Cannot open attachments in firefox. OK in IE and iPhone and outlook
When using firefox for the email, I'm now unable to open attachments. Happened over the last week, before that, it was fine and I have not changed any settings (that I know).
I tried all the usual stuff of restart and looked at the settings as much as possible, but nothing jumps.
Email attachments even open fine in outlook, since my iphone and in IE, but I prefer the firefox because I used to use it for so long now. In addition, old attachments that I opened in the past won't open.
Never had any problems before with opening of attachments. All programs are affected - word, excel, pdf, etc.
Thanks - Jacki

In previous versions of Firefox, I was able to open a document, for example, an attachment or document by following a link to a Web site and then decide if I wanted to save or just read. More often now that otherwise, it automatically saves it downloads, although not all the time. Choices in settings/general concern that choose which folder to save in and do not choose to do not to record at all. For example, I went to www.overseal.org, then chose the Documents and Budget 2013-2014.
This means that nothing seems to happen on the screen, and to view the document, I have to go to downloads and subsequently remove it from there if I don't want to keep. Can I change a setting somewhere to return to the previous practice, please?

I checked that Adobe is set to open in Firefox. Other accessories open adobe simply cannot.
The current versions of Firefox have allowed a built-in PDF Viewer that has all of the features that other PDF as Adobe Reader readers have or can not work properly otherwise.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) to Preview in Firefox to use Adobe Reader software or set always ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications.
You can set the pref pdfjs.disabled true on the topic: config page to disable the build-in the PDF Viewer.
You can also check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref and remove the part application/pdf, if any.See also:

File/folder preserved but can still edit and save the file
Nice day
I just want to ask how to protect a file/folder on Windows 7 from deletion, but I can still edit and save to the same file... (the file/folder is shared on other computers)...Thanks in advance...LorenzYou can go in the advanced security settings and explicitly deny file record all users "deleting subfolders and files" and "Remove" permissions, make sure that you propagate permissions to all child objects. But, as mentioned by another poster, if users can change the files they can damage or save them as empty files.

I want TO open the PDF file in Adobe DO NOT FF but updates force me to FF
My FF decided on 01/12/2012 to open in the browser, the substitution of my settings. No matter what I do, how to change the settings, PDF files open in FF. I totally uninstalled Acrobat 11 and reinstalled Acrobat 10. Always opens in the browser (Yes that means it is FF the problem?)
My settings in FF were to open in Reader, overridden. Changed to save the file. Overloaded. NO.

When Firefox 3.6.11 came out I wanted to update. I clicked "apply downloaded update now... "and then just rebooted without updating. I went to the download page, download the program installation and upgrade in this way. It worked, but now it still says "apply downloaded update now...» "in the Help menu.
Why it does this and how can I fix this without losing my bookmarks and settings?See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update doesn't work does not correctly)
Delete the files in the folder updates\0 and updates:
Vista/Windows7:C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)
- Download a new copy of Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
- Remove the Firefox program folder before installing this copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a (rei) installation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you decide to uninstall Firefox.

I followed the procedure to import bookmarks from chrome as described by firefox, but firefox does not import the html file. I get to the last step of the procedure and it just doesn't work. You can suggest something. Thanks, Dan

When I want to open an attachment, I first need to save it to the computer. Is there a way to simply open it?
Of course it is. It is enough to click on the attachment and select 'Open' from the context menu.
If you don't see this option, make sure you have the latest updates for the e-mail program. Open the app Store and check updates (top-right).

Firefox opens to my homepage as you want, but it's on a window in the upper right corner, about 4 "and 3" high. It's easily slide into a display full size, but I want to open this way, as it did before I updated to the version of Firefox yesterday. I find no immediately obvious option to set the size of this opening by default. How can I do this? Also, I have now a problem with Flash crashing that I didn't before the update. How to fix this?
Thanks for the heads up, Cor - el.

You can check if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift/Options key.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.
You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.
