I ran the Windows memory diagnostic tool, he keeps repeating and will not be finished, finally Boot Manager Windows appears with the error code: 0xc000000d.

I ran the windows memory diagnostic tool on my PC toshiba laptop equium, it restarts priming for display and then directly into the RAM test...
Unfortunately, it will not end and keeps repeating and finally if leave to work for a few hours the Windows Boot Manager comes in and stops the RAM test while noting an error 0xc000000d code. I REALLY can't reformat what I have given crucial for the thesis of the University and I only have the Vista installation disc not repair...
This RAM test shows whenever I start the PC, how can I forget that he spent his RAM test a pc and more? I'm so confused!

Any ideas on how may get a repair disk or fix it otherwise? Thank you very much

Run Memtest86 +: your computer passes this test?

Memtest86 + is running from a floppy or CD and should eliminate or confirm if your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.

Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), if no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

If safe mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

So my friend gave me his computer dell laptop. The thing would boot normally for a few days until he would give me a blue screen of death with the "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" message constantly to not even upward. I ran the diagnostics and got the error code 2000-0146. What I've read, this code error means that the HARD drive is bad and must be replaced. So, to make sure that it's the hard drive, tried to boot from an old hard drive, I got around the installation by USB and windows gave me the same stop error message. May - so that means it's a motherboard problem?

No, it isn't - unless the operating system was installed on this drive AND the system in question, that it won't work as a bootable drive.

Unplug the system, remove or disconnect the battery and hold the power for 30 seconds approximately.  Turn on and re-run the diagnostic tests - if the same error appears again, the drive is bad.  Replace it.

    PROBLEM SOLVED

    Friday, January 14, 2011

I have a solution. He was in two parts: firstly, PA bear in its list of the 6 stages has allowed for me to make the Windows XP security update that was my initial problem. However, then I was unable to update Microsoft Security Essentials was so without virus protection. Finally, I called the phone number of support for the product and was helped by a great person.

The problem was that my system clock changed the date a week in the future. He also suggested that there are probably a variety of different dates used by other applications. In Safe Mode, it updated my system time and date, and all problems are gone.

For those who have similar problems, the clue in MSE was a difference in dates between when the definitions have been downloaded, and when they were loaded. I suspect that the dates were important for download that prompted my initial request for help on this forum, and I know another website with which I had trouble's timestamp.

Thanks to all who helped and good luck to those who have a similar problem!

Before Kaspersky, I had on Windows Live safety - do not remember the name right but had for several years until it was discontinued by Microsoft. I didn't run the Norton removal tool before installing Kaspersky.

Preliminary stage: Please uninstall Spybot & Ad - Aware, at least for now. Two of them include "real-time system protections" that could play a role here.

Tip: If you don't fully understand what that Tea Timer (Spybot) & (Ad-Aware) Ad-Watch do and how they do it, one of them only enable if you decide to reinstall the applications when we're done here. [IMHO, you need not other antispyware applications if MSE is installed & working properly.]

    ACTIONS:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

1B. download Windows Live OneCare cleanup utility, save it to your desktop: http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/c/b/4cb845e7-1076-437b-852a-7842a8ab13c8/OneCareCleanUp.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. double-click on the file that you saved in # 1 a above, to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    3. double-click the file that you saved in # 1 b above to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then reboot again.

    4. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    5. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run that set it by DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    6. restart a last time & test. Make absolutely certain that you can manually update MSE successfully!

Comment: If MBAM detected & removed '5 Trojan infection', there is a good chance that the computer is already infected when you installed MSE a month ago!

  • Vista - Windows Update fails and defender gives the error code: 0 x 80080005

Well, I downloaded Veoh Web Player and DivX player (with a driver package) almost the exact same time, so I don't know who caused the problem. (Guessing Veoh done.) I restored system which usually solves it for me and then uninstalled both programs and even if my computer is not nearly as slow as it was when they were both installed, it's always problems. Windows open frequently stops responding. As I said, the system restore only makes it better for a short time while longer I go without eating, the freezier my computer becomes. I also noticed that for about 2-3 days (after which my computer almost completely freezes and I have to startup repair) most minor cosmetic changes.

I use Firefox, so the first change I noticed was that left side of the address bar in a small half circle in a regular square. Tiny. Then the scroll bars on all the programs I've used lost their Aero look and returned to normal, old style Windows. Eventually good menus click lose their new look, then all the start menu, and finally Windows Explorer stops working and all the windows, when not in use, become small tabs at the bottom of the screen. After that the computer hangs almost entirely.

Each time I restart or system restore the first thing I see is a little box that says that a Windows host process has stopped working. Windows Update continually fails and Windows Defender gives the error code 0 x 80080005. What can I do? I looked for answers before coming here to help and what I read it looks like a downloaded driver can interfere with the host process, even if I uninstalled it (supposedly) all. Thank you.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.
