I want to move the HDD on Satellite L10

Hello

I'm new to the forum, I bought a satellite l10 two years ago and was looking at my hard drive upgrade, glancing accessories toshiba advises that I have to buy an external hard drive, but this simply means that some additional items to carry, can someone advise or help me

Hello

Of course you can upgrade the HARD drive.
If you want to upgrade the HARD drive, you must buy one that is compatible and supported by the BIOS.
Each HARD drive size is unsupported by the BIOS. There is a limitation and big hard drives could not be recognized.
Sat L10 supports an improved IDE (ATA-6) interface and some devices were shipped with 40 GB HARD drive.

In my view, that a 60 GB HARD drive should be compatible. Perhaps also a 80 GB HARD drive but I m not 100% sure of this size of HARD drive.

If you want you can test.

wanted to move the icons, but can't. Why the icons would be locked in place? Is there a way
    to unlock?

If they are locked then it means that the extension that adds these buttons you cannot customize the buttons.

You can check these preferences settings (options) to see if it is possible to do it this way.

If this isn't the case, then you are out of options.

  • I want to move the profile data and the addons on another disk

I want to move the profile data and the addons on another disk.

Can I specify where Firefox puts the profile and the addons?

If another location, then Windows uses by default.
    c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

    WinXP, FF 3.6.8

You can do this by using the Profile Manager. When you create a new profile, you can specify a location for the profile folder.

You may create a new profile, and then transfer the data to it. For more information, see create a new profile for Firefox on Windows and transferring data to a new profile.

Assuming that you had bought a copy of the sale at retail of Office 2010 (i.e., it not was not preinstalled by the manufacturer of the computer or downloaded and installed using a "product key card"), just install it on the new system and turn on normally.  In some cases, you may use telephone activation and explain the circumstances (i.e., the old computer is dead).

Microsoft Office is not a step "off authorizes" as some other apps (Adobe comes to mind).

  • Want to upgrade RAM HDD & on Satellite P10 - 304

    Help, please

I have a Satellite P10-304. There is only a tiny 256 RAM and 30 GB hard drive.
    Can I put both?

I was looking to upgrade to 2 GB ram at least and 120 to 160 GB of hard drive.
Looked at the pc world, I know not which is compatible with mine.

    Thank you

    Hello

Of course you can upgrade this P10.

The RAM can be upgraded up to 2 GB and you use PC2100 DDR - RAM modules.

I think that the laptop supports the HDD IDE ATA-5 and in my opinion, you would be able to update with 100 GB or 120 GB HDD

  • I want to move the folder Program Files to another hard drive.

I have Windows 7 installed on a small primary partition on one of the two hard drives, double boot with Windows XP.  My installation of Windows XP is on a smaller primary partition (like Windows 7) and Program Files folder on a separate drive logic in an extended partition, not on the system drive.  I want to make a folder Program Files of Windows 7 on the same logical drive, Program Files and move the Program Files from Windows 7 folder to that partition on the second hard drive.

Just an update.  I finally managed to move 'Users' on a separate partition, so my installation of Windows 7 now has Windows on a partition, the files program on a logical drive in an extended partition, and users on a separate logic in this extended partition.

On the Windows partition, there are junctions that point to the logical drive Program Files and the logical drive of users and editing the registry to set these default locations.  Windows updates proceed normally and successfully.  Program facilities smoothly and work as expected.  I'll post my procedures on my site, I hope that in the near future, after that I tested and confirmed their on my other Windows 7 machines.

Be forewarned, however, that this separation will break the ability to repair/reinstall (upgrade on-site) Windows 7.  It will stop when he sees that Program Files not are not on the system partition.  However, in my particular case, I depend on third-party software disk for backup, Imaging for the loss of this functionality (repair/reinstall) has no real interest for me.  Restore a disk image is much faster.

There are other methods posted on the net to separate these main divisions of Windows during the installation. My methods are intended to guide differently to an existing facility while retaining all the features.  And once again, as shown in this thread, Microsoft Support seems to discourage that kind of thing.

  • I just upgraded to 4.0 and want to move the "home" button on the left side of the toolbar. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

The 'home' button is off to the right of the toolbar. He moved between Adblock Plus and Abine. It is in a bad place that I turn my cursor to the balloons of the 'home' two mentioned buttons pop-up button. I want to place the button "home" to the left of the address window. Thank you.

It's easy enough to do, for more details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/how-do-i-customize-toolbars

  • How to replace the HDD on Satellite 1130?

How to replace the hard drive in this notebook?

    Hello

If I remember well HDD is under the optical media drive. Optical media drive is fixed with a screw that you see above the player. Remove the screw and remove the drive from the Bay.

HARD drive is fixed, I think, 4 screws (probably black). When the screws are removed you can use two fingers to remove the HDD from the connector plug. I hope you now know how to put the new HARD drive.

    Good bye

  • Move the HDD from 510 a Pavilion to Pavilion 1600n

Hello 1dumbguy, first of all, let me mention the links you list are not valid. But to your question.

Specifications of 510 showed he has a 40 GB IDE hard drive. The specifications can be found here .

The 1600n specs show that it has some Sata ports, but also some IDE connectors as well.

The 1600n printer specifications can be found here .

You should be able to remove the hard disk of 40 GB IDE and ribbon cable and install it in the case of 1600n, if there is a place to mount the hard disk of 40 GB.

You must install ribbon cable into the primary IDE connector port and also make sure that the spindle of the rider on the 40 GB hard drive is set to selection of cables (CS), if not already.

Restart the system and enter the BIOS and see if the hard disk of 40 GB is recogonized and in the Group of hard drive.

Then restart the system and when your desktop appears, go to the computer and see Windows recogonizes 40 GB hard drive. If so, the drive letter may be different from what you would expect.

Just select the 40 GB hard drive and select sharing for this disc, and if your C: drive is already shared, you should now be able to access the hard drive files may be desired, then transfer the files back and forth on hard drives.

  • 'Bad Machine' error when I start the recovery on Satellite L10 media

    Hello...

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-103 and I want to make the recovery, since I have constant errors and my wireless does not work.

When I put on CD, everything is ok, I press F12 and get the choice when I want to access computer. I select the CD/DVD drive. That produces the recovery starts and I get this error message:

"Wrong Machine! This software is designed for personal computers TOSHIBA '

    What's wrong with it?

    Hello

Are you sure that the recovery CD you are using is designed for Satellite L10 - 103 to 110%?
    Please check this!

But if you use the same recovery CD that came with the laptop, and you still get the same error message, then the false DMI information that is stored on the motherboard might be responsible for this error message and might prevent to recover.

This can occur if the motherboard has been replaced and that the technician has not updated the DMI string.

  • Need information about the last update of the Bios for Satellite L10

    Hello

My computer is a Satellite L10-PSL10E.
The Bios is Phoenix V1.60 dated 21/12/04.
There is a new Bios (v2.80 - WIN dated 07/08/07) available on the Toshiba web site.
    What's new in this version?
Allows to start on an external hard drive or usb key?

Is it recommended to install updates if all works well on the computer?

If everything works you don't need new BIOS. Be happy with good running operating system.

If you want to boot from the external HARD drive to use the other operating system, it won't work.

  • Some problems with the LAN on Satellite L10 card after BIOS update

    Hello

I have a problem with my satellite L10. Map does not work after the installation of the new network of edge of Bios (2.80).
I tried it on Linux, BSD and WinXp. OS see my net card.
I can even install parameters and ping 127.0.0.1 and my ip.

But all the other pool spoke to me query time-out.

    Help me please.

    Hello

What to say I put t think that this could be linked to the BIOS. First of all, as you said that the LAN card is recognized correctly in the device if Manager she s works well!

However, you could try to access the BIOS and could set the BIOS default settings. Don t forget to save changes to BIOS ;)

In addition, it would be advisable to reinstall the NIC driver. The Toshiba driver page provides the Realtek LAN driver v5.618.1015.2004.

    Hello

I don t think you will be able to solve this problem yourself.
In my opinion there must be something wrong with the hardware.
You should ask the Toshiba service partner in your country for help.

  • Re: Hitachi Drive Fitness Test (DFT) does not detect the HDD on Satellite A660

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3C-047017 with a HARD MK6465GSX Toshiba drive. After experience, some consecutive failures of start-up, I was told on the Toshiba forums to use Drive Fitness Test (DFT of Hitachi).

I burned the ISO to a CD and booted from it (I must press F12 for boot options and select the optical drive), which is to run successfully. However, it does not detect my drive HARD - the list is empty.

Is there something I need to do to make visit to DFT?

I cannot commend this third part software features, but I want to know if you still have these failures to start your portable computer satellite?

    What's the problem?
