  You need to understand what you installed that changed this action to Yahoo on a blank tab, which is the default action in Firefox; and then get rid of this add-on. Then you can install an add-on that allows you to select what you want in the new tab.

• 'Open with' pop up at startup and during the session asking what file to open CHKUPD with. CHKUPD has no extension. Search does not find it.

  My problem is similar to the question asked by EamonnO.  Start a 'open with' screen opens asking what file to open chkupd with.  I think that hit "Cancel" would put an end to the action.  He appears periodically during my session on the computer or watching a movie.  I don't find the file using search.  I don't think that this means Daemon Tools because I never downloaded the program.  Some recent downloads include "Free File Viewer" and "Search for free Extension".  I have Vipre AV and System Mechanic running on my computer.  The situation may be harmless, but it is sure agrivating.  Thanks for any help you offer.  George

  I had the same problem and there to remedy I just open the control panel and open then "Add / Remove programs.  The popup is apparently caused by a free File Viewer program.  I removed the program by clicking on the button Delete and the problem disappeared.  The free file viewer comes with a conversion program free .mp3 and seems to be completely unnecessary (I never needed the viewer of the file and open it with popup that was originally was boring and sometimes even nervewracking.)  If you do not have to uninstall programs of assistance, just the viewer of the file that comes as a free supplement program (problem).

  Once again, removal procedure: click on 'start '.
  Click on "Control Panel."
  Double click on "Add or remove programs".
  Click on "Free File Viewer" in the list of programs
  Click 'delete '.

  After this, the 'chkupd' open with popup when it stops appearing.

  This happens sometimes. Just start Lightroom 6 go to file-> open and then locate your Lightroom 5.7 catalog and choose to open it. Then 6 Lightroom will do the upgrade.

  I have this same problem. In Options-> general, I put to ' view my tabs, windows and the last time ", but it's not at all. Even with the 3 value 'true' preferences, I get no warning and only my homepage at the start of Firefox.

  ETA: Resolved - saving tab does not work if you have FF on clear history leaving, probably having to do with FF fixing of items from the history to the tab ID's off 'clear history leaving', tabs allow to save very well now.

• Trial version of Extended CS6 not asked!

  I just tried to open my CS6 licensed and kept getting a pop up that I had to connect to open my trial version of CS6 Extended that I had not asked!

  I'm chatting to Adobe and told to sign in which I did and my cat mysteriously session is over when I tried to get more information as to what this was all about. What seems to be my regular version of CS6 finally open, but I now have extended features!

  I do not need and do not want to upgrade if there is a cost that will be due when the trial is over.

  I was given no notice beforehand and no information about how long the trial is, and if my regular version of CS6 will come back if I do not wish to accept a charge for the "upgrade".

  I am now getting a pop message box when I open a document asking to choose either continue the trial - or put the licensed software. If I chose the license am I subject to a price or is it a free update?

  Can someone tell me what is happening... I'm confused

  OK - for anyone else knows this inexplicable phenomenon (and I use that Word lightly).

  First if you cannot open Photoshop at all and get continue with the trial dialog box... Click on continue. Then once you are able to open Photoshop, go to the drop down menu 'help' and search for licensing of this product, or if you get a POP - UP dialog asking to continue the trial or the product license, choose license and enter your original CS6 license registration # and the program, (should) come back to your original CS6.

  I found this purely by accident and experimentation.

  It is almost impossible to contact someone by phone at Adobe, and people to chat (outsourced in India), were a waste of time!

  I'm absolutely PISSED OFF at Adobe for pulling this small waterfall and wasting my time!

  I have the latest versions of CS6 and always kept with the updates via the Cloud Program Manager since they went from the former program manager!

  BTW: If you do not know your serial # go to the Adobe site sign in and look under your products purchased in your account information.

  I noticed that the problem happens when I type my research in space on the search page itself.  This search page looks a bit like a page from Google, but there no links etc than Google does.  Instead, he has "SearchTech" downstairs (with Contact, privacy and terms). If I type my research topic in the menu bar the results come back in Google.

  I confirmed that my favorite search engine is Google. Previously I ran LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons and removed three files to those who had been loaded on my computer today.  I checked the extensions are that there is not.
