  It depends on your version of Windows XP.  If it was preinstalled on your laptop, it is an OEM version and is only linked to this laptop.  If you have purchased an XP upgrade, the new Bureau should first of a previous version of Windows on it.  If you have purchased a full version, then you can install it with no problem and no previous operating system.

• Refomatted my computer laptop and reinstalled windows, something does not work now help please

  so, I recently wiped my drive hard clean for a fresh start, installed windows 7 but now some of the features that use to work no longer work. For instances when I press F1 and F2 buttons my brightness will not upwards or downwards, I can't lock the touchpad more then now the cursour jumps around.   Hello, I have been using Avira anti-virus on my computer for the past two years with no problems.  I run a scan on my computer every day and noticed problems with it a few days ago.  The analysis would be about 21% when he would stop scanning and freeze my computer.  The RAM would be also be maxed out at 100%, and I need to restart the computer manually.  When I ran the scan in safe mode, it worked fine, but then continued to not work when the computer is not in safe mode.  I would also get a security alert Windows telling me that Windows did not antivirus software on this computer.  I tried to do a system restore which goes back to the day before the problem started to happen with the scan, but I still have the same problem.  I tried to uninstall the program again, but I get the message: Setup could not determine feature control file, or was not able to read it properly the. I also received a message about CCPLG. XML. I don't know what to do at this point or what was wrong in the first place with my antivurus software, but I feel that I continue to do worse with everything I want to do about it.  If you can offer any help with this problem, it would be much appreciated.  I have to go to work now, so I'll check tomorrow and hope that someone decided to go back to me.  Thank you.

  Try the following.

  Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

  Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

  When windows has reloaded, use the Recovery Manager to reinstall your original IDT HD Audio driver as it is stated in the document at the link below.
