  I'm well aware of that. The "no user input" occurs when the Dell is used on a Dell PC because the SLP routine is dependent on the CMOS chip from the motherboard on the Dell XP installation CD custom and the associated code.

  However, if I understand correctly, you can always use the Dell on a non - Dell PC (problems of licence notwithstanding). But the person would need to use a valid OEM key.   Enter the control panel > devices and printers.
  Right-click the printer icon, and then click printer properties.
  Click the device settings tab.
  As installed in Duplex Automatic Two-Sided accessory and then click OK to save the change.

  I had a similar problem where the fonts showed very pixelated, after that I have upgraded to Windows 10.  For some reason any text 'smooth' set default to 'None' (Preferences > Page Display > rendering > smooth text)-I've now changed this setting to "Monitor" and it seems to have solved this problem...
