iCloud Photos showing excessive use of storage

Product sheet:

9.3.5 IOS on iPhone 5 s.

Problem:

My photo library iCloud says:

"You have 0 photos and 0 videos stored in iCloud. Your photos and videos using 2.1 GB. »

I have 0 photos in my album "recently deleted".

I want to release this 2.1 GB.

Did not help desk:

I tried to disable iCloud photo library, restart my phone and reactivate iCloud photo library of time settings 'storage iCloud' and 'Photos & camera '. This has not fixed the problem.

Additional information:

I have 'My Photo Stream' active and I use iCloud on Windows 10.

I had the same problem and did the option 'Disable and remove' even though I know that it takes 30 days.  I've seen other people on these forums, mention that they had results if/when they took contact with Apple Support.

I had the same problem and it has chewed all my disk space. I have a 64-bit Windows 10 - disk 250 gig. I deleted all these files except those with current date and released the 150 gig. Much better to delete these temporary files to risking a crash operating system running out of disk space.

  • Is iCloud photo library space use doubled if I use Photos and iPhoto apps?

No, you can not use iCloud with iPhoto and Photos at the same time on the same computer.  Photo library only at a time can synchronize with iCloud (My Photo Stream, shared Albums, iCloud, library).  If you enable iCloud for a Photo library, it will be disabled for the previous library.

Sine you use Yosemite - in the first versions of Yosemite was a problem, and it was possible to activate my photo stream in iPhoto and iCloud library in Photos at the same time. But my photo stream does not count against your iCloud free storage, that is used for library iCloud, there is no overlap in iCloud photo library.

  • ICloud Photos, Shared folder using for the screensavers on Apple TV

On my new Apple TV, I want to use Photos in iCloud to provide pictures randomly a shared folder as screensavers. When I put in place (following the instructions of the manual) the program apparently caught a selection random, relatively small images of the record (20-30?) and just cycled through these photos as screensavers. The product does not seem to choose from all of the shared folder and does not seem to offer a way to even go back and get another small selection of the folder to provide variety. I can apparently use home sharing and get the new selections in the period and re - select the folder (I could do with my old generation of Apple TV), but it is not apparently possible with the iCloud Photos, shared folder option. It also takes me to have my computer and open iTunes. I had hoped to get around this with the new Apple TV.

    Apple support had no answers.

Is there something that I am missing?

Need not do anything. You can suggest improvements here https://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html.

  • iCloud-photo library: only use it as backup?

I finally got serious about my photo library to backup to the cloud. Because I have Apple products, it seems that iCloud photo library would make the most sense. And with the recent drop in prices, it is now affordable.

But here's what I can't determine after reading articles: I don't really have interest in what my library that is available to me through devices. My interest in iCloud is simply as a back-up for my photos, in case my house burns down. Can I then turn on iCloud photo library for Photos on my Mac, but leave it for my iPhone and iPad? My concern is that even an optimized thumbnail for almost 15 years of images would take too much memory on my mobile. I'd rather keep manually import the photos that I take on my iPhone for pictures with sync and let the pics to save them from there.

    Who is?

And the video also back - up iCloud photo library, right?

Yes, you can turn on or off on a per-device basis, and Yes, it synchronizes videos.

  • If I use iCloud photo, why iPad uses 10 times more space than my iphone

I optimize selected storage to iPhone/iPad, using photos from iCloud, and my iPad Pro uses 55 g of storage then my iPhone 6 + uses only 5.8 g

Optimize is a dynamic process and does not follow a specific formula.

It is designed to provide 'optimized for device' size photos, then your iPhone and iPad needs would be different only on this basis. It is also based on the space available, once again, that would make the files different on each device depends on available storage at any time.

  • iCloud Photo Library used Incorrect storage

    Hi all

I have the following problem with iCloud storage of photo library:

So before you save a 10 Min video I used 1.5 GB on iCloud storage. I recorded the video and takes 3 pictures, I uploaded the video to Youtube and deleted photos and recently deleted, I Wen to iCloud photo library and now I had 3.8 GB used but the video isn't there only 3 pictures, does anyone know how to recover this space?

You said that you have downloaded the video on YouTube.  Why the video would be in iCloud if you do download in iCloud?  I understand you correctly?

  • Why so much photo shows on iPhone if I iCloud?

I shows that I have more than 17 GB of photos on my iPhone.  Why do I have so much storage taken up so I use iCloud photo library and I also have optimize enabled on my iPhone?

Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.

  • Removed all icloud photo library, 1.9 GB still in use

I deleted all of my photo, My Photo Stream etc. flows including shared library iCloud.

I have also ensured that the recently deleted album is empty. I disabled iCloud photo library on each device. It should not be a trace of left.

However, I always told my library back 1.9 GB of my storage iCloud. There is an option to turn it off completely but it will take 30 days, which is a long wait when I don't know if it will work.

Any ideas that he could be taking all this space? Or if there is a way to reset all empty without waiting for 30 days?

I use the latest version of iOS on my iPad and the iPhone, and the El Capitan on my Mac if that helps.

Have you tried to log in to your iCloud account, then sign in again?

  • Should I Photostream if I use iCloud photo library

Hi, I use iCloud library on my MBP, two iPhones and iPad and I still active Photostream.

I'll try to find our knowledge if I need Photostream as well as use iCloud.  I have more than enough storage for the moment in the cloud then from what I can tell Photostream is not something that would fail me if I turned it off.  At the same time, I can't find a definitive answer anywhere!

Grateful that if ever I decide to stop using the cloud, I can turn Photostream for my last few thousand photos.

I also try to work if there is anyway that I can reduce the amount of space on my iPhone which currently takes about 13 GB of photo library.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thank you

    Matt

If you do not use my Photo Stream, turn off all devices.

You need my photo only, stream if you also use older devices with iOS 7 or more, which can not support iCloud photo library. But if all your devices are set to synchronize with iCloud photo library, you don't need my photo stream. It might even cause problems.

  • If I use iCloud photo library to share photos on my Mac, make the stay of the files full original size on my Mac or they stored in the cloud?

If I use iCloud photo library to share photos on my Mac, make the stay of the files full original size on my Mac or they stored in the cloud?

    Thank you!

The photos full size will always go to the cloud. They also remain on (or download) your Mac depends on if 'Download this Mac originals' or 'Optimize Mac storage' is ticked in Photos > Preferences > iCloud. If it is enabled, it also depends on how much storage is available on your Mac.

  • ICloud photo storage

    Hello

I will be backpacking for a month or two and probably will not have enough room on my phone to store all of the photos I take. I intend to upload them to iClould whenever I had the chance to connect to the Internet. I would ask if I wanted to delete the photos on my photo automatically deletes the photos on iCloud (I don't want it)?

    Thank you.

With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)

Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. It seems you want to use iCloud photo library as an archive of photos. It was not intended for this use.

iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple Support

It is designed to allow you to have full access to your library without having to choose which photos and videos you store on which devices because it connects to your library using iCloud to all your devices, you registered this service. You can choose the option to Optimize Storage iPhone, which will automatically replace your photos in full resolution with optimized for your phone free storage.  Such use allows to my 64 GB iPhone store more 18 000 photos and 877 videos with fast access on my iPhone and elsewhere, while occupying only 4.8 GB on my physical device. The library full resolution resumes of more than 112 GB of storage which I can access in iCloud.com, on my computer, or by requesting the download of contents of high resolution on my iPhone with that I will make.

Otherwise, if this does not work for you, you can use other services, such as Dropbox, archive your library, so you can completely remove the photos from your iPhone. If you deleted pictures from your iPhone now, they would delete the iCloud photo library so that he be kept in sync as your Contacts or Notes.
