You can in the finder copy your library to EHD. Make sure that the EHD are formatted OS Extended journaled. Open the library in iMovie to make sure that it copied correctly.

Your post shows your PC than the execution of win10, but it comes preinstalled with Win8x. If the drive supports USB 2.0, then're you good to go. If you need to save a file that is greater than 2 GB, then you can benefit with eSATA if taken in charge by your PC. If you have up to 500 MB of data, then USB 2.0 would be an acceptable compromise. Remember that the speed of transfer of files more small piles is much slower than a large file. That's why I like to put important data in a partition logic extendend separate on the same hard drive and use an imaging program to back up this partition on CD, DVD, or another hard drive. The result is a compressed image unique record about 1/2 the size of the source partition.

Hello. I just got a new laptop from HP windows 8 and you want to restore a back up I took my old HP laptop on an external hard drive. When I plug the hard drive, the ups return display in the file Explorer, but I can't find a way to restore the backup to the new laptop, the only option I can find is to know how to put in place to save on the hard drive and restore the files that I've just saved from the new laptop. There is nothing really on the new computer laptop so it doesn't matter if I lose these (and they are now saved when even!), its mainly pictures and iTunes on the back up, a few old excel & word files I think. When I click on Explorer the external hard drive in the file, there is a PC owner icon that shows a folder named Backup set & the date, he didn't save folders of files for various dates, in the most recent are the backup files 1 & backup files 2, from 2012.
How can I get these on the new laptop? I can't take another back up as the old laptop crashed and lost everything, where the need to get this back up to the new computer.

I went in lightroom and can't find my photos. I lost the link before and did the right click to find and they have been found, but it's different.

I guess you have previously installed iTunes such as library files were in the usual place of C:\Users\ < user > \Music\iTunes but the media were on an external drive, for example in X:\ < Media folder >, and no longer have access to the old library, or are perhaps new to iTunes, then so be it you will need to start over again. If, then hold down the SHIFT key when you launch iTunes. Keep now until you see a prompt to create or choose a library. Click on create and make a new library at the root of the external drive, i.e. as X:\iTunes , where X is the drive letter of the external drive. Once this operation is complete, use Windows Explorer to move the existing media folder within the X:\iTunes\iTunes Media, rename the folder that you moved as say other media to avoid any possible confusion in the future, select the menu with Ctrl + B bar and use file > add folder to library, to import the file to other media in the library. Will everything that iTunes adds to the library be shuffled around. All that remains in the other media will be happy that iTunes does not know what to do with such incompatible media or album art carried out by Windows Media Player. You can sift throigh this, take what you want and use replacements for all players what you keep.

I shoot on a Sony Alpha a65 and it uses AVCHD when recording. I have not met this problem before.
I transferred the entire contents of a memory card on my external hard drive.
I tried to import the images from the hard drive, both using the import media browser-only video clips are imported with NO AUDIO.
I thought that I had corrupted images as my memory card was images of two different rods. I turned one on 2 October and the other on 15 Oct (approx.).

Unable to go back to my 2 TB WD external hard drive
I put to the top of my Windows 7 PC, less than 2 years, save each month at the end of the month. Much to my surprise, he never did.
