ICloud and photos app

Is it possible to download Photos?  I lost it long ago from my Mac Book pro and now I can't see my pictures when I log on my laptop my iCloud

Thank you

Photos for Mac is installed as part of Mac OS X.  You can not download separately. If you reinstall your system, it will be reinstalled. Reinstall everything pictures of your purchase history on the Mac AppSTore and pictures will be back.

I lost it long ago from my Mac Book pro

Are you really asking on Photos for Mac or iPhoto? Photos for Mac is about a year and because it is installed under the system it is difficult to remove from your you, so it's a little curious, if you lost pictures a long time ago.

First, I copied my photo library on a disk (that has been synchronized with my iCloud account).

Then, I just did a clean Sierra install for my MacBook.

After that find my photo library with App Photos.

    And open iCloud photo library.

Photos app started to redownload all the same pictures to my mac book.

    So I duplicated photos now.

How can I stop it duplication?

    (I have 13 000 photos close to 50 GB)

The only one I know is through a third-party application.

There are a few duplicate programs that are tested as safe with Photos, including PowerPhotos, PhotoSweeper for the pictures and Duplicate Annihilator for Photos - do not use a tested and documented as safe.

  • Question about the photo (using the folders and Photos app)

    Hello

I am new on the app Photos - aperture used briefly but never really liked. I used to manage/sort all my photos with simple folders on the hard drive. Now, I would like to move the direction of the Photos app.

    A few questions:

1.) if I add images, are they duplicated on my hard drive when I import them from Photos?

2.) how to delete images permanently? I need to do a cleanup, which is easier in the Photos. If I delete the images here (and also delete the "recently deleted" album), why they remain in their original on my hard drive folder?

Any help is appreciated - thanks!

1 - Yes by default which is highly recommended, as was the case with iPhoto you then delete the photo source since it is safe in the library

2 - pictures works just like iPhoto - nothing outside the library is not affected by what you do in the application - see 1

  • iPhoto and photo apps, put photos in files?

I recently bought a 2014 refurbished MacBook Pro and found that the iPhoto update is not available to the Canada and was not long rendered unusable app. All my photos have, therefore, to be added to the normal photos app. In the photos app, I have not been able to find a way to put my photos in files without putting them in two different places. Has anyone found a way to put their photos in folders without doing that? And putting pictures in two separate locations takes extra space on the computer? I have over 1000 pictures on my computer and really want them to be in the files so that they are easy to manage, but I don't want to take more space on my computer. I just switched to Mac, a Windows system and it's the only thing that I find I miss on windows and don't like Mac computers.

    several things

update to iPhoto information see can't update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

Yes, if you have two photos places (in the library of Photos and outside it) you will be double used space

Photos can use a referenced library, but it is a very bad idea, there is no advantage and accumulated several problems for the future - and is not recommended

Probably the answer for you is to use different software that works the way you want - Photos is a modern database manager that uses the non-destructive editing and cannot be used with your wishes of a destructive file based editing system - you can change the software or change your workflow to modern methods

One of the rules of life is that people don't like the things that they do not understand - so either change and use something you understand or learn the new system if you do not understand it or you will continue to be unhappy

  • Photos from iphoto imported disc ext new imac then lost new photos and photos app

Imported photos iphoto to ext drive to the new imac then lost new photos that were stored in the new «Photos for Mac»

All those Iphoto original is in my new mac now, but still using the format "iphoto". ...  Found the most recent that I had stored in the new format 'Photos for Mac' in icloud but can no longer run the new format or retrieve photos from icloud on the imac?  I'm confused... I obviously missed a few steps.  Be nice... I'm old!

iPhoto Photos are two different applications and they use different libraries.

So I understand you correctly: you have applications and different photos in two libraries?

    Missing also photographs?

I have more 7 000 photos on my iPhone.  Can I delete photos from my iPhone, but keep them in Photos on my MacBook Pro if iCloud is turned on?  I want to save these pictures I just do not want it taking up space on my iPhone.

I'm in a similar situation. I have over 10 k photos in my library, and I use the storage optimized in iCloud library option to allow me to have access to view my complete library without having to ingest my storage. This isn't an archival, though, so, if you remove photos or videos that are managed by it on your Mac or your iPhone, they will be deleted on your devices even your Contacts would be.

Alternatively, you can import the old fashioned way and delete what you no longer want to keep on your iPhone after the fact.

  • duplicates of iCloud and photo library

Aloha! I activated iCloud only found out I have duplicates (X 4) of most of the images. Is there a way to remove duplicates and more go frame by frame? Mahalo!

Where are you seeing duplicates?  In your library of Photos on your Mac?  What part of iCloud have you activated: iCloud drive or the library to iCloud?

If you don't see duplicated in the library of Photos these applications will identify and help remove the pictures in double a library of Photos:

PowerPhotos is the version of iPhoto Library Manager for Photos and very powerful. Although more expensive that I recommend it because it has more capabilities than others like the ability to merge libraries of Photos or copy photos and their metadata between libraries.

  • Is iCloud photo library space use doubled if I use Photos and iPhoto apps?

IPhotos and Photos apps right now: If an image appears at the same time it

be transferred twice (with the help of double the amount of space) in iCloud storage space?

IPhotos and Photos apps right now: If an image appears at the same time it

be transferred twice (with the help of double the amount of space) in iCloud storage space?

No, you can not use iCloud with iPhoto and Photos at the same time on the same computer.  Photo library only at a time can synchronize with iCloud (My Photo Stream, shared Albums, iCloud, library).  If you enable iCloud for a Photo library, it will be disabled for the previous library.

Sine you use Yosemite - in the first versions of Yosemite was a problem, and it was possible to activate my photo stream in iPhoto and iCloud library in Photos at the same time. But my photo stream does not count against your iCloud free storage, that is used for library iCloud, there is no overlap in iCloud photo library.

  • deleted photos, always playing on live tiles for photo and camera app

HY, I recently bought a laptop vaio which is preloaded with windows 8 since I am new to windows 8, I'm having a problem with live tile of camera and photo app. I clicked on a few photos of the camera of my laptop and when I removed them from the photo app they were always playing on the live tile of the application but when I open the application there is no picture at all...  I met the same problem even with my windows phone(lumia_525).can someone help me why this is happening as I'm afraid if it's a bug or other type of problem.

It just need time, the tile updates only on a set timer (to save battery power and performance).

I think that you can force it to update by going to the start screen, striking to swipe from right (or pointing to the right), then by going to settings > tiles > erase personal information.

  • The use of two accounts different iCloud with Photos

How can I use two accounts different iCloud with Photos of Yosemite OSX? For example... My wife and I have iPhones with iCloud different accounts and share a MacBook Pro, which use us her iCloud account. We want to be able to use the photo stream to upload our photos on our iPhones to the Photos on the MacBook Pro app. Thank you.

I don't think there is a way to link the two accounts iCloud in photos.app library.

However, my partner and I are in the same situation as you and your spouse: two phones, a MacBook Pro (MBP) and the need to share the photos with others and to optimize the space of our digital camera shots.

In short, we use the following:

-Two Photos.app libraries; one on each user profile

-Two photos of iCloud albums; one for each phone (each of download us the best of our photos of the iPhone) shared with the other

-A system of photo files referenced on an external hard drive for our digital camera

-An album to iCloud for digital camera (again, for the best DSLR shots) shared with each other

With this configuration, we can display each other best shots on all Apple devices through the iCloud sharing feature, and you can see all of our DSLR photos without cluttering the internal SSD.  This system is also convenient when you backup using time machine (configured to capture the MBP and external hard drive), because only one instance of the photo should be saved.

My only complaint is that files referenced photo can not be uploaded to iCloud photo library a user directly, even if the referenced files will be shown along the iPhone photos side in the Photos.app (hence the need for a DSLR iCloud photo album).

  • Sierra and photos?

I use iPhoto and Photos app to keep my photos. How will affect Sierra these applications?

You'll have to wait until the Sierra was released because it is still in beta and subject to change. What I can tell you (from comment around the internet), is that the Photos are updated in the Sierra and iPhoto remains the same. But wait a day or two after that that it is released and see notes on the final version before the update - and of course make a backup.

  • How delete/mark Audio and Photos?

    Hello

I just got my new MacBook Pro MF 839 model, I'm new to Mac. I see in the details of storage that my space is being neutralized by the Audio (1.67 GB) and Photos (909.7 MB). Please see screenshot for more details.

I want to know that where these files are and how I delete these files, because I unchecked option iCloud and photos in iCloud defining (screenshot attached).

I checked my local music and pictures folders, nothing is there, so confused em where these files are and how can I make this clear. I'm worried because I have 128 GB of total storage.

    Please guide me.

All that files get users-> folder (aka your "home" directory).

There are folders for music, photos and documents - surprisingly just like in Windows and all the other OS on the planet :-)

Navigate to these folders and start watching. You will learn a lot. 2 GB of things is essentially nothing.

I would like to by a good book on using Mac OS: these are quite fundamental skills for any computer.

  • Photos.app: library is damaged... Move it to the trash

I just moved library of Aperture/iPhoto to Photos.app daughter so that she could use his iPhone for its library of triage. I'm on Yosemite.

After the conversion I'm done with two regular libraries, opening and Photos.app. Photos of open and closed well. If I tried to start by clicking on the library, although I got a horrible error message. Something like "library is corrupted" and "must be placed in the trash". No sign of hope.

It was a bug of course. The library was very good. Inspection of the 'failure' app was Photos.app, but the soft launch was in fact iPhoto. The error, however, came from Photos.app.

Therefore iPhoto has attempted to open the library, could not (of course), but Photos.app showed the error message.

Yes, it's messy. It looks like some sort of bug, launchservices. I used the context menu to say to Yosemite to always open in Photos.app. Error solved.

Interestingly, I got the same message of horror when I tried to open a library migrated using opening. Yet once the fix was to circumvent the procedure of opening the usual file and choose open with, then go to the app. I will try to rebuild my launch base.

  • Photos.app didn't rename my converted iPhoto library. Is this ok?

Hi, I upgraded to El Capitan and Photos.app ran for the first time.  He converted all 660 GB of our iPhoto/Aperture on its new format library and created the "Library.photoslibrary Photos" bundle in the images folder.

However, I noticed she did not rename the iPhoto library.  Of after what I've read, it should he have named 'iPhoto Library.migratedphotolibrary', but there are always like "iPhoto Library.photolibrary '.  Is this something to worry about?  All the photos * appear * to be in the photo library, so there is nothing obvious to indicate that the conversion has failed somehow.

    Any suggestions?  Thank you!

    Ah, I solved my problem.

If, after the conversion of Photos, you then launch iPhoto or Aperture, renamed it the '.migratedphotolibrary' to '.photolibrary '.

  • photos of iCloud in Photos and camera app

Since coming to iOS X and Sierra when the photos are downloaded from Photos on the cloud, they appear on my phone in pictures as well as my photo app. If I delete my photo app, they disappear from the Photos app as well. I had never planned on camera as being a place of storage for all my photos. One is enough. Any help solving this would be appreciated
