  Uninstalling a previous version of elements doesn't change anything on your image or catalog files.

  Treat it as a corrupted user file.  To fix this usehttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.  Use the new administrator account to do this.  Follow the directions given and everything will be fine and your new admin account should work normally.  Once you have ccnfired you can access, to all your acccess all of your programs and files, you can delete the old user obsolete and corrupt.

  That's all there is to it.  Now that we know, this is the profile and not the system, the solution has been set for us.

  Hey guys I hope that someone can help me!

  My Windows Photo Gallery crashes constantly... I can open it up and then after a few seconds a window opens telling me that "Windows Photo Gallery has stopped working". The same problem happened when you access my folder of photos but I changed the display of thumbnails for details and that helped.

  1 when was the last time it was working fine?

  2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

  I suggest that you check to see if the problem persists in safe mode.

  Note: Display in safe mode wouldn't be good display drivers are disabled.

  Restart the computer to return to normal mode

  I would also say that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

  The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

  Assuming you are using Vista...
  Windows Photo Gallery is just an 'intermediate '. Real images are stored in a folder. Usually, it is in the pictures folder.
  Click the Start button > right side, click on the photos.

  Now, the pictures that you received in the mail came as attachments?
  If so, and assuming you are using Windows mail...
  Right-click on the "trombone" (attachment) > click on save attachments > place you in the folder of your choice (the destination where the photos will be saved in) > click Save.

  What was most useful in the articles, have been discussions to crop images in part overview before you actually complete the scan.  I then tried pulling handles resizing/cropping right up to the edges of my picture and then scanned. Voila! Who did it!  I got the whole picture, full size-problem solved.  It would be really useful if explained in the directions of scanning to make sure that the edges of calibration were tight around the image/document being scanned-it really makes the tower.  Your info made me think in the game of the mind.   Hello, I have Windows 7 on my laptop. I recently downloaded the latest version of the Windows Photo Gallery on my machine and he used to edit and organize my photos. I now have lots of photos selected in a file. Then I tried to re - order the photos by dragging individual photos in another post, which would put them out of chronological order. The program wouldn't let me do that, even if I tried the slide show mode. I tried a tab in various screens, but could not come through all that would allow me to do. How is it possible without painstakingly rename each picture?

  Damn, some more complications. We were on a Holland America Cruise ship recently and I attended seminars put on by the techie edge and we had to use a bunch of machines with Windows 8 on them. There, it was so easy to rearrange photos, put captions, categories etc on them as well as a lot of other interesting things such as Pan photos, photo editing, etc. For me, it's a lot of things Photoshop does than maybe not to the same extent.

  Now you have concerned me! I quickly skimmed the link you mentioned, and it seems that the deactivation of the reorganization could cause some problems so I'm hesitant to try it. Especially when you say, "Proceed at your own risk" and "good luck".

  Questions arise:

  (1) if I go back to the reorganization, all my photos in the photo gallery Windows will return to the agreement prior to the photos or not. It's a real problem if I spend hours reorganization of my photos.

  (2) if I turn off the reorganization, it will also affect the pictures in my Gallery of picture-taking.

  It may be preferable for me to upgrade to Windows 8, even if I don't have touch capability. Checking online, I see that it will cost about $120 to upgrade to Windows 7. I'm the Canada so there may be a completely different price.

  What is your opinion... it's worth it to upgrade? I know that the free sort option is available. Understand there are other improvements too, such a best Windows Live Mail email program. I had thought of before upgrading, but I also remember reading that it will soon be upgrading to Windows 8 (due to some defects or gaps) so if I download the current Windows 8, I could pay for a program that is close to being obsolete.
