I reinstalled Firefox, why I get thousands of ads?
I had to do a system restore on my PC, after that, my Firefox started spoil, my homepage has changed by itself, and I started to receive ads everywhere. I did all the checks for malware, virus check etc and cleaned the PC. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Everything works well, but I'm the ads all over the place, pop ups, ads on caterpillars, all kinds of advertising, pages popping up telling me to download the latest video player or download manager. How can I get rid of this?
The sounds that you still have some malware installed.
Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

I started making all kinds of popups wgich seem to A.adsmktng com. I did a boot scan with Avast who can't find any puppies, but was still. Ran A search for the string "A.adsmkt", which turned out in firefox.exe. I refreshed Firefox - the chain was still, but in the OLD FIREFOX/firefox.exe and 3 other files in OLD FIREFOX / but still had. Since I have IE8, but never use it, I uninstalled and then reinstalled Firefox (disturbing thing is that Bookmatks remained). Ran to new firefox and its still there - I typed the address rather than using bookmarks which Im very suspiciouis, because I expected to be deleted during uninstallation.
If I run IE8 I have no problem and have actually visited a few sites that have pop ups if I leave here with Firefox but with IE8, I get a page "clean." The problem is in Firefox, so how do I get rid of this coz I don't really want to not use IE8 - I'd still far rather with Firefox

I get an error "unable to load XPCOM. I know that I can reinstall Firefox, but when I went to do that he erased all my favorites that I did a system restore. How to backup my bookmarks?
Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
- Download the full Firefox installation program and save the file to the desktop
https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/all/
If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.
- Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.
If you keep problems also create a new profile.
- Download the full Firefox installation program and save the file to the desktop

I'm on Firefox 17.0.11, if I uninstall Firefox and reinstall Firefox 17.0.11, I always get my original addons and bookmarks back?
IAM short of space on my hard drive, I prefer just to re - install Firefox 17.0.11
on my external hard drive, I have more than 200 GB of free space.Do NOT remove the data personal when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because all profile files will be deleted and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords from other versions of Firefox profiles.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
Note that there is a version of Firefox 24.1.1 ESR if you want to stay on the ESR update channel.

Firefox is always 'connection' while I'm on the web. It does not matter what site I'm on, but he keeps linking (wheel rotation) every 10 seconds or more. As it is reload the page. The page does not disappear, but it drives me crazy because it did not used to do this. I have download a free trial of WordPerfect, but it was not what I was looking for and deleted. I also reinstalled Firefox, so I don't know what is happening. Help please! I have a Windows 7 Sony Vaio computer. I ran virus check a couple of times and it came out very well.
Hello
Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.
(If you use it, switch to the default theme).
- Under Windows, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac, you can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key option key when starting Firefox.
- Under Linux, you can open Firefox 4.0 + with leaving Firefox then go to your Terminal and running Safe Mode: firefox-safe-mode (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
- Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. It might help others who have the same problem.
Thank you.

I started having the "it's embarrassing, impossible to find the website of your last" whenever I started Firefox. This happens even my preferences always says go to the home page. I deleted the folder of Firefox and re-installed application part. It did not work. Then, I deleted the folder 'profile' for firefox and then emptied the trash, so I can't get it back.
Now when I try to reinstall Firefox, I can't access the new installation of Firefox because I always 'no profile folder exists or is inaccessible. If you return to the location of your previous profile folder (I hope that you back up your bookmarks at least?) and navigate to a level to the Firefox folder, you can find a text file called profiles.ini which always points to the folder that is now gone. To help Firefox to forget the old profile, you can try to rename or delete this file and restart Firefox. Does it work?
Also, I read in another thread that the error you received is caused by a bug where you exit Firefox, when there is no more open pages. The solution is to quit smoking at least a page open.

I uninstall Firefox, and then reinstall Firefox, try to open Firefox and get an error message in a box indicating popup.
"Closing of Firefox.
"A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time. »
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

I reinstalled firefox pinterest bookmarklet no longer works, why?
I have a Mac with OS 10.5.8. I have Firefox 3.6.28. For reasons too long to quote I had to reinstall Firefox. I don't know what was the previous version. I'm more able to use the bookmarklet pinterest. It worked fine before the reinstall. The bookmarklet works fine in other browsers.
Another option to consider is to install the latest version of Firefox 10.0.x ESR that this version is newer than the version of Firefox 16.0.2.

Firefox 17 ESR replaced the version of Firefox 10 ESR, so turn off the automatic update and do not manually update.

I did the same process with google chromeUninstall Firefox ask you to close Google Chrome? It's strange. I guess that you have closed all the browser windows when this happens.
I should ask: why do you need to uninstall and reinstall Firefox? Usually, this does not resolve problems with Firefox. Maybe read this article: Firefox Refresh - reset the settings and Add-ons.
