Icon on the Windows 7 Desktop links disappear

Because the Office keeps losing my links, I created a folder on my USB hard drive that contains my links from the office, so I can refresh more quickly once they'll miss (copy in my office).

Many times I come to the machine and the icons that point to objects on my USB hard drive are missing.

The other icons are fine.

It seems that the USB HD goes to sleep, some process refreshes the office, the target of the link Office seems to be missing, links are deleted.

1. This would be happening?

2. is there a fix.

3. any reason why he does Saturday night. Every Sunday morning half of the Office links disappeared.

This is a known issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978980/en-us

I reported the problem internally at Microsoft because most of the people do not want the system to remove the shortcuts to the Office on its own.

  • Move the icons on the Windows 7 Desktop

When I used to move icons on the desktop in Windows XP, there is a picture of the shadow of the icon and title following my mouse pointer. This allowed me to know exactly where the icon would be when I released the mouse button. Now all I get in Windows 7 is the pointer of the mouse and a little black dotted rectangle attached to it that moves with him. The only time I see where the actual icon will meet is when I release the mouse button, and it seems to be unpredictable as to exactly where it is. Can someone tell me how to restore the previous behavior, where I can see a shadow of the icon to move with the mouse cursor?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I saw on some desktop computers, people have black or blue icons. How can I do?

    Hello

You must use the third-party application to get black and blue icons. You can use your favorite search engine to find the third-party software that supports this feature.

  • Remove the Windows 7 Desktop icon shadows

How can I remove the shades of the Windows 7 Desktop icon? Whenever I place the cursor on one of the icons that square shadow appears behind her.

I tried just abut everything to stop these shadows to appear.

    Thank you

The solution to remove the shadows of the desktop icon is to show the performance Options screen and remove the control of the last listed issue "use Visual styles on windows and buttons" then click on apply and then OK. This will change the global settings for Custom.

However, there are some side effects of the use of this option that removes the shadows of the icon on the desktop. It changes your taskbar to style XP Taskbar and change also a custom icon, menus, and other advanced to default appearance settings. All the settings you have previously changed must be reaccomplished.

When you open Internet Explorer, it looks great in color etc that he did with XP which is now easier to read that Win 7, I feel. Each person will have to just play with the advanced appearance settings and select the ones they like best.

So far, I'm very happy with the settings I have now and also do not have the shadow of the icon on the desktop.

  • Items on the Windows 7 Desktop continue to go to the LEFT even if THE REORGANIZATION is OFF?

The icons/folders/files on the desktop computer are sent to the LEFT SIDE of my MAIN SCREEN even if automatic reorganization is disabled.  Windows 7 to remember the position of the icons when I leave them there for a long time before restart (as if Windows running analysis of your desktop) but will forget if I move icons and restart shortly after.  Worse, it is even when he remembers the position of the icons, if I open a file and then save it, it will automatically move this icon to left - VERY BORING.  After looking online, it seems, that it is a bug that has been neglected and ignored by MICROSOFT.  WTF?  ALL THE 'DECENT' SOLUTIONS OUT THERE?

    Hello

    Follow the steps.

    Step 1:

    1. right-click on the desktop.

    2. choose "Customize".

    3. on the left side of the Control Panel, click on "change desktop icons".

    4. uncheck the "allow themes to change desktop icons".

  • Duplication of Firefox icons on the Windows 7 taskbar

Citing the Forum Windows 7: http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/256708-duplicating-icons-taskbar.html

    Hello

I searched high and low for a way to do this, but I can't seem to find anything. First of all, I don't want to install or download any program whatsoever. I want to do with what I have, aka Windows 7.

Let's say I have 2 or more profiles Firefox. I want to open them in separate windows. This is done easily with - no.-remote, correct? Well, if I want to open them in two different icons on the taskbar?

Currently, I open both profiles, but they will be grouped in the Firefox icon. I don't want them be grouped. I could customize my taskbar and choose something other than "always combine, skin tags. Unfortunately, I don't want labels. And I want every other icon to combine. It's only the different profiles in Firefox I want to separate.

    Is this possible?

    Moderator sets the broken URL

You can try to do a copy renamed only the firefox.exe file in the current Firefox program folder to see if it works.

If this does not work, you can try to copy the whole Firefox program folder to another folder (Mozilla Firefox2) to see if that works (may as well fail because the firefox2.exe program will still report as the same application in the Windows OS) and firefox.exe program is only a draft that checks if other Firefox programs are already running without a - no.-remote switch and load the real application if necessary.
