I put a password in order to log-in to my computer but I forgot and couldn't open at most, how can I recover my password

How to retrieve a password that I remembered not just for log-in to my computer.   I tried to click on reset password, but it says I have to use the reset disk of password that I have to go to start then click on Control Panel and user accounts.   But how could I do that when I could not access my computer because I needed the password first before that I could go to the Start Menu.
