  • I'm upgrading of hard disks and need to reinstall my windows 7 Home premium

I'm upgrading of hard disks and need to reinstall my windows 7 Home premium, however the laptop I bought did not include an installation disc, which I was aware of, and now I'm not sure if the recovery disc will do what I need to do, ideas?

You should have the ability to create a recovery disk. Otherwise, you will need to use the following method to move it to a new hard drive:

  • need to re - install windows 7 on the laptop (Dell)

bought a laptop from pc world, need to re - install windows 7 no drive but a product code

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

  • Is there a setting I need to change the windows Defender because my laptop and an iphone4 work together properly on the internet, and they seem to take turns?

I contacted my internet provider several times in recent weeks and they haven't a clue what's wrong, so they want to send a technician for £180, but a friend had the same problem and contacted PCWorld and they said that it is to do with the security setting so he then contacted McAffee and they changed the type of security on the router WPA2-Personal wireless to another and apparently it works fine now so do you think that's what I have to do? Sorry if this is real confusing :) kind regards D

Isn't it clear what your problem is, but if you use McAfee (based on what I read on other forums) you should probably uninstall or disable Windows Defender on your laptop.  Windows Defender and McAfee may not work well together as MSE and McAfee should not be used on the same computer.

Some older portable computers (such as my Dell Inspiron 5100 with XP Pro 2004) does not connect to a WPA-2 wireless router - mine only works with WEP and WPA.  Maybe it's the cause of your problem, but of course if your laptop is new, it should work fine with WPA-2.

Given that your problems are not associated with MSE, why not ask your advice in the Microsoft Windows Forum at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us or on the website of the manufacturer of your router and maybe they can help.

    Good luck...

  • Need to reinstall completely Windows - XP Home Edition due to a virus

I need to completely reinstall Windows XP Home Edition due to a virus, but the virus prevents me from doing this.  Should I start in SafeMode (F8) to reinstall it?

    Hi André,.

Best way to clean install OS is to boot from the windows xp CD. You will need to configure your CMOS to set the boot order to CD/DVD drive as the first drive. While the XP CD in the drive start your pc, press a key when you are prompted "Press any key to boot from the CD-ROM..." Select clean install (you need to press ESC to repair the windows installation ". You will get an option to format the partition, format and install the operating system.

Clean install will ask you to:

    -> Reactivate windows.

-> Install all of the software required.

-> Backup / restore your important data.

    -> All drivers.

BTW, what is the virus, that you are not able to clean... Try to download available from www.download.com free antivrus, update and scan.

You can also run malware-removal tools software (click on start-> Run Type & -> mrt.exe-> ok).

Try to download www.safer-networking.org/ for spyware spybot.

    I hope this helps.

  • I need to reinstall the window?

After several times of applications installed and uninstalled, how can I tell when I have to reinstall window for better performance?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

    Hello oem7110,

Some users swear by re - install the operating system every 12 months, or so, others don't even bother.

I, personally, had a copy of Windows 7 on one of my PC since its launch in October 2009. He has never been called into place.

While the re-install the operating system will give you a performance boost, boost will be there so long. Subsequently, you will find that the PC starts to slow down again. It is a natural progression based on the amount of applications you have on your machine and, also, to the age of the machine and its component materials.

As kd_win7 suggested adding additional memory or installing a better hard drive and graphics card can give you this slight increase in speed that you're after, especially if you use intensive applications in memory such as video editing, etc.

I have already spoken to erase temporary internet files, etc., with you, and you seem to have a pretty good system to do. SE hard drive filled up very quickly with applications? If so, you might want to take a look to reduce the amount of applications you have. After that all the statistics show that only about 10% of the available software installed on a PC is used in fact regularly.

  • Need to reinstall my Windows 8, but the optical drive does not

    Separated from this thread.

Support recovery of Windows 8 for product windows operating system recovery disc Windows 8 pro OEM Activation required 3.0 here in my hands, I have... I can't install them well... My dvd drive does not work with Windows 10.windows 10 sucks... I can't figure out how to take everything here and remove all ten and just replace my 8...

Since you probably need creation for Windows 8.1 installation media on flash stick to do anyway the own 8.1 Windows Installer , you might do as well on the contrary much better Clean install Windows 10 since the installation in the link worked for everyone who tried without a single complaint, overcomes all and every other issue had with 10 Windows and gives the best installation of any Windows OS We can possibly have.

  • Need to reinstall my Windows OEM 8 Core

    Dear support,
I want HP dv6 that comes preinstalled with Windows 8 "Core Edition" OEM. My recovery partition has stopped working, HP Recovery manager is old and does not work for me, and I don't have any DVD recovery with my laptop. When I asked HP they told me recovery disc command (damn...).

I ask Microsoft if I can download windows 8 I bought legally, and I want to activate windows with the license already written the UEFI. Thank you

It is a peer to peer support you have posted in not of Microsoft. That being said, OEM and the version downloaded from Microsoft are not the same and only you can not download and use your key. Your choice is to use the recovery Partition, or get the Sorry HP disks.

Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  • Need of restoration of Windows Vista on Dell laptop

    Hello.

    * original title - restore Windows Vista - I have no installation CD. The installatsion CD only I have is a cd of reinstallation of microsoft windows XP Home Edition SP2.*

Recently, I experienced some problems with Windows Defender.  I tried to do a system restore, but I couldn't go back enough before to the problem.  They then advised me through reading the forums and questioning serveral here my other option was to do a re-installation of complete system for Windows Vista.  I have no problem with that, I don't have a CD for it and no one I know is.  My laptop is a Dell and it received through College I was dating after graduation.   Probably a year ago my hard drive failed.  I had the hard drive replaced and the program that was then installed on my computer Windows Vista (32 bit), which worked well and has been great so far.  The Dell initially had Windows XP home edition SP2 it is and reinstall drive only I.  The disc indicates specifically that it is not for resettlement programs or drivers... If I now can I go back to Windows SP2? I don't know how it works, or what he would do.  Can you please suggest some options? or advice?...

We do not know what disk/license of Vista was used to install Vista on your computer.

Normally, ylou would install XP > then go to Vista.

Read this info on reinstalls Vista and sorting here:

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
