I opened Firefox and all my favorites have disappeared. I went to the restaurant with a back-up and it is also not available.
Other options?
One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

As soon as I opened the Firefox Start Page, all my favorites have been posted on the left side. I accidentally hit something, and now all my favorites have disappeared.
For your safety, you must do a lot of software updates. You may be holding back for some reason any. Let us know what it is because there may be a fix or workaround now.
To update to the 19 of Firefox, you can use the "Check for updates" button here:
Menu help > about Firefox
To update your Adobe PDF and Shockwave Flash plugins and check for other obsolete plugins, you can use this page:

I know it's tedious, but don't let slip too long or you might get up to have to rebuild everything (the curse of your lack of backups, and if you do regular backups).

I installed Firefox 4.0 and all my favorites were there, so I uninstalled 3.6, reopened 4.0 and all my favorites have disappeared.
This has happened
Just once or twice
Is today
Sorry, it seems that you have selected the option to remove my Firefox personal data and customizations when you uninstalled Firefox 3.6. This option removes all the personal data for all versions of Firefox you have installed.
Any chance that you made a backup of these data?

It took a while for firefox on startup when I clicked on the icon and then there was a message from mozilla/firefox suggest I have reset firefox and all my bookmarks, cookies, etc. would be saved. After the reset, I don't have 1 bookmark. So far, the only thing this computer recognize now is my sign-on so that I can ask this question.
Never mind. It must have just taken some time because now they are all here (weird because it took about 45 min.) Please skip this question.

Hello:
I upgraded to 37.0.2 today. Fx reboot, I can't see any bookmarks. NO what so ever.
My bookmarks bar was full.So I open the bookmarks in the menu bar top (view all bookmarks] and none show there either.)
The bar watch bookmarks but not favourites. everything gone? Please see screenshot
Thank you scribe_UK
(1) I did as you suggested:
First of all open the bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore and see if you have a backup there.(2) all the backups of my favorites are there. My Favorites get saved at shutdown fx, which i usually do daily or every 2 days. Then I copied the latest file on my hard drive. Then I restored it. Just in case something goes wrong.
(3) it is the good news. The bad news
> restoring crashed 3 times before it completely restored. When I say crashed... started giving errors js... so I waited and let the script raather than to stop it. After about an hour and a bit it finally done.
> all bookmarks lost all their icons. So I loaded the fav icon reloader Add on. And it was refreshing icons. A took about 2 hours to refresh.so I'm now sorted from the point of view of bookmarks. But the upgrade to Fx always makes me nervous when things like this happen. Not pretty.
Secondly, since the upgrade, Fx went back slow slow speed that it worked before as I have created a new installation new Yosemite as 5 cool months and there's profile. If something tells me the upgrade of fx is only as a last resort. Like I slow FX now, unless I want to spend even more time, you re-create the Fx profile.
Thanks for your help.

I've just updated to Firefox 13.0 (I use a MacBook OSX 10.5.8 running). She started very well, but my favorites are now gone. When I opened the menu bookmark is completely empty - as if I just started to use Firefox for the first time. Is there anyway to get back them? Or find a backup on my computer somewhere? (The last time that I exported backup was probably 6 months ago). Thank you!
Hi elyyong,
These items, please visit: recover lost or missing Favorites, restore backup bookmarks or move them to another computer.
I think that the restoration in the 2nd article section will be most useful.
After back if not.

You're just past my firefox at 18.2, all my favorites have been removed, why
At about 9:00 pm EST Firefox worked normally on my pc.
At about 11: 30 a.m. et, I opened Firefox and got a Mozilla screen that says that the program has been changed.
Now all my favorites have disappeared.
Why
Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly or lose bookmarks can be caused by a corrupted database places.sqlite file.
You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

I use firefox 16 on windows 7 with Xmarks and now all of my favorites have disappeared.
I recently started using Xmarks with Firefox 16 on Windows 7 platform. I got some kind of error message (I think only of Xmarks) about "bookmarks". I clicked on the message to solve the problem and zapp all my favorites have disappeared. I found my profile "bookmarksbackup" file but can not open it. I guess I need a JSON Viewer. I downloaded an opensource Viewer that looked good, but still not get anything that looks remotely to my old favorites. I thought I might be the victim of a virus, but I'm probably just the victim of my ignorance.
In addition, if the bookmarksbackup files folder it contains, you can try to restore one of it via Firefox Bookmarks (Alt + B) > show all bookmarks > import and backup. See also this.
Alternatively, you can also check your account of Xmarks for bookmarks. If it had been transferred successfully in the past, you can install Xmarks, connect to Xmarks Firefox, and then download the backup.

I went through my computer to clear the history, what I have done before and ALL my favorites have disappeared. I can't seem to find anyway and I want to know if/how to get back them.
What method did you use to remove your browsing history?
Firefox instant guard of your bookmarks over time so that you can restore to an earlier date. You can try the procedure of recovery described in this article and see if Firefox lists all earlier dates you can choose: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer.
Are they available?

I opened Firefox and my favorites are gone from the bookmarks bar and now he broke down 4 times and froze twice upwards.
cookmartyn3,
Sorry, you have problems with Firefox and your bookmarks.
I can assure you that Firefox is not supposed to lose bookmarks when it updates. I can also say with confidence that most of the users do not lose bookmarks in Firefox updates. I certainly have not.

For some reason, thunderbird (windows 8) essentially has stopped working. More than one minute to open an email - all other functions have similar delays. I tried to archive, but I get a message that says that a script has stopped working. He does the same in thunderbird safe mode. My old computer (XP) works very well. I can't find my profiles on windows 8 to rebuild the database world.
Follow-up: McAfee was the problem. I contacted them via chat. Remotely, they took control of my computer and changed the settings. TBird works fine now.
Thank you for all your help.
