  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

  Thanks for your reply.  I had used your printing HP and Scan of the doctor before making my post.  He now works once more and the problem seems to be that the printer had got somehow a loop and could not function.  I had unplugged and reset several times without success.   I finally left it unplugged for 12 hours.  When I reconnected it, the printer started to print once more.  The HP PSC 2410 photosmart is an older printer and I think it's on its last leg unfortunately.  It has been a work horse and I shall certainly, when it produced its last printed sheet.

  My problem has been resolved.
