iDRAC on Dell R610 problem

Hello

I just got a new Dell R610 and I tried to configure the iDRAC on her card. I have it configured on interfaces of multiple T300 Dell and the ILO on the different models of HP servers successfully. But for some reason, I'm going to have serious problems with it.

I think he got an iDRAC Express card as there is no extra ethernet port on the server, just the standard 4 integrated NETWORK interface the iDRAC BIOS are version 1.70 I understand is the last.

In the screen configuration (Ctrl + E) iDRAC, iDRAC and IPMI over LAN are enabled. Selection of NIC is set to shared so for active LOM, it reports 'No. Active LOM'. VLANs are disabled, iDRAC Express stand them? -Once it works I would like to enable it if possible.

Only NIC1 (eth0) is connected to the switch. I tried configuring it with DHCP, but he never does an address even if the operating system gets a.

To remove the switch / VLAN even tried to connect NIC1 directly on an other server tcpdump and running with iDRAC configured with a static IP (the default value of 192.168.0.120). Did not get a thing of it. I could see the arp requests going out but not responses to iDRAC.

So, how do you get the iDRAC to work?

Thank you.

Today technician Dell replaced our motherboard and this fixed a problem with the DRAC.

New motherboard uses older versions of BIOS and DRAC BIOS main:

principal: was 3.0.0, now for 2.0.11
DRAC: was 1.70.21, now 1.41.13

DRAC works now, and, Yes, she has the web interface.

PS unfortunately, but this will not be fixed another issue we have with H200 controller or it's linux driver mpt2sas: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/777441 (ClxAdmin, if you use Linux on that server, what distribution of linux/version you are using?)

  • Server Dell r610 with PERC 6 / i controller

    Hello

M using dell r610, which is configured with PERC6 / i controller, problem is I want to know when I configured the RAID-0 and remove my disk only, fails to get the boot, how to solve this problem?

Once again, I want to know:

    1. with the raid configuration are we able to expand the size of the disk (from 2 TB to 3 TB) without lossing data

2 are we able to use this server with No.-raid because raid will be risky in the case of a disk failure and won't lose data...?

((1-Yes, you can, but ONLY if 1) your system is currently in UEFI boot mode and 2) you are not currently using a RAID 10 (or have several bays on the disks).

2 n ° on PERC 6 does not support the RAID/JBOD. RAID is ONLY risky if the USER chooses a risky RAID level (RAID 0 should be used for specific reasons by experienced professionals).

RAID 0 has NO fault tolerance.

  • Replacement Dell R610 motherboard model number

As I have no further with the tension E1000 Failsafe error. Contact technical support. The next thing to do I think is to replace the motherboard of Dell R610. Looking on eBay there are a number of different model / serial numbers are mentioned Eg: F0XJ6, 3YWXK, XDN97, 0NCY41 08GXHX and others. What is the motherboard model number / series should I actually use for replacement in this Dell R610, that has this built-in safety voltage error? Are there any other serial numbers, that depends on?

(Maybe I'm not looking for the right place, but even when I enter serial number in the website I can't find the serial number of the motherboard...) Even less if I should get the same motherboard once again, or maybe a 'best'?)

    Thank you!

    Sysjas,

The Svc tag you sent, the motherboard installed on the server currently is the XDN97.

Sorry for the delay, I'm not in until 6:30 am CST.

    I hope this helps.

  • Installation of the H700 controller in dell R610

I asked this question on serverfault.com but so far do not have a definitive answer.

    We just put a refurbished dell R610 2 X 6 Core X 5650, 96 G Ram, Raid SAS 6ir controller, 2 X Fujitsu MBC2073RC 2.5 15 K 73 GB SAS Hard Drive. We will also install additional disks:

    • 2 x Intel 730 480 GB 2.5-inch SSD SSDSC2BP480G4R5
    • 2 x Samsung SpinPoint ST2000LM003 2 TB 2.5 Momentus "

I also separately brought a controller Raid H700 renovated to use rather than the SAS 6ir map. This is the integrated H700 and looks like this:

How to install this? I have read several books looking for instructions explicit (Page 111 of the operating instructions R610 is not quite clear to me...) For example should I unscrew the cache-pci slot metal on the left side of this map and then directly replace the Board SAS6ir "integrated"? Or go to this card in a separate pcie slot? (I don't know the cables will reach and I'm not sure the cable management) Does anyone have pictures of an installed H700 and PERC, installed in a R610 battery?

    Thank you!

is the only difference between the version of the built-in adapter and the internal version of the pcie metal plate?

No, the main difference between the two integrated and adapter's firmware. They are designed to work in the type of the specified location. The integrated storage location is a PCIe location, but it works the same as a normal PCIe location.

  • help ESXi on Dell R610 always locked mode!

    Hello

I have a really weird question with 2 Dell r610 servers. They were supposed to come with esxi on a sd card. I tried to boot from the sd card, but nothing happened. So basically I downloaed the demo version of ESXi (not dell) that I waited on the licenses. I installed it on top of installing esxi dell and when I boot it is in lockeddown grayed out with the setting mode. I reinstalled and it makes no difference.

Am I missing something? I have no vcenter server for the moment that the purpose was to use a virtual machine. Is there a parameter causing this or something BIOS dell?

    its really weird!

Thanks much for any help. I have to come back tomorrow with a response!

    Paul

    > BTW there is NO such thing as a DELL of ESX version. This just means that there are additional support tools to install, but you can install these tools that AFTER ESX is installed.

RParker you are, of course, technically correct.  The image of ESXi available on the Dell support site is just ESXi with the already installed Dell CIM provider.  However, referring to him as the 'Dell' Version is just an indication that it has been downloaded from and customized by Dell (with the CIM provider).  What makes the "Dell" version because they are offering him, and you are unlikely to find available for download by, say, HP.

    Virtualization of happy!

  • ESXi on a DELL R610 Server

    Hello

being a newbie on VMWARE ESXi 4, I use the software on a DELL R610 server with 1 INTEL XEON X 5650 processor and 24 GB of RAM (6 x 4 GB).

This system 4 servers and 4 offices is hosted.

    To improve performance, I want to add more memory 36 GB (3 x 4 + 3 x 8) and I think a second Xeon processor.

A second processor usage is possible with ESXi 4?

Web search gave me a confused littlle bit, due to contradictory answers :-(.

  • Inventory of the Dell R610 collection system

I have 2 servers Dell R610 x. ' ' We're heading quickly through POST while the other drops in "inventory of the collection system" for about 10 minutes before you start.

Is there a way to disable the 'inventory of the collection system' on each startup?

    USAO,

Yes, there is a way to disable the system inventory collection on restart (CSIOR).

    1. Access the iDRAC6 Configuration utility by clicking on during the POST.
    2. Select System Services in the main menu.
    3. Change the inventory of the system collect on the configuration of restart for disabled.

See a similar screen capture below:

  • Dell R610 RAM configuration

    Hi all

We currently have a Dell R610 (dual Xeon E5620) with a total of 16 GB of RAM consisting of 8 x 2 GB.

We intend to double the memory up to 32 GB.

What would be the best configuration of RAM? Taking all the existing RAM on and its replacement with 2 x 16GB? (a module in the location of A1 and the other in the B1 slot).

Where should we go for the low voltage RAM, for example Kingston ValueRAM KVR13LR9D4/16

Or you have a better suggestion?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards

    Oliver

Sorry I misread your initial post as 2X8GB not 8x2Go. In this case. 2X16GB is the best option to get to 32 GB.

  • Reference Dell r610 slow start

Hi I have a Dell r610 but it takes a few seconds at startup I had 48 GB of ram, I just checked that everything is ok regarding the ram, hard drives, my bios is version 2.0.13 What can do to optimize it?

    Thank you

    Hello

I wouldn't recommend trying to speed up the process of startup/POST. The more material you have in the slowest server, it will be. You can speed it up the disabling features such as memory controls, inventory (CSIOR) or the controller of the lifecycle altogether. You can also disable firmware for some hardware interfaces.

  • Reference Dell R610 RAID, virtual disk more problems of 1800 GB

    Hello community,

I was frustrated by my attempt at installing VSphere 4.0 Update 2 (or 1) on a virtual disk on a SAS Perc 6, which is more than 1 800 GB in size and I was wondering if any of you have had similar experiences and how you have handled THIS.

Unfortunately this system will use internal to the storage drive as it will be in a remote location.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Break your table into smaller pieces. ESX requires a minimum of about 10 GB, even if you can make bigger it. ESXi requires only 1 GB. Data warehouses may not be less than 2 TB. You may be able to use virtual disks raid based to break the table.

  • How can I fix my "iDRAC is not ready' problems?

We have a PowerEdge R420 running a server VMware ESXi 5.1 in RAID mode.

We had a power failure which resulted in obtaining R420 one ' SWC0700: iDRAC is not ready "error.  Our version of setting iDRAC is 1.30.30.27.  I found the report on the iDRAC reset and update the firmware of the iDRAC with this version and error state.  Following suggestions to disconnect power cables, USB cables and then keeping the power button for 15 seconds until not clearly the problem.  Boots following this process had the same error of SWC0700.

I created an OSMA7.1 DVD boot and I tried to install, a USB drive, different versions of newer than 1.30 iDRAC, but every time that the system has reported/proc/ipmi/0 /: file not found (or something similar that I'm going on memory here).

I needed the system upward, so I pressed F1 to continue to run.  The system seems well except that the fans turn at high speed.

I saw another post on the button of the iDRAC for 15 seconds to reset the iDRAC, and I tried with the system in place and is functioning normally.  This did nothing for the speed of the fan, so I guess it has no effect on iDRAC.

I installed the COnsole of Administration Dell, on the ESXi virtual machine in the hope of launching an upgrade of firmware iDRAC of this virtual machine, but I couldn't connect to vCenter, which is probably because I don't have a VCenter server, only two servers ESXi 5.1 - I think I misread the DELL site thought this could work somehow for me.

Now, I think the performance of the ISO bootable, I found on this Web page: www.dell.com/.../SLN296511
My fear is that something can go wrong, and I'm losing my server installation.

If I put my confidence in the ISO bootable update?  Should I call Dell support - I am about 4 months out of warranty repair technician on-site - and plan to replace my motherboard as I read in other posts on this forum?  The motherboard can be replaced without altering my ESXi installation?

I'm worried that runs the server with a "iDRAC is not ready" error will burn the server, or do anything else that will ruin the server.  Should I still worry about this?

Thanks for the advice and suggestions in advance.

    The f

It sounds like the replacement of parts is necessary. There is not a way to export the configuration of the BIOS. The fee for a replacement of tech is usually $299 for servers, plus the cost of the system board. I'm not sure what would be an extension of one year on the guarantee.

  • Photosmart 2710 and new Dell Computer problem

Just got a new Dell XPS 630 and can not load or recognize the Photosmart 2710 all in one.  We have Dell install Windows XP Professional, but I wonder if they let Vista stuff out there.  Tried to use the CD supplied with the printer... no joy.  Also tried to download any software and the new drivers HP.  What should have been an easy thing, now became very frustrating hours of work.  Please tell me that there is an easy solution for this.  Jan

  • Install/uninstall the dell printer problem.

The dell disc was downloaded successfully, but my computer can't find it. It's on the list add / delete, but I can't uninstall it to restart the download from the beginning. Uninstall response is: your operating system may not support the printer Dell V715w. Setup cannot continue. It seems to me as if he stopped trying to download which has left in limbo land where are several pc probs.

My pc says I have great WiFi but when I try to print I get this message that computer does not find the printer and the printer Dell object driver is unknown. I think I met the error message is of 1797. I downloaded & installed all new updated preinter dell drivers and update all my drivers system drivers. Still with no success. I spent many hours no days now trying to solve the problem, according to me, if I could at least uninstall the Dell V715w it might work but used to leave me. Please please help me, I'm at my wits end now.

    Hello

Use revo uninstaller and uninstall the printer drivers and the software completely and then try to install it recently, this will help you.

  • Boot Dell Latitude problem

Turns on when I start my laptop (a Dell Latitude D610) he displays that page load with the Dell icon, but it just goes to a page is black with the _ blinking in the top left corner and not keys working that they just beep noises and F8 will not start in safe mode (I sat to watch as the screen black for more than an hour and happened past)...
Someone knows what to do thanks in advance.

    Hi Taylorg,

If your computer beeps short one or two before starting, this is normal and your computer tells you the BIOS startup succeeded. If your computer beeps and does not start, a more serious hardware problem probably occurs.
A beep code means generally that a basic function was not able to start. A basic function could be reading memory, video display or be able to send information on a hard drive.
The most common problems that cause the beep codes are memory and heat-related failures caused by an accumulation of dust in the critical areas of cooling.
Check these conditions on your laptop and see if that helps fix the problem.
