IdeaPad G510 Fn F1 - F12 swap?

Hello, there is no section for the G series (I don't understand why) so I would ask here:
How can I share the feature of the F1 - F12 buttons with the Fn functions? I don't want to press Fn + [volume mute] every time I want to hit F1 etc. I read somewhere that there is an option that this past in the BIOS, but it is worth only for other series of Lenovo and not mine (I checked and the option is not there).

Y at - it / will there be a solution for this or have I made a mistake in choosing the laptop and he hates Lenovo forever? :/

  • IdeaPad y460p - swap bios CTRL and FN keys

    Hi all

I saw messages for other lenovo systems that allow to swap the mapping of the FN keys and keys CTRL at the bottom left of the keyboard.

Anyone know if this update is available / under development? It would help a lot because my work laptop has the CTRL down left and its scaring me (and slow me down).

    Thanks in advance!

    Mark

as you can see here, it is available for y460 (may not be suitable for y460p) but it is not official and if you treat the operation, your motherboard may be dead and because it is not official patch, the warranty covers the damage.

and I don't think that lenovo will release an official patch to swap keys.

  • Compatibility of SSDS on IdeaPad laptops

    Hello

There are a few posts on the SSD, but none that has answered my question and proposed general guidelines. That is why this thread.

    1.)

How determine if their laptop model is compatible with a particular SSD?

    2.)

I have an Ideapad y560p and I want to know if Intel 530 series 250 GB 2.5 inch ssdl or kingston hyperX 3K 240 sata iii SSD will be compatible with my laptop before I actually go ahead a buy a!

I asked the support of lenovo and they said y560p are not compatible with any SSD either, but I know that to some have swapped their drive hard y560p for SSD.

Thanks for your answer in advance!

    The best

    YOG

The best way to choose an SSD is to choose by yourself with a bit of reading the situation on the evolution of the SSD market all the time with new controllers, new memory chips and so on. You must enter some comments and comparisons of recent SSDS and choose what suits your taste and your wallet best. Note, that in normal use you won't see much difference between most SSDS modern (except of course by markers). Even my 250GB 2.5 "TLC Samsung 840, which certainly isn't top-spec, is speed of light compared to any disk including SSHD.

As long as the drive you look at is size 2.5 "SATA connector, it will work. There are other things that you should consider what your laptop SATA revision supports and does support features like AHCI, NCQ, TRIM, but it will affect not the ability to use it. It will affect the speed and reliability of your SSD.

In addition, your laptop is Sandy Bridge, is certainly not old. I used SSD on a laptop of 2006 with Merom C2D. You shouldn't have any problems running any modern SSDs, including 240 GB Crucial or Kingston.

What I recommend is that you choose one that is reliable. As I said before you will be carried away by the speed everything that you choose. However, you will regret your decision, when your player will stop after a few months without apparent reason. It's the brand, duration of security and reputation comes in. I'm not walked SSD recently, but I don't think that Kingston is considered such a brand.

  • IdeaPad P500 settles not (none) Windows 7 drivers

    Hello

I just updated my ideapad p500 to an SSD and installed windows 7. I got the installation to work, from bios to legacy and can boot into windows, but I can't install the drivers. I am trying to install all the drivers are direct on the Lenovo site listed under Windows 7 for the P500.

I can't install the drivers, except maybe the ones chipset.

When I run a pilot, he often proclaims "the following file is already on your computer" even if this is a new installation, and when I navigate to the location it says (C:\Drivers) will not be that whatever it be listed until I click on it.

Ethernet runes that via claims then 'FichierFichier failed '. Then new Version of the unknown driver in a second box that opens.

When I try to install the mouse driver (touchpad), I get a message saying "access denied" and that it does not support this touchpad.

I also have the same as most of the other video card driver (minimum brightness all the time, can not change it) issue except that I don't have a previous version of the driver to return to. Where can I get a working version?

Many riders will get a windows message saying "could not have installed correctly", but a new attempt does not work. I went to Device Manager and choose a specific folder for the driver (even just put a .exe in a single folder), but the device manager says that it cannot find the drivers.

Now I'm hung up on a black background with a white logo of Lenovo starting for 5 minutes + (I have an SSD...). I would try a different HARD drive, but the process of switching them is miserable (remove the keyboard, optical drive and cover back together (which must be pried off) to swap a HARD drive?) Come on.

How can I solve this problem? The computer worked fine with Windows8, but I want to run windows 7 on my SSD instead. There are drivers available, but none of them does not seem to work and I get the message "the following file is already on your computer" during the first installation. It has persisted through 2 format + fresh installs.

I would be happy to provide you with any additional information.

I used 7zip to unzip the driver files and everything worked. He saw in a post here, finally got my landline number.

  • Replace Digitizer Touch IdeaPad Z500

Hi all. My laptop screen is currently heavily cracked because of my clumsiness, but I noticed that it's just the glass on the LCD digitizer. My problem is that I can't find a straight line to the top of the spare part to swap on the old cracked glass. Any help finding one would be great. Otherwise, I found the digitizer for a U350 that looks identical dimensions; would it not possible to use instead?

  • Lenovo ideapad y510p boot on CD/DVD

    Hello

Just had the laptop y510p and I am trying to install Ubuntu, so I have this DVD bootable and I wanted to try out Ubuntu before you install as usual, but I can't get the laptop to bot on dvd. On the start menu options, there are only EFI and a kind of network options but not dvd.

I tried following the instructions here, but regardless of how many times I press F1 during boot, I can't start menu and windows starts directly:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_CY/downloads/detail.page?docid=HT036814

Is it not possible to boot on dvd. The dvd is supposedly compatible with EFI and secure boot ubuntu 13.10.

I don't understand why there is no option to rearrange devices to boot on my old PC.

I managed to get the BIOS configuration by pressing the restart and Maj and then selecting settings UEFI firmware and I chance to the configurations of the bios, but still no way to find the option to start on a dvd.

    Any advice? Thank you

I managed to install ubuntu, the problem is that my cd is defective, here's a blog where I wrote about the steps

Although for Windows 7 the problem is perhaps that he does not support UEFI and or secure boot?

In windows 8 type ctr + C then the power button, then press Caps + restart and then chose the option help out and something UEFI and you will restart in the bios, then you can change the settings to disable secure boot and/or inherited instead of the UEFI boot.

When you press F12 is the start menu, but you won't see that entries that are UEFI-compatible (if you are using the UEFI) either CD or USB

  • How to invert the fn keys in ideapad z510

    Hello

I recently bought a lenovo ideapad z510 and I have to press fn in order to use the f1 - f12 keys. Is there a way to change this trend so that I don't need to press fn to use the f1 to f12 keys?

    Hi moving.

Welcome to the Community Forums of Lenovo!

Can you try to go to BIOS by pressing F2 when you power on the system

Once inside the BIOS look for an option that says mode HOTKEY or hotkey, should be under the configuration tab.

change this option and must reverse the use of the FN on your system.

(Remember to press F10 once your done to save the changes you made.

If the hot key mode is not available in BIOS, you may have to wait or consult on the download site of the Lenovo Support for BIOS updates

    Hope this helps

  • Help! Need to find a way to replace components of Lenovo Ideapad U300s!

I bought a new 5 GHz Intel Centrino wifi PCI-E card to replace the 2.4 ghz card that came with my Lenovo Ideapad U300s. Unfortunately, I can't access the PCI-E location to Exchange on the chip.
