I need Windows Indexing to run at FULL SPEED

I am running Windows 7 Pro on a new Toshiba Portege Z930. I just transferred all my files and emails to the new laptop and trying to run Windows Search to index everything in the SSD (250 GB). However, I found that Windows Search seems to have very little time CPU, and it indexes point to about 500 items per 10 hours! I have more than 300,000 items to be indexed! I turned off the key an indexer Backoff. I set the priority for SearchIndexer.exe high. Still nothing. It seems that the indexer just continues to go to the 0.03% CPU time. It will take a month at least to complete the indexing! How can I get indexing to run at full speed?

That's what I have (completely uninstall Paperport).

I'm sorry, I don't remember the name of the process, but seek to any process that comes from Nuance.

    Hello!

My iMac 27 "has an intermittent problem with the CPU fan runs at full speed. Sometimes it happens at the time when I start it, sometimes only in my session, and sometimes only after a certain time. So does seem to be a problem of "heating".

But once he starts to go in mode 'sleep', when I wake up, it goes right back in mode after a few seconds and that it will continue indefinitely until I restart the computer.

  • Satellite A300 - fan always runs at full speed after full stop

When I stop the Satellite A300, the fan always runs at full speed.

    Hello

What? Cooling modules run, even in this case, the cell phone is off?
Press the power button for at least 4 seconds, then the laptop must be turned off.
Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery
Wait about an hour and reconnect the battery and AC adapter
Then switch on the device after a certain time of use of turning the unit off and check if the cooling modules would stop too

  • Satellite Pro A120 - fan runs at full speed

I've had my laptop for a few years, and for about a week now when I first turn on the fan runs at full speed. I restart the computer immediately and fun runs normally. I suspect overheating or dust problems since it works at full speed as soon as it is powered but not after a reboot. I left at full speed for a long time to see what is happening - I is not too annoying. I usually restart immediately.

These laptops have the sensors of dew or something? I guess the House is cooler just now.
    Advice anyone?

    Hello

I doubt the s sensor issue or something like that
Cooling modules are controlled by the BIOS. The fan table that contains all the details about the features of the cooling module is stored in the BIOS and I recommend the default BIOS settings first

So, start the laptop, press F2 and access the BIOS.
Press F9 to get the BIOS default settings, and then save the changes and exit the BIOS.
Of course, the cooling modules must be verified if the vents are not blocked
The dust is more a cause of such symptoms
Remove dust using a jet of compressed air can be useful in your situation

  • HP h8-1141 fan runs at full speed all the time

Processor and fun of rear cooling fan runs at full speed on Pavilion h8-1141

    Solution:

I cleaned the inside of the computer and all the fans. It was very dusty.

Then I pressed my finger on all the cards on the motherboard to make sure they don't lose. As for the fans, I took out and put them back in.

Now it's working. The fans are back to normal.

  • Case fan runs at full speed

I accidentally shorted the circuit case fan on my motherboard HP (explanation below), and now the fan runs at full speed all the time. Apart from the fact that it was a stupid thing to do, it will be a long term problem and should I try to reset the fan speed switch?

(Long version) It's hot here these days and my computer fans seemed underpowered. I put a splitter at the exit of the case on the motherboard fan and added a second fan in addition to the original fan. All it worked well except the new fan seems to run pretty slow. I wanted to get a voltage reading card fan, but I accidentally hit the two sensors on my voltmeter and the computer shuts down immediately. He has started up and worked well, except that the throttle was no longer working and the fans were running at full speed. This also explains why the second fan turned slowly before when they were both being strangled.

I guess that in the end I got my wish to have my fans running at full power, I just wanted to see if there are future problems leaving this way.

    Hello design_guy,

You should not have problems with the fan rotating at high speed, with the exception that you can reduce the life cycle of the fan.

You can install software on the computer that will allow you to adjust the speed of the fan to the computer which may help you extend the life of the fans and give you a bit of control over them.

Something like SpeedFan should do the trick.

  • ACPI fan constantly runs at full speed on Toshiba Satellite L505

    Hello world!
I recently bought a new laptop (Toshiba L505)... everything works fine except the fan under Linux. It works constantly to max speed and I must say it's quite annoying. I know it is better to have a fan that runs continuously rather than one that is not light up at all, but I really want it to solve...
See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+bug/321578 for more information on this bug...
I think that it is related to ACPI but I tried everything almos (acpi_osi change, acpi = force and other hack kernel). But whatever the OSs I throw (except Windows 7), it is always at full speed (I tried the Chakra (Archlinux), Ubuntu, and PC - BSD). With Ubuntu, I tried the last kernel 2.6.32rc7...

    Thanks ;)

    Hi sunrider.

to understand why your machine is constantly cooling at high speed, go deep into the linux stuff...

    * but you can try "acpi = off" * instead of 'force' to give the os the ability to manage the material at the level of the api...
Maybe there is an updated driver/module implemented who knows your chipset...

If you "force" the kernel to manage equipment of this 'acpi' way and no module is there to do the work... you see it is a bad thing...

or you are a geek and program a module that manages your chipset to acpi... If yes pls share it with the community...
of course I'm kidding, writing of modules is not for me...

  • Processor and fun of rear cooling fan runs at full speed on Pavilion HPE h8-1120it

Hello, since yesterday when I turned on my HPE h8-1120it HP Pavilion the CPU fan and rear fun cooling are always rotating at high speed, and they never stop. I have nothing no hardware changes, no change in software. Two days I will I work all day without problem, I turn off as usual the PC, I'm going to bed and then yesterday morning I turned on and now I have this problem. The PC is brand new (I bougth it about 1 month ago). There is no problem of temperature (now I 19 ° C on my computer room).

Read another similar post I figured might be a bios problem. The version of the bios is 7.11, I tried to see if there is an update of canno't ' t there, but I find an update of the bios for Pavilion HPE h8-1120it.

I burned a CD with the hardware HP Vision Diagnostic and I run the pleasure of tests and they all passes. During these tests, the pleasure seem to achieve the right speed in the progress of the test.

I noticed this strange thing: when I bought the PC I immediately activated in the bios the use of VT to use hardeware virtualization with VMWare player. Yesterday, I found this setting changed and disabled and it's very strange because I did not change the values in the bios.

What can I do? The noise of the fans at full speed is impressive, that I can't work on these conditions!

    Thank you

    Davide Angeli

    Hello

There are not many fans rated at 4 000 rpm. With this type of fan RPM coupled with your observation that VT missing then your PC seems to have a problem.

Maybe it's time to contact the HP Support.

HP support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.

  • Dell PowerEdge Fans always runs in full speed

    Hello

I have a problem with a Dell Poweredge 2900 server witht. The server is still running the fans at full speed.

I tried to update the latest version of the bios and the firmware for environmentally sound management, but the problem is not resolved.

Dell OpenManage shows only a single error, said of the intrusion into the chassis, casing is open, but case is closed properly. I think that the sensor is bad, I try to look for the switch, but I can't.

Please let me know where is the switch of intrusion of the chassis on this server, or how to disable.

    Thank you

As suggested by Theflash1932, the intrusion switch may be damaged and located on the Bay of housing Center fan. It cannot be replaced as one of its components. See the image below.

It is replaceable like a Bay of housing of Dell part number: NF078

  • R720xd Fans incredibly strong, running at full speed

My R720xd runs all fans of Board of Directors full speed continuous system.

On switching on, fans at high speed for a second bump, then settle at reasonable speed and stay at reasonable speed during POST, up to the point where the iDRAC initializes, how they all kick at full speed and stay there. From there, the fans are going full speed. Nothing less than a reboot or shutdown will stop them.

I am not exaggerating even slightly. Fans run to 17 000 rpm, 24 hours a day. It's so loud that you can hear it through the walls across the building.

It has no operating system installed on this machine.

I've upgraded to the latest firmware, tried to change the profile of performance in bios and tried the whole hold the power all unplugged thing so button.

There is no possibility that it is overheating. Intake air temperature is 22 degrees, exhaust is 27, time CPU are 35-40 degrees.

I found other references to people with similar problems with R720s, but it doesn't seem to be any single common cause for it.

    Any suggestions?

I just followed on the resolution of this problem. The configuration of firmware and hardware were very good, the problem ended up being a faulty motherboard.

Dell sent a technician to replace the motherboard, and once this is done, the fans were running normally. Technology said he is seen several times, and the replacement of the motherboard is the fix.

I hope it helps someone else.

Thanks to Chris and other people at Dell for working through this.

  • Portege R500 - the fan runs at full speed during the recovery from sleep mode

    Hello

The fan in my R500 works at full speed when he was in the system sleep.
The only thing that helps is a reboot. :-/

Is there a solution to this problem?

    Hello Allan

I really wonder that you define this as a problem. From my point of view the problem is something else. You have a problem when you cannot boot up your laptop. You have a problem if you are unable to use certain features or if you can not open the DVD player. It is a problem.

Back to your problem: have you tried to change the power settings, to change the method of cooling in the Toshiba power settings? Play a little with it. I optimized the use of my wholesale Satellite P200 and the fan operates at low speed. OK it is not the best example to compare the two models of laptops, but try it.

  • Satellite L10-117: the fan stops and only run at full speed

I L10 - 117 with celeron M 370, my fan works for about 2 minutes and stop after only 2-5 minutes, it starts again at full speed. It only works at full speed (made a lot of noise) or stop, I noticed that my friends toshiba satellite fan (also celeronM) works at different speeds, such as laptops with centrino.

There's this problem with my laptop, or maybe it's normall for celeron M370. Is there a software for satellite power with celeronM management?

    Darek

    Hi Darek

Number of units of Toshiba have preinstalled Toshiba intelligence tool and it is possible to make different settings for the activity of the CPU and cooling method as well. Unfortunately, your device is preinstalled without this designed Toshiba utility.

Computer Satellite phone has your friend?
Check to see if he can change the parameters of cooling energy saving method.

  • [Aspire V3 - 771G] Fan runs at full speed without reason

Hello world! I come here after some time to research how to fix this weird problem.

The fact is: at the time I push the power button on my Acer Aspire V3 - 771 G, starts the fan rotating at high speed, making a horrible noise.

I have this laptop for 3 years now and this problem is only 5 days ago.

I did nothing to do except clean the fan with a compressor of air (by ventilation, without desasembling the pc).

    I've tried several things:

-First of all, by using SpeedFan to monitor the single my laptop fan (useless because SpeedFan does not reconigze the fan)

-Control of the overheating (at least none in the task of program manager used a lot of CPU, and all temperatures are correct, between 40 and 50 degrees idle, screenshot: http://www.noelshack.com/2016-18-1462730392-capturegbfg.png )

-Then, after reading a few posts, remove the battery (nothing happens)

-Then, I check the BIOS for any < fan="" setting=""> > (there's nothing like this in the BIOS Acer (the most recent version for my laptop)

-Finally, I tried you use software such as NotebookFanControl or ACFanControl (nothing too, he just tell me that the fan is running at 164%, crazy?)

So after all these things, I'm fed up and my laptop computer fan just keep running like a beast. It is a very big problem for me because I'm audio recording and this sound quite kidding with my voice on the record. And now, I can't change my laptop, for a few reasons.

So I'm begging for your help, I except someone could help me with this.
