  First thing to check is your trash, bak files that are backups of dbx files, that are made before the compaction.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 if there is no file bak then your only chance at recovery is DBXpress (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) which has an excerpt from disc feature that will analyze the entire hard drive for messages disk clusters and if they are still on the hard drive, it will recover them.

  I have 3 Yahoo! e-mail accounts and 1 gmail account that I use regularly. For all my e-list emails, I only use one of the Yahoo! accounts, but Thunderbird is trying to send the answers of my mailing list for the gmail account. I can't understand how control/change it.

  Messages are likely to the old identity and you can go to file | Import | Messages to bring them into the new identity.  See also point 4 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4

  The account information will have to be put in place in the new identity.  You can switch between the old and new identities also.  If save you messages and settings (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6), you must do it for the two identities, unless the new identity has all the information you need in it.
