Installed ram perfectly but now my PC turns, (a few stays at a black screen)
Hello
My Hp pavilion home PC a6160, accompanying initially installed at the factory 1 GB of ram. then I got domain upgrade to 2 GB of ram... Now, he has worked flawlessly so far... I had a Nvidia driver keep breaking any driver I use, or what I'm doing. So I saw some things on the net bad RAM could be the cause. Now, 512 MB of ddr2 ram died about 2 months ago... (my setup is 1 X 1 GB stick, 2 X 512 MB sticks). so I unplugged my computer from power. Took the stick 'dead' 512 MB, my computer closed, it works... Yet, nothing happens except a black screen and the screen saying no input detected. and my fans are running at 80% (hard)... so I put the 512 MB of ram back as it was... Always the same thing happening nothing black screen. The RAM is correctly installed, I press down firmly, the clips are on the key correctly... What the hell is casuing this black screen? even if the 512 MB was dead the other 1.5 GB should still work?-j' NEVER touched the other strips of RAM... Is MY GPU in the right place, barely touched. Please help me... Man, my computer is ulitmately stuffed... 1 nvidia driver give up my ram properly, cant work now is not even 2 years...
Hello
When you bought the memory module did you buy compatible RAM guaranteed from a major memory manufacturer or do you just go to a Best Buy and buy little RAM they said would work?
HP desktop PC is very particular about RAM. The RAM that you install must have a SPD (Serial Presence Detect) file that matches what your BIOS for its tables in the ROM of CMOS file finds. If the SPD does not match, the RAM will not work. SPD has the voltage and all the RAM timings. No match... no workee.
First remove the other memory module. Try to run without memory installed to see if it displays an error message. The new module of memory DIMM 1 position and clear the CMOS.
Unplug your PC.
remove the power cord from your PSU (power supply)
remove the CMOS battery.
Press the power button to leave the current stored to dissipate.
Look at the position of the jumper CLR_CMOS. Move the jumper from position 1-2 and place it in position 2-3. Leave it there for at least a minute.
Put back the jumper in position 1-2, and then reinstall the CMOS battery.
Connect the power cable to the PSU.
Connect your PC to the present House. The led on the back of a solid color or it flashes. If solid color then life is good.
Press the Start button.
Here is a convenient link with information on the motherboard of your PC.
Kind regards

I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 installed. Whenever I restart it, it has installed updates which can take up to an hour or freezes. You can ignore the automatic updates of Windows 7?

Looks like a hardware failure, how you proceed depends on whether you have a winxp cd real or only a recovery cd.
Your Compaq has no test utilities that are available when you start initially, perhaps by entering a certain combination of keys? The Compaq website for your specific model will tell you.

I have recived portable computer of the Government with windows pre installed 7professional but now I want to format and reinstal it I require the startup disk and product key (my OS is authentic)
If it's a copy of volume license installed, you will need to contact your employer to find the product key and get the installation files.
If it is preinstalled at the factory with Windows 7 Professional, then use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7.
New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.
This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...
For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device
For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device
For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device
For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward
For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo
For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.
For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...
For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power
Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"
Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

Can I buy a PC with Windows 8, install the free 8.1 update, then install the Pack Pro 8.1?
Thank you for your response. Curiosity you have done yourself, or find that it documented somewhere? I look around on the Microsoft store and support pages. I would not buy Pro pack, open it, and then not be able to return if Windows does not allow me to install it.
I personally, doesn't have Windows 8, 8.1, but the same principles apply to Windows set level 8.1 to Windows Pro 8.1.
Step 1:
When you receive your new Windows 8 PC, apply the latest Windows updates. Its likely your machine may not have been updated in months if he was sitting in a box on a store shelf or in a warehouse.
Step 2:
Backup installation of Windows 8 pre-installed:

Also check the manufacturer's documentation to learn how to create a recovery media where you do not have an external hard drive.
You can also create a recovery disk using a USB key.
Press the Windows key + W
Type: create the recovery disk
Make sure you have a USB stick with enough space
Plug it in
Check the option copy the recovery partition
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 3:
Upgrade to 8.1 Windows

Step 4:
Purchase and upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro Pack

Click System
Click on get more features with a new edition of Windows
Follow the instructions on the screen to make your purchase online.
