I want to reinstall my Win 7 home base, it was pre-installed so I don't have the product key, no cd installation?

I tried Win 8 (trial version) and now I want to re - install my Win 7 Basic Home Edition. It was preinstalled on my lap top so I only have the genuine product key, but no installation cd. How to re - install?

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

or

Reinstall Home Basic

You will need a whole in a single installer disk that you can use to select Windows 7 Home Basic Edition during installation. See the following for instructions:

For a DVD that contains all the flavors of 32-bit and a DVD that contains all the flavors of 64-bit Windows 7: Starter,Home Basic , Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate see here.

  • How can I reinstall Windows 8 on an OEM laptop when I don't have the product key?

I bought an Asus x401a laptop for my daughter as a Christmas gift. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8. Yesterday, the unit closed at key and we had to make a hard stop. On reboot, Windows will not start and instead came up with a screen that informed it was an automatic repair. This obviously didn't want to; the unit restarted and launched the auto repair, which once again. The third box... I had a few options: I could update the installation or reset it. There were several recorded files (we only had a few weeks), so I chose Reset, which if I understand correctly, it would clear everything and start over. After a while, another screen informed me that Windows could not reset the computer, who took over the entire process to the wire.

I ran across this process several times, each time with the same result. I do not think that anything is actually wrong with the material (such as menus and other seem to work correctly; I think it's maybe just a corrupted file system) and I'd like to do a reinstall of the operating system, as it came from the factory. This is where I ran into my problem:

    • I can't download the Microsoft operating system legitimately, without providing the product key in the download tool
    • The product key is apparently built into the BIOS and not print anywhere, so I can't find my existing key without some sort of tool
    • Various tools are available to 'sniff' the product key from the BIOS, but because Windows is not running, I can't use them

So my question is: exactly what should be my next step? ASUS would have a copy of the key related to my serial number, etc.. ? Should I install an old copy of Windows 7 just so that I can run a utility to get the key from the BIOS, or who will replace the number by something else? Or is there perhaps some way I can get the key of product directly from you?

I like to keep Windows 8, as my daughter has already learned the interface, but at this point, it looks like this may be impossible by design.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I understand that you reinstall Windows 8 in the OEM specifications.

As it is the OEM of Windows 8 version, the system manufacturer will have more details in this regard. I suggest you contact the manufacturer of the system.

also my frist question is that if I install this version (xp sp3) with my product key, it will be legal?

The downloaded file CANNOT BE USED TO INSTALL WINDOWS.

It is not a question of legal or non-legal.  The file you download is not complete.  The downloaded file will update an existing installation of Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows XP Service Pack 2 for Windows XP Service Pack 3.

See the response of Mike Hall, but also, note the following:

What virus do you have? How do you know if you're a? Reinstalling Windows due to a virus is almost never required and is usually exaggerated way. It is normally much easier and much less likely to cause you problems if you delete the virus with a good antivirus program.

  • Original file Windows 7 Home Premium (x 64) hospitales *.iso to download - already have the product key

    Dear friends,

I have the product key of license for Windows 7 Home Premium (x 64) English, these days I'm looking for the answer to my question, but can't find anything. The HARD drive has been replaced on my laptop, so now I need to find the original file and reinstall windows. Please, someone help me! Thank you!

Any computer windows 7, which had the Windows installed KB3022345 update will produce the message of irreparable corrupted system files.  You have probably installed this month of may, 2015 update and that's the problem.

To make things worse, it is unlikely an update that you want to, because its purpose is to make it easier for you to upgrade to Windows 10.

While you're there, uninstall these other two updates that have similar objectives: KB3035583 and KB2952664

    1. Control Panel, uninstall a program, view installed updates.

    2. WAIT a long time until you see the green bar at the top to make his trip

    3. In the search box, type KB3022345

    4. When it happens, uninstall it.

    5. Close the window

    6. Begin globe, all programs, Windows Update, check the updates.

    7. When he finally find KB3022345, right-click, choose hide.

    8. Rerun the SFC and you will find no problems

It has been widely discussed and publicized.

      http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-system/SFC-cannot-fix-corrupted-files-in-Windows-7/f798f377-126C-47ff-Bb16-ef5e0dddb5be

After that, restart SFC and you will not have corruption.

I want to format my laptop and reinstall windows 7 Home premium, but I don't have the windows cd. I already have the product key as it is written on the bottom of my laptop. You have this program installed on your laptop, which he describes on page 25? If you do, you should be able to do the restoration using the top option that restores the default values.

  • Reinstalling Windows Vista, but do not have the product key. How can I find?

    Install Vista on two machines
OK, so one of my friends has Ubunto Linux installed on their system and they want Windows Vista back. I said I would do and use my disks of Vista OS (16 in total).

Now, the fun is that it doesn't have the product key to its original copy of Vista so how I get it back?

It had Vista installed on it before Linux, however based on a virus that Vista should be completely removed and Linux has been installed as an operating system that is temporary until we find Vista once again, since I'm the one with the OS disk, then we re-install it.

So I'll be able to have my copy of Vista on two different computers?

ALSO: Vista came with the computer when he brought it but no recovery disk (as they did with XP) has been provided.

    Hello

1 No. you cannot use your product key on his computer and your computer: Installation is permitted with a license.

And if yours is preinstalled (OEM license), you could not even give it Vista and consider your computer off.

    2. you can't find the product key for the operating systems pre-installed when the product key on the sticker is missing or lost; read this Information:

The way around this is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send recovery discs to reinstall the operating system properly. They should send records for a small fee.

While they are in contact with the Manufaxcturer of the computer also ask them if there is a way to reinstall the operating system on a recovery partition on the hard drive of your laptop, allowing them to save money.

Either of these methods of recovery normally does not imply that you have to insert a product key as factory Setup key is automatically used to activate this process.

    See you soon.

Borrow an OEM Windows CD (it must be OEM) and install it using your product key. (You can make a copy of it for your future use - this isn't the CD you pay because it's the product key). A generic OEM CD maybe not some or all the drivers you need you would be safe to download from the website of the provider first.

    You can not;
If came preinstalled winxp either you should have a recovery cd or a hidden restore partition. Only PC manufacturer can provide a restore disc.
If you purchased a retail version of Windows XP, you must provide proof of purchase, i.e. a receipt until you receive a replacement disc
