• iMac hard drive problem

  My older iMac 8.1 (Intel Core 2), running OS x 10.9 ran slow, then a few application icons disappears from the display, after a restart, the application has stopped working completely. I tried to reinstall OSX, when this does not work, I did a full erase and reinstall it again, still none of my apps does not work. It manifests itself, and when I click it, it does nothing. I even went back to my original OSX 10.6 Snow Leppard and reinstalled drive and my desktop icons appeared for a few minutes and then everthing disappeared. Also, this has happened during execution of 10.9 as well. Now the only thing that the computer be used to mail is electronic and Safari. I can't run programs and do not have access to HD. If I tried to re - install 10.9, it tells me that it is impossible at this time. I think that my HD is dead? You wanted to check before I replaced it. It starts well, can run internet but not impossible to install, download or run programs. Disk First aid indicates that the computer is fine. Can not really afford to buy a new Mac now, so hoping that this can be a cheaper alternative.

  How much free space on the hard drive?

  There is no 100% way to check the health of a hard disk. Disk utility check alone is doing a part-time job to check the directory structure but not physical integrity of the reader. If you select the top level of a drive in disk utility and then file > retrieves the information of to half way down you can see the report of the SMART State which can indicate if a drive is having problems.  With one of my discs that I checked that feature, but it was not picking up on several defective sectors systematically producing errors.

  The only real way to test a faulty hardware on a computer is to isolate the part (normally in the replacement, or do without it) and see if the issues go away.

  I always keep a clone bootable backup of my drive on a separate drive so I can still boot from the second disk to see if it's an internal drive error.  Having this type of backup is just a part of the ownership of a computer.

  I suppose there is also the possibility, it's another problem as the RAM.  A bad drive would be more consistent as to what elements show problems such as you see.

  You can check on sites like ifixit or OWC (macsales.com) for instructional videos on how to replace the disks.

• 5K iMac display driver problem crashing end of 2015

  I have a new end 2015 27 "5K iMac, CTO with the i7, Fusion of 3 TB drive and the M395X w / 4 GB of VRAM. I got the plug 8 GB of RAM but put 16 GB of RAM spec Apple Crucial in both. All are adapted. I have clean education installed windows 10 via bootcamp, I also used to divide the disc fusion in partitions of equal size. I had some problems initially with Bluetooth for the magic mouse and display and had to manually install the drivers for the two. In the case of Bluetooth several times. By a very large extent, it was worth the most I got with an installation of bootcamp since the first version as issued. I don't know if it's windows or apple it was a mess of God awful things installed partially or not at all.

  In any case, I got things set to the point where the system seemed stable and decided to start running some games through steam. This is when I started to have a great many problems with the system. More specifically, when I play games on steam I frequently either crash to the desktop or system chokes and throws me back to the default windows display drivers. I say this because I can't see the error appearing frequently in the observer of events just before these accidents is "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Usually, I have two error messages in a line in the newspaper timed just before the accident happens so I am sure that the pilot does not successfully and two kicks me back to the default windows display driver and the locking system until I quit the game via the Task Manager or comes crashing down on the desk. According to the event viewer, I had 20 warning messages (event ID 4101) in the last nine days (yes I play a lot for a 50 year old man).

  Seriously, what gives apple? I drop to $3K on a machine and I can't even enjoy a game that this card should be more capable of running at a decent resolution (Fallout 4) because the drivers suck. AMD released the bootcamp drivers on September 21 last year. They claim they have the latest drivers available (and their latest stable version for systems non-bootcamp is December 15 last year, after having released only 12 days ago the beta drivers) for bootcamp, but you guys are sitting on them because you certify drivers. So, yet again, what gives? Can we get the drivers, we need to use the systems we paid a premium for it please?

  If you want to try non-Apple certified drivers, you can test with WHQL drivers, or try and BCA allows you to download the latest available package and check the version of the drivers available vs installed. AMD GPU are bad when they are in the Mac running Windows. This does not happen on OS X side.

  There are number of threads about the drivers for the AMD GPU and a lot of experimentation within the CSA for Windows drivers.

  When you try to print a document with more than 1 page of iMac to my Photosmart 5520 the first printed page (which is the last page) is fine. But all other pages are missing the 2 thirds of the page.

  I went to the office of support and the Member of staff updated the driver on my computer but the problem persists.

  First of all, thank you very much to go to all this trouble - I certainly appreciate it. Second apology for taking so much time to go throughit all.

  I spent a lot of time this morning, do everything that you said. Most of the files you said delete or move were not on the hard disk, but I dutifully followed each step if possible.

  However, the end result is that the Mac printer is always the same. In other words, print the last page, first completely and then disappeared off the coast much of the top of each page.

  In fact, it must be set to print without margins. So I think I solved the problem

  For a long time Mac user in time! The Macintosh Plus 1986 to new owner of an iMac 27 "i7. I had a number of different Mac.

  Why my iMac can operate at a reasonable temperature? They are aways running with all the programs that are all turned off. CPU/120% activity monitor / MDS_stores operating at 90 c or more. Of course I can get it fix for restart, but the question is what continues? If anyone has a fix for this please let me know

  Overview > help instructions to create a signature with built-in camera:

  1. Your computer create a signature using the camera's built-in: Click on the camera. Hold your signature (on paper) in front of the camera so your signature is at the level of the blue line in the window. When your signature appears in the window, click done.   If your device works (check in Photo Booth or other applications of the activated camera), you have probably not are you your book signing white still in front of the camera for a long enough time to make your signature "appear" in the window.  When you put the paper to the top, you can see your signature on the paper.  However, when you move it closes and hold again and level with the blue line for several seconds, he 'appears' as one another, new, clear and magnified view of your signature.  You can then move the paper and click on the 'Finished' button to capture the image of the signature.

• Problem install iDVD 9 on iMac?

  I try to install iDVD 9 on my retina 5 K, 27-inch iMac, the end of 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), MacPro Dual-Core, clocked at 2.66 GHz.  I get a message saying warning: iDVD 9 is incompatible with OS X and it could damage the iMac should I continue

  with the installation.  I find it very strange because I installed iDVD 9 on my MacBook Pro without any problem using the:.  Installing MacBook Pro iDVD 9 included all the old themes as well

  as the 7.1.2 update from Apple Downloads.  Would appreciate it really any advice on how I could get the iMac to allow

  I am iDVD 7.1.2 running on my iMac 2011 without problem.  The place where you want to install to and you can post a screenshot of the message you get when you try to install it.

  A solution would be to use the demo version of transmission to install iDVD and themes, especially if you are trying to install from a disk of iLife 09 or 11.

  

• Problems with the compatibility of Lightroom 6CC and ElCapitan on older iMacs

  When I upgraded to ElCapitan, Lightroom CC seems to continue to work without problem.  Then I did the first update and since then, I have not been able to use development module in the program.  I posted these problems on the Lightroom forums (see link below), but it is clearly an Apple problem, is not a problem of Lightroom. Lightroom people think it's the graphics processor in the older iMac which poses problem, but as I said above, it happened on the first update, not on the initial installation.  There is now another update on hold, and I fear that other programs will no longer work.  Apple made contact with Lightroom on those very real inconsistencies and what is their consensus?  This is a serious problem for a person using an older iMac and photo editing using Adoble products.  For a fuller discussion, please see the link below for the Lightroom Forum (information was also posted on the Forum from Adobe).

  FWIW, iMac 24 "early 2009 may have at least 512 KB of VRAM (typical models

  only had 256 K).  The specification of Lightroom CC, minimum is 1 GB of VRAM.

  Operation on this machine was borderline at best and probably just lucky it worked at all.

  In addition, a huge impact on the works of Lightroom is the amount of RAM installed.  With

  El Capitan installed, try to run Lightroom CC with anything less than 8 GB will be

  issue (despite what can say Adobe).

• Using Norton AntiVirus with the iMac

  For years I used Norton AntiVirus on my iMac with no problems that I know.  Recently, a novice iMac user was informed by a person from a person of type Geek Squad remove Norton AntiVirus from his Mac immediately because it destroys all of Apple security that protects us.  Is there any truth to this?

  Norton AV is NOT recommended for any Mac. Norton has a long sordid history of manufacturing OS X unstable and creates more problems than it solves. OS X is extremely secure and doesn't require any AV, cleaning or other third-party applications 'maintenance' to function well. So simply kept up to date OS X in most cases will run without problem for years. I HIGHLY recommend that you uninstall Norton by following instructions to uninstall Norton!

• iMac mid-2011, 2.5 GH, el Capitan

  My iMac has a problem.  Here's what he does and what I tried:

  • At the start, I can connect and then it freezes,
  • In Safe Mode, I can connect and it freezes
  • In the restoration (R command), I get the choice to use Time Machine, reinstall Lion and the other two... but I can choose only one, then when I click on this option from the screen freezes again.
  • (Before this show, I tried to reinstall Lion using the restore feature but when it took it to the Apple Store it says that Lion was no longer available.  That's why I bought 10.7 Lion on a USB... I had not used before trying to solve this problem today).
  • If I use Option and choose my start... 1 Mac hard drive crashes, 2) I 10.7 Lion on a USB key and if I try to start so that it freezes, 3) I backup on Time Machine and the boot and freezes.
  • I have reset the NVRAM (Cmd + Opt + P + R)
  • Reset the SMC
  • I have recently installed a power and an SSD using OWC, had no problems for about a month.
  • I tried another keyboard and mouse, normally I use bluetooth.

  A good starting point is to replace the RAM. A faulty memory can often be the cause of all just random freezes. A defective boot disc could be the cause. If you have replaced the boot disk then make sure you partition and format the new drive before installing OS X.

  My iMac turns off 10 seconds after the start to the top. I tried repair disk running, to no avail. What is happening is because my boot drive is full, off the 500 GB I partitioned in mac, 493,63 GB is taken up. I bought a thunderbolt cable to access the TOC on my mac book, and I have access to my files now. The problem is that I can only copy files. Authorities say I read and write permissions. When I start my host computer, it says "you can still open or copy the files on the disk, but you cannot save changes to the files on the disc. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can. "I'm trying to copy all my files on this computer and remove what I don't want copies, then reinstall OSX on my iMac. The problem is that some files are native to all OSX, so it would prevent me from copying the files. For example, if I want to copy my applications folder, it stops to copy once it reached the app store, because it cannot copy that. It is a problem because when it comes to the library, there are small files in there that I don't know if I can copy, then it stops at the copy and I end up with half of my files and I don't know what I need and what I have.

  Everything you need to copy the disk, then start the iMac in recovery (command-R) mode. Wipe the drive and reinstall OS X from the recovery console.
