I wonder if more shared video memory will make my game to live better.

allright, I have a Core 2 Duo 2 ghz cpu, 3 GB of RAM DDR2, an Intel GMA 4500MHD (128 MB dedicated video memory) and 1.2 GB of video memory shared (you know, the kind that comes out of your total RAM and is SLOW). I play games (halo 2, call of duty), and I was wondering if the allowance, say 1.5 GB instead of 1.2 GB video memory shared could make a difference at all in my current games, or allow me to play more than memory video intensive games. Please answer if you know the answer to the question. If you don't know the answer, don't answer. Thank you for your time.

Intel has a good web page describing the shared video memory http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-029090.htm.  According to this page, the video card uses automatically more memory as needed until the maximum authorized.

  • How to adjust shared video memory - R10/R600 teacher of Win7 32-bit size

    Hello

I use two laptops in the business - R600 and R10. Both with Intel 4500 graphics card and shared video memory. Both win Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. In both cases the system of reserve 1 159 MB of video memory. As I do not play no matter what games, I don't need to lose an enormous amount of memory - I want to release as much as possible for the system and programs.

For the purposes of the trial, I installed Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Surprisingly, it holds only 199MB of video memory - it looks like the issue of the BONE.

Anyone know how I can reduce the size of the video memory under Windows 7 32 bit?

    Kind regards

As far as I know, this can be done manually and shared memory is controlled by the system.

If you n t use it for games I n t see any problem here. I put t know what kind of activity you do with your laptop, but I can't imagine there is not enough memory to each day's activities.

Is it not enough power for some operations or what?

    Hello.

The problem is that my video memory is low (128 MB). This laptop has a shared Intel GMA 4500 M video. How can I increase the size of the video memory? I can't find anything in the user manuals. I have the latest version of the driver for him... and I can't find where to increase its memory.

    Could you help me please?

    Thank you guys.

When the laptop has shared graphics memory card, that means the RAM will be used for graphic operations (borrowing of memory of RAM your system of graphics chip).
With RAM more available (upgrade of RAM), more memory will be available for graphics operations.

  • Satellite L30-134: how to change shared video memory?

    Hello

I have a laptop L30-134 with 512 MB of ram and 64 MB of video memory shared.

I can't change the virtual memory from 64 MB to 128 MB.
I reed some messages in this forum but I have no option in the Panel as "FrameBuffer" and the bios hase no option for the video display adapter, I tried to install the latest ati driver but ich time I get an error is not configuration / compatibil card whit say out.

How I change my card adapter video shared memory size?

    Thank you.
PS: sory for my bad English... :)

    Hello

Using the latest display driver (you can download it at toshiba), then you will have the option of frame buffer memory. The initially installed driver doesn't have this option. You will be able to use the memory of 128 MB for vga. If you put your L30 512 MB, you can use 256 MB of video memory. But I found no differences in the games between 128 MB and 256 MB.

  • Satellite L845D - how to increase shared video memory (AMD APU)

I have a 512 MB to 1 GB, but I have no option in the BIOS. In desktop APU systems, it is possible, since there is an option in the BIOS. Should I kind of updated, unlocked or BIOS 'hacked '?

    Thanks in advance

    BIOS hacked?
Forget buddy... don't even think about BIOS hacks... something like that (if possible) would be detrimental to your unit... certainly...

Shared memory cannot be increased manually... it is controlled by the graphics driver and especially depends on the main memory... in some cases, the shared memory will increase after RAM upgrade...

My question is the same as we can read on this url:

But the solution only works with windows xp, anyone know a driver version with which the 'frame buffer' tab is present?
The latest version of the driver is installed on my Satellite L30-105(catalyst 7.6), 128 MB are shared, but 32 will be enough for me.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I think the problem is that Vista graphic driver does not support this option.
The option described in the in the other thread was available in the argument XPOS.

But why would you change? On my L30 128 MB shared memory are activated, but the laptop uses only 64 MB if I put t run all applications performance.
The pilot controls the amount of shared memory automatically.

You can se under control panel-> display-> advanced settings
In the map tab, you can see total graphic memory available (in my case 128 MB) and system memory shared (64 MB)

By the way; I don't think that 32 MB graphics memory may be sufficient if you're running Vista

I want to increase the video memory on my laptop. He is currently 512 MB, but I have 8GB I should be able to increase this right?
I have 4096MB of total available graphics memory, video memory 512 MB dedicated video memory 0MB and 3584 MB shared memory system. I read that for you to increase it, you must go into the BIOS, but I see no option for this. I don't know if it's because I have 10 windows or what, but please help me.

    Hello

Yes, BUT you can't control it. Assign system / allocate RAM system AVAILABLE for the video until the limit max. In other Word: no, you can't increase/allocated video RAM.

    Kind regards.

  • How to increase the video memory shared on Portege M100

I have a Portege M100 and I would like to increase the shared video memory. In the technical documentation: 16-64MB shared video memory
I have 768 MB of RAM
but he can't do it in the Bios or Windows.
    where can I do it?

(I'm french, sorry for the bad English)

    Hello

As far as I know this laptop has an Intel graphics card.
for example on an ATI card graphics it is possible to set manually shared memory, but on an Intel shared memory graphics card will be determined automatically.
That's why you can't find any options to change this value.

  • Tecra M10 - 1 H 4 - change shared video RAM worth?

    Hello

I have a Tecra M10, with the standard 2 GB of RAM, I also added an extra 256 MB of available RAM slot. Can I change the value of RAM shared graphic? In the properties of XP Pro, I can see that it is fixed at 1024MB which is stupid because I only 2.25 GB in the machine.

I can't locate any settings even in the BIOS, where I thought I could change it. It's a mobile graphics chip Intel GMA 4500MHD. Any help is appreciated...

I also seem to get some horrible slow down on the laptop too, when I have about 10 different windows open, (be it the same application or different) when I switch to another window/application from time to time I have to wait for the laptop to redraw the new window very slowly?

I updated the driver too - claims I'm on: 6.14.10.4953

    See you soon

    TC

    Hey Buddy,

No, you can change the video memory value of t. Everything will be controlled automatically and there is no value in the BIOS or the display driver where you can change it.

Video RAM depends on the RAM you are using on your laptop. Increase system memory values for the available total graphics memory, decided video memory and shared system memory will be higher.

So, to get more video RAM upgrade your laptop with more system RAM.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hello!

What laptop Tecra you have exactly?

I think that you must reinstall WinDVD and Windows Media Player doesn t work again why don t have a codec package installed I think.
So, try to reinstall WinDVD and try another player like VLC media player. It can play a large number of audio and video files.

    Good luck!

    Good bye

    Hi Nedlm,

Remapping memory for graphics via the BIOS.

If the remapping of the BIOS feature is not available in the BIOS under configuration, which will then be a limitation. This means that it is set to Auto or to a certain amount.

You can check your device usingthis method

In this picture the system memory shared highlighted. This is the amount of shared memory in your RAM

  • Satellite L300-129 - how to increase the video memory (shared)

Yesterday I bought TOSHIBA Satellite L300-129

AND I WANT TO ASK SOMETHING:

I want to share some memory to improve the proceedings of VGA card.
I know that I need to do from the CONFIGURATION of the BACK but I can't and I need to improve my VGA card because the default is so so small... I want to give him some PART of MEMORY (RAM) SYSTEM

    PLEASE I NEED HELP

    THANK YOU GUYS;

    Hey Buddy

Unfortunately, I doubt that you can allocate a portion of system memory to video memory manually. AFAIK this sharing process is controlled by the driver for graphics card and all run automatically.

On the other hand the graphics card driver could assign more memory for video card if the system memory could be upgraded.
In other words the higher system RAM superior video RAM.

    Welcome them
