I use Firefox 35 on a Win7 laptop.
Today, I tried to go to my internet settings and only a box opens with a title bar and nothing else. The box has a copy of everything under it, but no information of the option. It's used to work.
Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- Click the menu button
click Help
then select restart with disabled modules.
If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:
- On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
- On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

Why do I need to register a credit card and give my CVV number to use Firefox on my iPad?
I use Firefox on both a Windows laptop and a Mac Mini computer base and I'm very happy with the way it works, if you want to install it on my iPad, but it lets me not do without updating my credit card and CVV number, I can see no need and am refuses to do without good reason. Can you please tell me why this is necessary – or maybe give me a 'work-around."
Hello André, thank you very much for your answer. I was in an Apple Store today, because I had exactly the same message when I tried to download their App Store of Apple for FREE! Initially, they were puzzled, but then wondered if I was happy NOT to have a credit card registered against my Apple i.d. - which I was. As they did scroll the message, there was a list of credit card types - e.g., Visa, Mastercard, etc. that you had a choice, but there was an option to choose NO who then deleted the message and allowed me to download the applications Apple and Firefox without any problem. (The message was coming because the card I had used to record my Apple i.d. has since expired and was replaced). Thank you very much once again for pointing me to Apple, I hope this solution helps those who are wary of entering their credit card CVV number!

I am currently using Firefox on my desktop or portable 38.0 and need to import my favorites of the laptop on my desk which also has Firefox 38.0. Please provide details on how to perform this procedure.
Thank you
Vern7
Pretty simple and easy, not only are there alternative methods, as is often the case in computing, but different methods produce different results.
Aid articles have more complete explanations with step by step instructions and screenshots. You have the choice of four methods depending on what you're trying to reach. Ask you what set of bookmarks is the largest and most complex?
Import and export of the a.)
This adds bookmarks. It spikes on the existing ones. (For example, if the laptop: unsorted, folder of bookmarks and bookmarks are now additional folders in the existing desktop bookmarks menu.)
Useful to simply do what you asked: export the Favorites of the laptop and import those on the desktop.
However, if the office is new and has only a few bookmarks on it, but the laptop has the major then consider- Export of the desktop as a HTML file.
- Backup of the laptop to create a .json file
- Restore the .json laptop on the desktop file.
- Follow-up to import HTML file
- Office has now all the bookmarks of the laptop, as well as his own originals
See
- Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks
- Importing bookmarks from an HTML file
(B) backup and restore
This procedure by report written all existing bookmarks. He retained the structure of folders and bookmark labels. Ideal if bookmarks of laptop are the only ones that you care. Or combine the two methods, as suggested above.(C.) manually replace the bookmarks and the historical database.
Not what you asked but that also gets the history information.
This is useful if you often rely on the addessbar acting as the awesomebar- Backup and restore Firefox profiles information
- Awesome Bar - Find your Firefox bookmarks, history, tabs in the address bar
(D.) sync
An alternative is to use Firefox Sync. Who should ensure that the laptop and the Office have the same bookmarks.
However if you do this save your bookmarks manually before the first sync bookmarks. I highly recommend that if synchronize you bookmarks you make regular manual backups too, because Sync itself can sometimes corrupt and duplicates of bookmarks. (If you do not notice this corruption quickly you can't have automated bookmarks that are free of corruption.) -
I keep getting the "this connection is not approved" in all the sites when I use Firefox on windows laptop 36.0.1 8. How can I overcome this.
Hi vijaysampath, please make sure first that the date, time, and time zone are set correctly on your system. If this does not solve the problem (or it is already set correctly), a possible solution depends on different factors:
- What is the error code indicated under Technical Details on the error page?
in case the error code is equal to sec_error_unknown_issuer, please try to add an exception on the bottom of the error page to verify the certificate, as shown on the attached screenshot:
- What information about the issuer of the certificate contain?
Please take these two pieces of information. Thank you!

Is there anywhere I can look to see what is running or happening when my PC crashes?
BACKGROUND:
My PC has been freezing more frequently lately.
It seems to happen more often when I am on battery, usually when I am online using Firefox my default browser.
I tried checking the event viewer, but did not find much, and do not know, I am interested in the right part.
I can say without a doubt it happens when it is on battery power, almost never when it is plugged.
In addition, it seems to happen more frequently when I use Firefox, but then I'm usually just surf when I'm on battery. When I don't really work, I tend to sit at a desk and connect.
Here are my specs:
Product number: XG871UA
OS: Windows Home Premium Service Pack 1
Browser: Firefox Chrome for the most part, other times
I'm starting to capture when / where it happens the more frequntly in a strive to locate the problem.
I'll try to turn off Firefox addins / extensions as a first step, but would like any other tips.
Thank you!
IanI did a quick check this week, surfing on the battery while using Firefox, I fell two times. Once run it normally, first with all add-ons disabled.
When I switched to Chrome I had any problems.
I'll close this and call it a problem of Firefox, I'll open a new ticket if it appears elsewhere.
But I'll check the both battery test.
Thank you!

Visit this page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/map-geolocation or any other website using geolocation to track my location shows a blank map and no prompt "share location: allow, block, not now."
This has happened since upgrading to FF 24 (Office Win7 64). Decommissioning of FF 23.0.1, solves the problem: FF before 24 supports geolocation without problem. Tried in my desktop and laptop with separate FF, using different plugins installations.
Thank you in advance.
[NOTE: now using Firefox 23.0.1, the problem does occur only after upgrading to Firefox 24]
Uninstalling Firefox completely from my laptop and install it again, solved the problem.
I have not yet tried with my office.
The laptop uses whereas the ethernet office wifi. The problem exists in the installation of the laptop FF 24 too, so I don't think it was the root of the problem, at least in my case.

I use FireFox for internet. Do I still need IE?
I read that they are is no longer up-to-date IE? Not sure that article online was legitimate or not... Nevertheless, I spent to use FireFox as a main source to browse the WWW.
Is it possible to uninstall IE or is it too integrated with other programs on our laptop to do so? It just takes up so much space, and it would be nice to free that up for other things I actually use.
I think I'm on Windows 8 or 8.1. Any information in terms of lameman would be awesome. I'm not very well informed on all current tech stuff.
Thanks in advance.
IE is not interrupted. Microsoft will come out with a new browser that could not qualify for IE, but IE 11 should be supported and updated for years to come.
There is no need to remove IE, and in fact, there are still some sites requiring an owner of Microsoft technology that works only in IE, so I suggest to keep around in case you stumble across one of these.

A few days ago, I tried to connect to Facebook to play games, chat and so on. After filling in the username and password, I get a message telling me it looks like I have malware on my computer and I need to download certain types of anti-malware program to clean my computer. This only happens when using Firefox. How can I get rid of this? I tried to remove and reinstall Firefox. I ran two major anti-malware programs that work on my laptop. If it is a legitimate program from Fb, I would like the option to refuse. I did not have the choice. I can connect to Fb on Google Chrome without problems, and so I have to conclude that this is a problem with Firefox. Any ideas? I tried to contact Fb, but so far there has been no response.
If you get a pop-up message asking to put plugins or Firefox updated or anti-malware analysis then this message probably is a scam and you should never respond to such reporting to avoid being infected by malware.
- Don't update Firefox via "> about" or by downloading and installing Firefox from Mozilla and server never using a popup or a link on a web page.
- Plugins should be updated only through the plugin itself, or by visiting the home page of the plugin.
Make a check of malware with several malware scanning of programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.
All of these programs have free versions.Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before scanning.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.
See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem.
