I put a new hard drive in my laptop and when I installed Windows Vista I get this message: "windows cannot configure windows to run on this hardware of computers."

I put a new hard drive in my laptop and when I install Vista I get this message: "windows cannot configure windows to run on this hardware of computers."  I can't install an oem on a new hard drive version?  This is the portable original in all other respects.

original title: new hard drive and vista

Hello

strange that you can request that

HP computers have been known to not let you install Vista on a non HP bought replacement hard drive

There were a few posters with this problem here

If the OEM disc for this particular laptop, you should be able to reinstall it as many times as you want as long as you have not changed the main material (the motherboard)

You can change the hard drives, RAM, etc.

I presume that you boot from the Vista DVD

I have a laptop ASUS K55A comes with Win 7 64 bit installed - sticker of license on the bottom of the laptop.  I had problems with the laptop and took it to a repair place and they say that my motherboard is dead and must be replaced at a very heavy cost.  I found more than one K55A on ebay but without OS and at a price lower than the cost of replacing the motherboard and they come with a 90 day warrant.  So my question is can I trade identical but used my old laptop to laptop hard drive and got it working and windows be OK? I know that win10 will soon be available and shall be deemed to be free for users of win7 and I won't be able to upgrade. Thank you

Yes, you can. If the replacement of K55A has a COA sticker, you can use the product key to update license information.

  • Pavilion a1710n impossible to enter the BIOS from the put in new hard drive

I have a HP Pavilion a1710n desktop initially under Vista Home Premium.  Problem is hard disk came out, I then replaced with a hard drive Western Digital SATA of similar type.  However, now I am unable to enter BIOS using F10 or Escape or by pressing the F1 key turning on the PC.  When I tried to put Vista on the PC, it stopped and gave me an error 0 x 80070002; Lack of D:\Sources\Installation, which I do not know what it means exactly or how to fix it.  I had already updated the Vista Home Premium to Win7 Pro.  Given that the disc is a disc update of Win7, guess I'll have to reinstall Vista first and then update again to Win7 Pro?  At the moment everything I have on the PC is the new hard drive without any Windows operating system and my PC doesn't seem to be reading the new hard drive, I think, and in the Start Menu, it is shown as 3rd master drive and DVD is 2nd Master.  So what happened the 1st master?  No what should be my new hard drive?  I'm always so frustrated and of course, my PC is long out of warranty, although I tried calling support without much help I'm afraid.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello again patticat22,

Thank you for responding to my message. If I understand your reference Bravo you check to see if you can find a solution? If and it would be better to search for accepted Solutions because they are used to indicate that a solution has been found, where a Bravo must indicate appreciate for a position.

As for your question, I think it could be a drive for the failure of the installation that you have and recommend you order another set. I'm you provide a link to the HP Support document: looking for HP recovery discs or a USB HP recovery disk?, which has all the necessary steps to guide you through the ordering a new set of recovery disks. There may be a fee for ordering them, but I think this will solve your problem and get your computer back operational.

So you can try to use the HP support document: removing and replacing the CMOS battery, that you want to remove the battery (keep out 24 hours before putting it again) and put it back. This should clear your BIOS and reset back to factory. If the BIOS is still inaccessible after that, I think it would be best if you contacted technical support HP for repair options.

Please re-post though I have well understood you or if you need additional support. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great weekend!

  • I just put in a new hard drive in my computer and now my sd card reader slot does not work. How can I get my computer to read the SD card?

    Computer crashed

New hard drive in my HP laptop

Computer is not reading my SD card

    Hello

Make sure the SD card works on other computers.

The card reader is a USB device to ensure that other USB devices work.

Check with HP, their drivers support and documentation online and ask in the forums of HP where it
others will be with the same or similar model. I hope this is just the driver. It is possible that the device has been
back not connected properly or even damaged when installing the new hard drive.

  • Quality/compatibility of the new hard drive for my laptop

I have a toshiba satellite A105-S2194. I went online to get a replacement from the hard drive. The guy who I spoke to suggested that I get the data of 1 TB 2.5 5400 RPM. I asked if this was no exaggeration for my computer and if she would work with her. He assured me he would. I have windows 7 to load on this subject. My question is. It is true that he did and work in my laptop? It is with Fed - ex delivery and need to know whether to install or send back

The SATA standard is so clearly defined that virtually any disk 2.5 "will work on a laptop. High speed drives (7200 RPM +) could draw in theory more current that might have been specified, even if the newer readers are more effective. With regard to the compatibility of the BIOS limitation of size should not enter up to 2 TB

Even if the laptop is quite old it supports disks more large, Toshiba lists only readers that they mounted but Crucial list upgrades up to 1 TB.

  • New hard drive in the PC and now can not see child PC in the Family Safety website

Recently, we had to install a new hard drive in my son's PC.  I can confirm Family Safety is on his account, to block Web sites are blocked, delays are granted, and there is curfew in place.

But when I connect to https://familysafety.microsoft.com I see my account on the PC, but I can't see me son under kids account.  I followed all the links, help is here.  I deleted and then re-created his account, the computer is approved, and I can see Family Safety is on his account, but I still don't see the PC as part of the children's section of https://familysafety.microsoft.com.

    Rohit:

The wiki article was not a solution - but thank you.

The problem is finally resolved when I could access MS FS through the settings on the PC.  It has a link to MS FS in settings FS (user) who has been for several weeks.  This must have been on the side of Microsoft since after accessing this link work then all the features of the FS.

  • Replacing HP Pavilion-e070sl hard drive with an ssd, how to re - install windows 8 64?

    Hello

I recently buyed a Hp Pavilion-e070sl delivered pre-installed with W 8 64 and I need to know how the name of God how can I reinstall the operating system, since there was no installation dvd disc in the box? Or better (if we exclude the recovery manager and windows recovery disk), if somehow the hard drive does not work and I can't revive the laptop only by replacing one damaged by a new, how do I re - install the OS? And no, I want to order and pay twice.

    Any idea will be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

    You are the very welcome.

Try to do the recovery with your old hard drive first media and see if it would work.

If this isn't the case, then I guess you have nothing to lose to see if the English version of the W8 will be install and activate it, but I don't know if you can change the language.

    If you can, great.

  • I have a G4 laptop.  I put a new hard drive in it?

I have a G4 laptop in very good condition, but there is very little space on the hard disk.  Can I put a new one in it?

Yes, although the effort can be called "Difficult" due to other elements

in the path before the actual task is completed. Not only the wires or cables.

the screws are different lengths and must therefore be ordered so that you can

keep track of their investment for better.

Replacement of the disks hard ATA/IDE rotation is more difficult to obtain, and

a better alternative is a product available (example) OWC

It is a Solid State Drive. Faster, the performance of the system greatly improve

and consumes less energy. An example of 60 GB is here for ATA; they have other:

is a rotating disk hard of 60Go, much less expensive. does not improve

performance, as does an SSD, especially if you are using Leopard 10.5.8.

  • Restore Vista Premum (32-bit edition) for the new hard drive from the laptop when original disks are lost?

    Hello

I'm trying to upgrade from my son's laptop computer and want to replace the current drive with a much larger.

It is running Vista Home premium Edition (32 bit) and he lost his records came with the laptop: I can do?  I bought Windows 7 Upgrade and a disk hard sata 500 GB, but I need to get Vista on the new drive before Windows 7 readers.

I backed up the data using Windows Easy Transfer for issue restores the operating system.

Please note that this is a laptop, I can only have a hard drive up both and I don't know how to get the operating system to the new blank disc? I can create a recovery on a DVD disc / C or something Vista or a 3rd party utility?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Contact the manufacturer to see if you have a recovery Partition and if it can create recovery discs.  If so, create the recovery disks and you will be able to use them to restore the system to factory conditions once you have installed the new drive (but you may need to install the new Vista compatible drivers for the new drive as the recovery disks can have only those for the old disk).  Otherwise, contact the manufacturer and get a set of recovery (at a modest price) discs and use them to restore the system to the conditions of the plant on the new drive.  When we talk to them, confirm that their recovery process allows you to install new drivers for the new drive hard during the process and exactly how do (or it doesn't work - so be sure to check it out).  We cannot help you with recovery of the manufacturer process as it their not Microsoft.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
