  Hi all

  This is my first post and I welcome any help that can be given.

  I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge laptop running a preinstalled version of Windows 7 Professional and need to format the hard drive before the upgrade to Windows 10 - the disk is VERY slow and may contain viruses, hence the need to put in shape.

  My problem is that I need the Win7Pro ISO for this.

  I contacted Microsoft to get it and they told me that that the OS has been preloaded, I have to contact the manufacturer of the laptop for the ISO.

  I searched the discussions and the knowledge base to find information, but everything I can find points to a third party download which has now been blocked by Microsoft.

  I would be eternaly grateful if someone could point me to a site or a link to the ISO as I go along in circles for days.

  It would be better to contact Support (info below) to discuss. From my experience, they will check your model and serial number to confirm the operating system of the license in the factory.

I'm trying to get an ISO of windows 7.  This has proved to be quite difficult. my attempt to replace my hard drive using the old product key failed because the site does not accept the keys to the pre-installed versions.  If I understand it well in an article I read it says that when I upgraded to win 7 to win 10 product key remained the same. However, when my hard drive has been replaced and windows re-installed 10 this product key has been replaced with a digital license.  I have 3, possibly 4 questions: 1) has my product key now a digital license? 2.) If Yes, this digital license can be used for windows 7 ISO? If Yes, where can I find the digital license? (4.) If none of the above, any suggestions how I can get a copy of windows 7 Iso? I am very frustrated and ideas.

  When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or get a new PC preinstalled with Windows 10, what has happened is that the hardware (your PC) will get a digital right, a unique signature of the computer which is stored on the Microsoft Activation servers. The real Windows 7 or Windows 8 license you were using previously will be exchanged with a key to the diagnosis.

  Whenever you need to reinstall Windows 10 on this machine, go just to reinstall Windows 10. It automatically reactivates.

  Therefore, there is no need to know or get a product key, if you must reinstall Windows 10, you can use your Windows 7 or Windows 8 product key or use the reset function in Windows 10.

  If you are prompted to enter a product key, click on "I don't have a key" and "do it later".

  Even when you switch to Windows 10, you can return to Windows 7 at any time. Get Windows 7 reinstall media will be dependent on certain factors.

  Some people have persevered with contact support via the link on the MS download site and have finally received the download links temporary for an English version.  [You will find these discussions if you looking for the Korean forum as most people in your situation included that word in their title of the question.  I don't remember one of these threads containing any additional info that would be of no use to you.]

  If that does not appeal to you & you still cannot find your original installation disks, then buy a disc-relocation

  1. Amazon now stock reinstallation DVD for just a quid [the link is for their UK site site American stocks also to them].
  2. These seem to be exactly what they claim they do not have a product key and that they are specifically described as being for reassembly only - in other words, they are not an attempt to distribute pirated Windows.
  3. You must use your own product key for activation.
  4. Make sure order you Windows 7 edition {Home Premium etc.} that is identified on your certificate of authenticity [the label that contains your product key].
  5. Some of the sellers provide 32 bit and 64 bit DVD, while others provide one or the other.  So make sure you order the right kind.
  6. These discs can do everything what a system repair disc can do, so you'll not need to make a separately.

  Your computer came with XP? If your computer came with VISTA and was never made for XP, so no XP drivers will be available for the system. I looked at the HP site and could not find XP drivers, which probably means that it is a model of Vista, not XP. If it came with XP then call HP and they will be able to send you a XP disc for a small fee, like $15 or more.
