I've been using FF, but now it does not open.

I opened Firefox. I have tried the following with no luck:

I tried to uninstall Firefox, so I can reinstall FF and I got this message:
"FF must be closed for uninstalling.
"Please close FF to continue."

I tried to download a new install of FF. When I'm in the standard installation of Mozilla and selected installation wizard, I received this message:
"FF must be closed for installation."
"Please close FF to continue."

I have also gone into task manager and closed the open FF processes and restarted the computer. I still could not open FF.

I also tried to open the profile folder and delete the file "parent.lock" by a previous suggestion, I received.

I need help.

Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if it helps to uninstall Firefox.

Alternatively, you can remove the folder from the Firefox program manually on the disk.

  • (32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
  • (Windows 64 bit) C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox\
