I want to disable the default e-mail account in outlook 2003 so I'm prompted to select an account before sending a message.

I use outlook 2003 as my email on XP client. I have 7 settings of accounts (me, wife and children, junk etc.). WE are simply not enough disciplined to do not forget to change the account every time we want to send a mail so that I find myself sending stuff that my wife if I set the default to her and she sends me stuff if we put in place for me. Is there a way to eliminate the fault and get Outlook to ask which account use?

You cannot disable the default Gmail account.  It is obligatory on the phone.  However, you can turn off notifications in the Gmail app.  That should eliminate the second notification.  Open the Gmail app and press Menu-> settings and uncheck the box to mail notifications.  This should take care of your problem.  I hope this helps.

  • How to change the default e-mail account

I have 4 email accounts configured in Mail.app. When you compose a new message, it will be by default the account for the selected mailbox, which is great. However, when no particular mailbox is selected (when you view the Inbox combined for example), it is the default account. I want the default to another account.  How can I tell Mail.app account to use?

Changing the order of the mailbox makes no difference. There is a preference that would allow me to have all new messages come from a certain account, but I don't want that. I want to its default value of the box running mailbox if it exists. I want to just change the value by default when there is no current mailbox selected.

It is has got to be a way to do that, right?

Mail > Preferences > accounts (select your main account) > account number > AccountType IMAP 'email address '.

In your list of aliases move to the top of the list, your primary e-mail address.

  • Mail refuses to give up the default e-mail application

Yesterday, I had a problem where I was unable to grant other e-mail applications by default and found the fix on a Web page that seems to have solved the problem and I was then able to select Outlook or Thunderbird as the default email application.

In Terminal, type the following command

    /System/Library/frameworks/CoreServices.Framework/versions/A/frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister-tuer - r - all local, system, user

But for some reason, the problem came back today, and Mail does not allow me to grant other default e-mail applications. Someone at - it ideas as to why and how to fix it? Thank you...

    Have you try this:

Open Mac Mail > > Preferences > > general tab > > select Microsoft Outlook.app as the default e-mail application.

    Hi SurajMendon,

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the platform of networking on TechNet. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows XP Networking forum.

  • I want to disable the USN journal because of the huge size and fragmentation

In fact, I decided to use Windows again after 7 is out and seems relatively stable.  I've been a Linux user for many years.

I want to disable the USN journal because of the huge size and fragmentation; I am not concerned about its performance in the fragmentation, I am concerned about the fragmentation of other files that it encourages rather SHORT time same amounts.  Not all programs have created allowances size correctly when creating new files so even a new file which was one copy of another (100 MB) can be fragmented over 30 times in a NTFS FS relatively fully defragmented.

Microsoft?  HOW DO DISABLE YOU THE USN JOURNAL IN WINDOWS 7?  Not "How can I clear this" or "how stuck junk to existing articles"...  How is it DISABLED?

    -FRUSTRATED

    fsutil usn [deletejournal] {/D | / n}

    Of http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc788042 (WS.10) .aspx

However, I am sure that you can not turn it off for the system volume.

You will get a response from Microsoft here.

Just one extra point. I guess that you are talking about the \$Extend\$UsnJrnl:$J metafile; It is a fragmented NTFS file. The oldest entries are reset to zero while the file increases so they don't take any physical disk space. Actually used disk space may not exceed greatly MaxSIze + DeltaAllocation.

  • Setup Eudora as the default e-mail program

    Hello

    Operating system: Win7

I have always (for the right reasons) sue Eudora as my main e-mail client.  Whenever I installed a Windows Update, Windows set Outlook as my client, but it has been noticed by Eudora which, early on, was told that he was no longer the default client.  I could easily change that by starting Eudora as an administrator and then clicking on the option to make it my default e-mail client.

BUT from the windows of the last updated, it no longer works and Eudora told me that it was impossible to change the registry (even when starting as an administrator).

I tried to restore Eudora as the default e-mail program by going to wut Start\Default program that eudora does not appear here and I can't change the (set on Outlook) to Eudora MAPI option because this option is greyed out...

How can I restore Eudora as my default mail (mainly for the mailto protocol) client?

I found myself a solution that may be useful to other people faced with the same or similar problems.

1 each (major) Windows Update and for reasons known only to Microsoft, registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\mailto\shell\open\command key has been changed and gives the order to outlook... (even if it was for Eudora before the update).

2 Eudora could not change this key (and restore the command again to Eudora.exe) even when run as administrator because this key is protected...  (I noticed that I couldn't change the key manually).

    3. However, when I gave permission to administrators to modify this key and restarted the computer, Eudora (run as root) could change the key which now reads: C:\PROGRA~2\Qualcomm\Eudora\Eudora.exe/m %1, which is what to do...

So, problem solved, but why Microsoft protected this key during one if its last update remains a mystery.

  • How to determine whether Outlook is the default e-mail program Windows 7

There are a number of postings on Internet in the topic configure Outlook (I use Outlook 2013) as the default e-mail program. I can go into Control Panel, default programs, select Outlook, click on set this program as default and click OK. However, I don't see any indication that I've accomplished anything. How will I know that Outlook is my default mail program?

Windows Explorer to open a folder that contains .jpg files.

Right-click on one of them, then click on 'send '.

Select "E-Mail" as a target. Windows will now open the default mail Manager.
