Hey! I received a call from someone that they are of the Microsoft Security Department. They told me to visit www.microsoftantiscam.webs.com/support and download a program called Ammyy admin. Is it legitimate or not? They told me that they were legitimate, showing me that they knew my computer number or something.

If you have given them access to your PC and then what you do will depend on the type of information you store on it, and how to use it. Personally, I would, at a minimum:
· Change all passwords that may have been compromised. Doing this on another PC you can
have been infected and send the new password to scammers.
· Make a clean (including a format) install of Windows or restore the factory State. You will lose all
data, so back to a separate drive. If you do not feel confident to do this to go
professional/expert help.
· Check the above return for viruses using at least two independent analysers of up-to-date antivirus.
· Tell your bank, credit card companies, etc., what happened.
· Watch for suspicious charges/payments on your credit cards and lodging.
· Watch your e-mail accounts for any suspicious activity.
· Consider to tell the local police / authorities.

Receive phone calls from Microsoft Technical Support. Is it a scam?
I continue to receive phone calls, saying they are Microsoft technical support they said that I have problems with my computer and press the windows button and r to pick up errors in the event they then gave me a code to seek this place which grew up mistakes they said then that they would pass me to a technician who would delete these for me and to speed up my compy before it crashed .i their said that I was on my way while they ring back later I'm good at persuming this is a scam and could they have already gotten access to my computer
If the scammers already accessed your computer depends on if you gave them access to your computer.

Received a call from Microsoft
Hello, my friend had a problem with windows and sent in an error report, the following day, someone called to say they were Microsoft and if he allowed them to power its computer they would fix the problem. Not being sure that he said he had to get out and then he received this email and another phone call saying that they could sort, can someone please advise.

The email is of LivePerson, as indicated in the email, it is not Microsoft - Microsoft does not use the service.
Microsoft will use only Microsoft Easy Assist to connect remotely, if ever invited to use other tools to a website non-Microsoft.com, this should raise flags.
If your friend has sent the error report that you get after a program plant, be aware that Microsoft will not contact you about the presentation.
If your friend has sent in a report about a problem on a Microsoft Web site and explicitly gave their details to be contacted by Microsoft, then they should be contacted by phone or email.

today I received a call from 001-256781425 a guy asking to come from a Microsoft technical service (New York accent?)
I hung up.
The call came through on my landline in the Netherlands Europe about ten minutes from there. 1.35 local time.

Scam artist or try to con money for 'repairs' remote - exposing your computer to all kinds of possibilities of hacking-, or phishing for personal details.
Threaten them with the FBI if they try again.

I received several calls from a person alleging to be from microsoft saying: they received the information from my computer on which it runs slowly and to turn on my computer so that they can do the steps to put it right, I did not what I was skeptical, but he was insistent that I turn on my computer (Incidentally it was already running) I refused this and he said I should do what he says. I put the phone down, but it rang again and insistent, he rang the Bell and then twice that I ignored it. However, he then rang again later andmy husband responded, he said himwe do not need its services because it was thought not good, as I already told you this gentleman I was under the impression that it was not kosher, insisted that it was. So what is happening here. I'm not what anyone on the screen. Also when he got my phone rings me and someone from microsoft would be ringing me, as I have him suggest that I wouldn't do anything on my computer but it would write with information on.thank you for your help

Received a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, it is a call or a scam?

I live in Switzerland, but am British and a mac user (no groans please) although I Mac office installed.
In any case, tonight I received a call from an Asian woman of this phone number 00441865600154, the 1st time, I pressed the wrong button and cut them but they were recalled to work and she said she was from MS and my computer downloaded hacking software and had it flashed an alert at Microsoft. The line was very very bad and I've been cut called the number back and I just domestic type normal BT mail voice... scam or real?
MS have the ability to track these things, and how they know my phone number to the House Switzerland?
I am a little freaked by the present, any help would be greatly appreciated.
It is a scam, Microsoft does not call for end-users, because I don't think that they follow everyone. All calls more like this contempt please and offer the information for them. Total scam.
They probably bought a list of phone numbers from somewhere or they get telephone directories in Europe. Not too sure about all other methods. That would be my guess.

07/06/2011 I got a call from someone sounding forign claiming that he was from Microsoft and I had problems [virus]? with my computer, I know not how he got my phone number, I'm very careful with security on the computer, he asked if I was on the count at the moment and I replied that I was not asked if he asked me to open it then that I was in shock to receive such a call I did he asked me to go in on the computer to run a type in... so I did and it asked me to tell him what he read, I read it all to him and he said yes there is that your problem is He didrected me to his site [which turned out be on EBay] and told me that he could fix all my problems, I just had to choose options and we could start and that he guaranteed guaranteed for life , which cost $410.00, I always has been a bit shocked I did he did OK among "technicians", which I did it installed a few programs, of which one has since fallen by report so I received another call from him, but this time I realized that I had been scamed I googled his company, no DIACRITIQUE I googlled a few other things and learned that Microsoft make phone calls to people , so I hung up on him and I deleted from his programs, his name is Junaid Ali with an e-mail address of * address email is removed from the privacy *. I understand that I can write about what I bought, but do you be able to follow him and help others to be taken for a ride

Received a call from someone who said that they were calling on behalf of Microsoft operating systems
I received a call from someone who said they were working on behalf of Microsoft operating systems, they told me they had my error reports and that the operating system is currently infected. I needed to put an address to go to the technical support they could fix my computer. After saying the first man, I didn't know who he was, or why he was called, he put his superior, she continued to soft sell and finally after their phone numbers: 1-88-408-4118 bearing the name of John Clark, ext. 105. They said they were working out of THE Cal. and gave another number which seems to me to be false. I finally told them I do not trust them and would give no information, they were trying to make me give them access to my computer. Latest phone # was 760-269-3834.
They told me that my computer would crash, I needed this update, when I asked that if a cost is associated with she said yes 99.00 a year. I told him I have to reconfigure my hard drive with the disk that I had if that is needed. Please tell me that's not microsoft do bussiness in this way.

Received a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft Support
Like many others, I received a call from a man who claims he was Microsoft, telling me that my computer was being hacked. I started to see through his bull quickly while I was talking to him, and after research I found confirmation that he indeed was a scam. However after reading the responses I am worrying whether or not I gave him access to my computer. As I was talking to him, I had on my computer, not to do what he told me or visit the page he was trying to direct me, but looking at the probability of this being a scam. My question is to get online while we were connected to the phone I made my system vulnerable? We have DSL and I was wondering if they already have my phone number could they hack into my computer or follow my ISP just connected. I think I'm fine, but now I'm getting paranoid who were able to carve in. It may just be a case of hypochondria computer. Any idea is appreciated. Thank you!

Received a call from above 9, not 10, phone digits # this morning. The strongly accented guys calling claims that Microsoft and that Microsoft has received messages from my computer stating that I have unnecessary and malicious 'elements' on my computer that are erase all my data. When I asked him to give me a number of good reminder, he informed me that I could not directly contact Microsoft about this problem. I hung up. Then I did some research and it seems that a lot more people there receive the same call.
