IdeaPad P580 hinges

Hello

My name is Mary and I am new to the community forums of Lenovo. I don't know if I still am posting this in the right place. But I bought my Lenovo Ideapad P580 a year ago. It is not under warranty any longer. A week earlier, one based on the screen broken. I tried to get the spare parts on the spare parts of Lenovo site, but they are out of stock. As a last attempt, I've had my laptop sent to the Geek Squad for an estimate. They want $500 to replace the whole screen, because they refuse to do just the hinges.

I wonder if there is anyway or anywhere I can buy just the hinges P580, or if the hinges are also used on another model.

Thank you!

Hello

Find the part number on the Lenovo Web site--> click on help in the upper right-->--> Select apply investigation sales--> sub message to include the part number and request that they make available. Lenovo will send you by email within 48 hours on when this will be available.

Hope this has helped.

You can not. The 4000 Intel is part of the cpu. The other card graphics if there is none are also part of the motherboard.

  • New laptop password AC power to the battery when you play a game.

I got an IdeaPad P580 (i7, HDD 750 GB, 8 GB of ram, nvidia gt 630 m) a few weeks ago. A week ago I started having this problem where whenever I play a game, he's going off the AC power and the battery or vacillates between the two.

He did this in Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout: New Vegas and same Minecraft. Sometimes even outside of the games, but this is rare. After closing a game once, he would be off AC for a few seconds every time I opened a new tab in my browser!

It doesn't matter what mode of energy that I use. The latest graphics drivers are installed. No matter if I use the Nvidia card or disable it in the bios and use the integrated Intel graphics card. I have tried everything I can think; I plugged the AC adapter into a wall directly instead of a surge protector, etc..

When the laptop is, there are three lights on the front under the touchpad. The two left are usually, but sometimes when it produces in the Middle it turns red.

If I remove the battery and just use the AC, the laptop just shut off after a second or two in the real game.

Someone at - it ideas? Nothing at all, even if you think it's a long shot. It of frustrating to buy a new laptop and then happen, especially since the problem with my old laptop has been playing games would cut (which was overheated, which appears not to be as it is not hot).

Hmm. you have no overclock your right to gt630?

cutting like that usually means not enough power is supplied by the power brick, or the connection is loose.

How many watts is the power brick?

If the power is firmly connected, first thing to do is call lenovo and ask them to send you a new power brick.

If the problem persists, you may have a bad mother power connector. It could be opening itself, or the connector on the motherboard.

How many times you plug and unplug the power cord? and you do it with force? If you are not sweet, the brackets that hold the power port may crack.

  • Some features of Windows are not available.

I have an IdeaPad p580 and I noticed that a few basic functionality of windows are not available. I use Windows 7 Home premium SP1 and everything else is usually straight out of the box. I guess these are the basic features of windows because I learn about them in an intro to the class of Windows operating system.

When I try to use secpol.msc in the start menu, windows cannot find it, and also when I try to encrypt a file or a file this option is grayed out. I think Veriface is the encrypt function creep, or another software that is preinstalled is to play with things.

No idea as to what could be the cause? Is my book misleading me, I may get to such a different way?

  • Migration to a smaller (faster) drive

I have a new IdeaPad P580 and replace the hard drive of 1 TB with a smaller 256 GB drive (SSD). I started to search the thread on the partitioning of the disk and a key recovery, but what is said does not match what I see on my drive.

I have four partitions (and some unused space?) arranged as follows:

Without label (', active system"): 200 MB

    Windows7_OS (c): ~ 850GB

    (unallocated 35 GB)

    Lenovo (d): ~ 25GB

Without label ("OEM Partition"): ~ 20GB

So, contrary to what is said elsewhere, my C: drive is a lot greater, and my D: is relatively small. The only way I could migrate to my smaller drive is to resize the C: partition, and apparently will lead OneKey Recovery not working?

This seems pretty lame. What is the point of a small D: at all? And is there a point to the 35 GB unallocated or can I recover this space into a useful score?

How should I proceed? I would like to OneKey Recovery, but this isn't a deal breaker for me, until I recovery DVD.

Perform the recovery DVD even uses the "OEM" Partition (which I assume is the recovery partition), or if I cannot use OneKey Recovery and am rather counting on the DVD can I nuke this partition completely and reclaim the space?

I would be grateful for any guidance. At this point, the 'new disc' sons are incredibly long and it is easy to forget some information that might be relevant to my questions. Thank you for your patience.

    -Bob

I finally just did the following:

    1. reduce the size of my system C: partition to 100 GB. I got to use GParted LiveCD.

2 create a OneKey Recovery DVD set, with the current state of the system

3 replace the drive with an SSD

    4. start from my DVD recovery and restore of the system partition

I found myself with a partition unique and complete (256 GB) discs with the content from my old System Partition. Works very well. No OneKey button restore and not restore to the original content factory of course, but this isn't a huge deal. Would be nice to have, but...

In hindsight, I don't think I had to do the #1 step, because it seems that the recovery CD really are just backups of the system partition and so it was simply a copy of files from the recovery CD in the partition that you are targeting and the size of the original partition is irrelevant (as long as the new partition is large enough to hold all the files). But I didn't try it without this step so I can't say definitively that it would work.

What about the hard drive caddy, I found this (even if I have not yet tried):

    and several similar clones.

  • IdeaPad S10 - 3 broken hinge

The right hinge plastic my S10 - 3A laptop broke up without reason. I always close my netbook correctly and always take care of it. This netbook has been with me for almost 2 years already. What will happen if I didn't not my laptop for repair? Is there a way to fix without spending too much, I mean it's just a hinge. I have read other forums that could fix that part cost about $300.

    Unbeatable salvation.

    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

If you hear sound that cracks when you open your LCD or you think the hinges left / right become cowards then I recommend that you do fix it because it can damage the back platic if left unrepaired.

You can get here to spare:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-3 left / right hinge set

And you can follow this guide diassembly or this video as a reference. If you are not comfortable opening the laptop, you can have this service in a local computer repair shop.

    Note:

Use ESD protection and ensure subsequent disassembly your PC because it includes items that are easily breakable.

    I hope this helps.

  • Lenovo Ideapad U310 speaker problem

    Hi all

My U310 of Lenovo Ideapad has had problems of speaker,

The headphones work correctly, but the built-in speakers that are Awefully located inbetween as the hinge and the base of the screen do not work.

I first thought it was a problem with the headphone jack that could have cut the circuit internal speaker because of the incorrect removal of the headphone jack, but it is not true because I've noticed that its a problem with the angle I keep tilt of the screen.

On the passage of the screen at any angle above 90 or 100 degrees, the speakers cut in and are activated once its below 80 degrees.

I'm a little worried about the words on it?

    Kind regards

    raisedadead.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!

    Thank you Alaa,

The problem is now solved, mainly the mobile hinge was obstruction in fact the thread that connects the speakers, according to the service technician. Need to replace the wiring had been damaged by the hinge. A manufacturing problem small on the wire does not correctly connected to the hinge. Thank you

I changed my settings in the BIOS and 1st priority to USB, but no luck. Although, I installed Windows 7 on the PC of my friend using USB, but his does not work for me.

Now, I want to install Windows 7.

This House in 2008 has a removable battery, now a 1 TB SSD and one of the screens of the brightest I've ever seen.  We are now at OSX 10.11.8.  I can't give it up.  BUT the hinges have become SO tight that something will give way.  I tried a drop of silicone spray on each end but no help.  Do I need parts, or anything else I can do?  Help, please.  I love this machine

You may need to consider a replacement hinge operation, perhaps note if

the new hinges seem to lack lubrication prior to installation; Maybe use a

few modern synthetic lubrication instead of silicone. Most of propellants

silicone spray will end off-gass; If some silicone stays behind.

And any excess can seep or drip some time, if not synthetic is used.

Some of the best products are used in fine machines or mechanical

camera, or other maintenance & repair. Most say if synthetic &

some people are not spray. I have used several; most work better than

silicone spray and last longer. New hinges could be bent several times

before the installation with a synthetic lubricant worked in the pivot points.

Clean all excess, if you do this. Synthetic good will dry and leave

only lubrication, no propellant gas. And dry lubrication does not attract dust.

This lubricant should prevent metal-on-dinner wear, as in a car engine.

    {Note, other users had problems with their MacBook Pro 17-inch hinges}

being too loose; While maybe something to consider before lubing pre

the replacement of hinge before Assembly; Flex-maybe just the few

dozen times to see if they break some without synthetic lubrication. I'd do it

consider squats for a while, then apply synthetic flex a little more, and

wipe; to see if they break a little... before installing the new hinges. The

hinges may present some pieces of metal in the excessive lubrication, which will show you

    upward on fluffy clean (disposable) fine cloth, it is removed.}
