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E.

Got a new laptop with win 7 home premium pre-installed. Using the language of win 7... I have decreased the volume of HDD to 55 GB.  Made new simple volumes. I want all the data personal on E, so need to move user directories to E. No individually change the location tab on dozens of files, but in the world. If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E from the gitgo.

Under XP, I could just change the 'My Documents' link on each desktop, go to the e. * instead of c *. *, but with win7?

As a Windows Home Server and most wise OS facilities, the system drive is isolated and a drive of 2 or 3 for everything else.  Get a problem? Just restore the system drive.

    You need the answer?

    Thank you

PS Microsoft: This backup/do imaging software, why don't we name the image so many can all be stored on easily in one place without having to go and rename it or move them elsewhere?

    Hello TomZork,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

In another forum, I found the instructions to move folders of users to another drive.
You can follow the post here. This is attributed to Jimmie R. Houts.

    Article:
You can move the entire folder C:\Users to another drive quite easily once windows is installed:

    1. Boot from the installation media and access the command prompt (I think you need to click on fix everything first)
    2. Use Robocopy to copy C:\Users to D:\Users: robocopy c:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj
      a. /mir says robocopy to mirror directories, this will copy all files and permissions
      b. /xj is very important, it means robocopy does not follow the points of junction. If you forget this, you will have a lot of trouble.
    3. Make sure that the files copied successfully
    4. Delete c:\Users
    5. Create the junction pointing d:\Users: mklink /d c:\Users d:\Users

That's all. I used this process for Vista RTM with no problems.

Here's an article that explains as well. Just use robocopy instead of xcopy as it does in the article in order to avoid possible ntfs permissions problems.

Update: because I discovered the hard way, I thought I would mention also that if you plan on switching "Program Data", or "Program Files" with this method, you will be disappointed to know that everything works as expected, but the windows updates will install is no longer. I don't know if this problem has been fixed in Win 7.

With the foregoing, it is not a Microsoft forum or Web site so you will have to use at your own risk. I also recommend to do a system restore point before making any changes in directories that you can then go back to a previous state.

Please reply back and let us know if these suggestions help you to solve your problem, then to benefit others.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • Can we move an installed Win7 (ie. Move the system disk) in a new machine?

I have a working Win7 on an old system installation.  The disc is relatively new and would so just pull the disk and move it to a new faster system (with different MoBo, etc.).
When I do that, it begins to start, then (approximately when the colors of the flag should appear in the splash screen), it restarts and then offers a repair screen.  No option of repair to succeed (I tried them all, with DVD, etc.).
How can I "fix" this installation is compatible with the new material?

The problem you have is that your new hardware must start drivers that are not present or disabled.

If you set your SATA and other devices for old ways (or disabled) in the BIOS, you may be able to get the system starts and after a few reboots of the installed device drivers, you need to run the system. It will have to be reactivated if you do and can not work.

If you can get the system up and running you can install the correct chipset and other pilots and drivers enable disabled for example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976

  • How to defragment the system disk?

On my HP Windows 7 computer, the system drive access to the Disk Defragmenter tool showed a growing fragmentation since I bought the computer about 14 months ago. Despite the warning that only discs which can be defragmented appear, the entrance to the system drive refuses to defrag (all other defrag properly). The system drive now shows fragmentation of 26%, so there is obviously files being written and rewritten on this subject. Unless I'm missing something, the reader certainly require defragmentation. But how to do?

    BYL wrote:

    [snip]

I also use Diskeeper 2010 (version Professional first) and it keeps all my system files defragmented - I don't know it would deal with the problems you encounter (you can try a fully functional version for 30 days to see what it will do for you).

It is very reliable and I have never had any problems with it whatsoever (the company has been around for a long time and they have great technical support if necessary).

In my opinion, it's the best defragmentation solution available because it runs in the background (so you can use the computer while it defrags) and it also prevents the fragmentation. I suggest you to get the test and try - you can learn more about it at http://www.diskeeper.com/

There is a free offer here for the full Pro first 2011 version of Diskeeper. [Edit - the last of the free copies are spoken for.]

  • Pavilion Slimline s5510y: network driver, the system disk

One of my friends has a slimline s5510y who can no longer connect to the internet.  She uses a wired connection and the wired connection works with other computers, modem and physical connection is good.  Their system disk has been lost, so they cannot reinstall their Windows 7.  I can get a link to download their network driver (for the download to another computer and then transfer them pilot for the troubled slimline) and then then I get a phone number or a procedure to order a replacement system disk?  Or the other solution would be appreciated and both even more so.  Thank you.

The first pilot did not work, but at this time, I concluded that the system had been ruined by a virus (website technical support who had wanted to make them pay for a solution to a problem that had caused the tech support Web site (I think).  I had via hp forum procedures to perform a recovery through the recovery HD partition.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01867418/

A lot of time, 250 + Windows updates later, but the s5510y is speaking again to the internet and as a new machine.  Only a few tips to moor.  Recorded by the forum and support site.  Appreciate your help and encouragement.

  • How writing protected for the system disk?

    Hello

I wanted to delete some files on the external hard drive. He cannot because of the write protected. So, I had to go to the registry editor. HKeylocalMachine-> system-> CurrentControlSet-> control-> StorageDevicePolicies. That is protected with DataSet '0' means write-enabled. If I change the value "1" is disabled. Having administrator rights, it can activate and disable write protection. But when I allow it, it does not appear the disk write protected when deleting message.

My only concern if someone uses the system, if they accidentally delete the file, it would be a big problem. I ask you please tell me the procedure on how to set writing disc protected by default. Which would be really appreciated if you can tell me the method.

Operating system: - Windows XP MCE - 32-bit

    Thank you very much.

  • I try to remove the system disk error memory dump files clean up, usually around 350 MB but not cleaning cleaning!

How can I get rid of these files? What do I do? seems to be a waste of space if I don't empty them.

    Hi russellinspain,

Run the disk cleanup utility should delete these files. You can remove the files if you want to save space on the hard disk.

Try to delete the files as an administrator. To do this, try the following steps.
    a. Click Start, type disk cleanup, click with the right button on disk cleanup and click Run as administrator.
    b. place a checkmark on "System error memory dump files"
    c. click ok and check if the files are deleted successfully.

  • My MAC continues to need the Setup disk whenever I start Thunderbird.

The installation disc is located on my desktop. If I try to remove it if Thunderbird is open, I get the message that it is in use. If I close Thunderbird and remove the disk installation, and then when I reopen it, I am asked to re - install. Should I just uninstall and reinstall to see if it works better?

OK, I solved it. The image of Thunderbird on the dock had been copied from the installer rather than the apps folder.

  • Need to restore the system disk for Satellite S3000 - X 4

I ve an old Satellite phone, model type S3000 - X 4, but I ve lost its disk factory settings restoration. I ve loaded another version of Windows XP Home edition, I own but he doesn't he know s a laptop more than the custom of the fresh battery and I m constantly plugged in!

I ve updated Toshiba, but it remains straight isn t. Is it possible to get a replacement system restore disc for the this model please?

    Hello

Your ad is quite confused and I do not know is that you have problem with power sypply why you focus on recovery media. If there is a technical problem or if the battery is dead why you think that the recovery CD will help.

In any case, I think you will not have much chance to get a recovery media for this older model laptop. I checked the download from Toshiba site and there are only 9 different drivers and tools that you can install after the installation of Windows XP Home edition.

First try to configure Windows XP Home Edition. Later, we can discuss any problem of battery.
This battery is always the original, I mean one?

Great so what OS is on theat partition? 8.1? I guess that is how

    Second.-

How can I do to burn the recovery system/dvd (s) for Windows 10.

is there a FAQ for this particular situation, or am I in nomans land between hp and MS?

    Help, please.

    You are the very welcome.

From any PC which is come with W8 or newer, there is no more stickers product key.

Which was imposed in another attempt to reduce the illegal use of the product on the other PC OEM keys, which is a violation of the rules on the OEM licenses Microsoft PC manufacturers.

The key that you received from the Belarc Advisor is one who is encrypted in the BIOS, and it is only good for your PC.

The other problem is that the key cannot be used to activate a non - OEM version of W8.1.

For example: you can download and make W8.1 installation of Microsoft support about the same way you just did to W10 installation media.

The difference is the installation of W8.1 media that you downloaded will not work with OEM product key that you received from the Belarc Advisor.

You need an OEM Setup disk to work with OEM product key.

Personally, I think it's terrible, but that's what has Microsoft done.

In other words, if your OEM recovery disks don't work, you are flat out of luck, unless you buy an OEM of Windows 8.1 version.
