I uninstalled MSE and installed norton, now I can't access the web. any help? Vista Home premium

I just uninstalled MSE and installed Norton. Now I can't access the internet. I have vista Home premium. my internet works on all the other PCs in the House. the computer shows I have internet acess, but tells me that I can't Conect on the web. I used restore to an earlier date without change. What can I do?

Well, I just thought about it. I started in safe mode and uninstalled Norton and safety package provided with Norton from Comcast. It was the solution. I don't know if it was Norton, safety package, or both, but I'm back to MSE and perfect performance. I hope this can help someone else. Thank you

All the sudden, iTunes has stopped responding. I click top and nothing. I spent over an hour with a Senior Engineer at Apple's Support, which does not give me a ticket number so now Apple can't even find the person I talked to. This person had to remember and it's been 2 weeks. I called Apple back Support and since they can't find a ticket number they told me that I have to wait until this person reminds me. This engineer had me remove and reinstall iTunes with all the other components that go with it, I run it as administrator, pretty much did all the troubleshooting I had done on my own. I have now to sit and wait, hoping that this senior engineer at Apple called me back. It's poor and poor support for iTunes. If anyone has any advice, please share.

These can be things that you've already tried. Despite this, it might be interesting to try again. As another poster has said recently, though for another problem, "20th try was the charm.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • Upgrading to 4 Fusion and now I can't access the web server on my Mac host

I am running OS x 10.6.8 and I'm hosting a virtual machine running windows XP, using NAT Networking. I have a web server running on the mac I need to access from the hosted virtual machine. I used to be able to just use the IP address of the gateway in the virtual machine for the web server, but it doesn't seem to work. If I set the external IP address of the mac it seems to work, but I don't have a static IP address, so it is a pain to update every hour.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

Although in some cases, the IP address of the gateway works, nevertheless IMO that is a misuse and should use the address IP of VMware NAT Virtual Ethernet adapter IP address the host not IP address of gateway.

If in a Terminal, run the following command:

    ifconfig | grep -A 3 vmnet8

Then use the address after "inet" IP said at the exit.

    Example on my system:

Last login: Mon Jan 16 12:43:00 on ttys000
    Computer:~ WKZ$ ifconfig | grep -A 3 vmnet8
    vmnet8: flags=8863 mtu 1500
        ether 00:50:56:c0:00:08
        inet 172.16.198.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.198.255
    Computer:~ WKZ$

So I use 172.16.198.1 of the prompt or use the host name of the Mac (without the .local) after the addition of 172.16.198.1 and the hostname of the Mac to the guest hosts file.

    Hello

You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.

32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.

32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium, you should have a recovery if partition:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

    ------------------------

If the recovery partition is damaged or does not, you can then use the downloaded Home Premium as an alternative.

  • Reinstalled XP, but now I can't access the internet

    Hello

I recently reinstalled Win XP on the same computer on which this copy has been installed.  The computer will have access to our home WiFi network, although he does not always see other computers on the network.  Worse, is that when I run IE6 Service Pak 2 (the version that is installed on the original disc), I can pull up the MSM homepage which will remain for about 15 seconds, then I get an error that IE has to close.  I think it boils down to "I can't access the Internet."  Tried everything that I can think and followed a number of suggestions on this forum.  I've seen comments that I need the update to Windows Service Pak 3 here, but, of course, I can't that without access to the internet.

    Any ideas?  Thank you, Susan

    A few thoughts...
    -from another computer...
-Make sure you get all the drivers for your computer from the manufacturers Web site
-Download a form any anti-virus (MSE for example)
    -Download SP3 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24

Once you have done this, I hope you can get on the Internet. Once there, get all your updates.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

  • Change sharing permissions, now I can't access the local disk

Hello all, I have two computers, both running windows 7 (one is 64-bit and the other is 32-bit) connected via LAN and WiFi. One of them has all of the local disk shared with full compensation for everyone (full control). I decided to remove these permissions and control to "deny". Then I had to cancel the task and decided to resume later. HURT, now I've lost access to this drive, even though I can access some files. When I try to enter in the drive, an error message appears saying "C: is not accessible. Access is denied. I did some research and it seems to be a common problem, but I followed all the steps did not work. It shows as 0 bytes and security options does not show anything, but "you don't have permission to view or change the permissions of the object settings. I tried to adapt, even in safe mode and as administrator, do not to prevail. It keeps saying 'access denied' I also tried to set a hidden administrator account, but the account manager is 'not available for my system' when I made these unfortunate changes, it was not this computer but on the other, I think it might be the reason. Now, I can not access my local disk or change anything. Please, help me, I can't find a solution to this mess!

I have checked the computer name, sharing, turned off the firewall.  Still can't find the question.

I've corrected in fact accidentally the problem today.  I uninstalled a Malware program and tada!, the other pc on the network were immediately able to access the XP pc.  The 'good' pc was always able to access internet, router, network between them.  The only problem we had was the 'bad' pc was able to connect at all, but the 'good' pc were unable to connect to the computer of 'bad '.

    Hello SteveO_1968,

To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
    4. Click repair your computer.
    5. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.
    7. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note To start the computer from the Windows Vista DVD, the computer must be configured to start from the DVD drive. For more information on the configuration of the computer to start from the DVD drive, see the documentation provided with your computer or contact the computer manufacturer.

    Bootrec.exe options

The Bootrec.exe tool supports the following options. Use the option that suits your situation.

Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup problem, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. In doing so, you ensure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the command prompt Windows RE:

    • bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup
    • c:
    • Boot CD
    • BCD attrib s h - r
    • Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old
    • Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    / FixMbr

The /FixMbr option writes a MBR compatible Windows Vista on the system partition. This option does not overwrite the existing partition table. Use this option when you need to solve problems of corruption of MBR, or when you need to remove the non-standard code from the MBR.

    / FixBoot

The /FixBoot option writes a new boot sector on the system partition by using a boot sector that is compatible with Windows Vista. Use this option if one of the following conditions is met:

    • The boot sector has been replaced by a non-standard Windows Vista boot sector.
    • The boot sector is damaged.
    • An earlier Windows operating system has been installed after the installation of Windows Vista. In this scenario, the computer starts by using Windows NT Loader (NTLDR) instead of Windows Boot Manager (Bootmgr.exe).

    / ScanOs

The /ScanOs option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. In addition, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store. Use this option when there are installations of Windows Vista which is not in the Boot Manager menu.

    / RebuildBcd

The /RebuildBcd option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. In addition, this option allows you to select the facilities you want to add to the BCD store. Use this option when you need to completely rebuild the BCD.
